Unless the mainland fought a major war over Taiwan against the US and lost, Taiwan will never have UN recognition.

People all over the world want to prevent war.

So, the mainland just mount more and more pressure on the Taiwan economy.

Reunification will happen after Taiwan has suffered enough from economic malaise.

Taiwan will not be prosperous economically again until an agreement with the mainland is reached.
