I think I have a problem with this mod. I installed it and updated to 2.2. I havent installed the start trek XI pack yet.

Well my battles take up to three times as long as this one in the video. I think somethings wrong. After like 4 minutes of constant phaser and torpedo firing I finally get the shields off.

Then I ill unload like 6 torpedos into the hull of Lets say a TOS romulan bird of prey an it does like 0 damage.

@bryruncorn Yeah. If memory serves, That starship was 'tinkered' with. This tinkering enabled the crew to raise more energy that increased the firepower against the Defiant. However, the Defiant had the upper hand being 80 years younger in design than the Lakota's Excelsior-class heritage. However, in fighting a Constitution-class ship, the Excelsior should have made quick work of the Constitution-class ship irregardless of the one captaining her just by sheer firepower alone.

When the Excelsior launched in 2284, Scotty had sabotaged her engines and she had to be towed back into space dock. The Enterprise, at that point, could have laid waste to the Excelsior. But putting them on equil footing, it would really depend on the crew of the Excelsior. Would the Excelsior crew be using new tactics or tactics learned at the Academy, most of which were written by Kirk by that time? Excelsior may be stronger, but Enterprise has the experience. Enterprise all the way!

My only thoughts is that maybe do to size and maneuverability differences the enterprise was able to adjust its angles of attack to maximize firepower.

This is the PC version and personally of all the games that I have, I don't think it is worth getting unless you can get it for cheap. It is probably a game that you'll play once through that is if you manage to finish it. The only exception is the ultimate universe mod which you can google and download online for free. In my opinion it makes a lot of improvements in the game, but I no longer really play this anymore. It will most likely remain on my game shelf now on.

I'm guessing that the reason Miranda class starships can still be seen in service during TNG and Constitution class vessels are not is that Miranda class ships are built new as you see them. The 1701 Enterprise and her sister ships were upgraded from the original specs. While improved, this means they are still older. The Connie class was Starfleets bread and butter in her day, but they most likey designed Excelsior to replace the model for practical reasons.

Frig that. Galaxy class all the way. When I first saw first contact, I was actually quite dissapointed with the New Sovergn class Enterprise E. It grew on me later, but the Galaxy looks far more impressive.

Yeah, but it can't stand its own against a Sovy. Galaxy has an impressive firepower, but little defense. Ent-E has type XII phasers, quantum torpedo turret and 4 burst fire photon torpedo launchers, plus regenerative shielding and ablative armor.

The Defiant was a TINY ship with a huge warp core that could power an Excelsior. The Galaxy class is actually more massive than the Sovereign, so what you say there makes no logical sense. Regenerative shields could be designed to fit the Galaxy as well as type XII phasers, and alblative armor. The Galaxy class was built huge with plenty of room for improvements.

Don't be so silly. There is enough room on a galaxy class to fit it with a quantum turrit as well.

Have you tried powering up 100 watt bulb with a socket only designated for 75? Sure, the Defiant warp core could power up an excelsior, but the galaxy class has been proven time and time again that it's warp core can be easily deadly (i.e, destruction of Ent-D) a Sovy warp core on a galaxy class ship is like the sun going nova. Having room doesn't make it better.

I can name some. the reman warbird owned the E. Romulan d'deridex classes can hold their own against a sovereign. so can klingon neg'vhar class ships. Borg cubes can hold their own against the E. Also dominion super battle cruiser can hold its own. No bloody A,B,C,D, or E. :)

Finally someone that's not bashing the constitution class. Here's my theory. Miranda class ships are cheap to build, easy to refit, and cheap to maintain. After the dominion war the mirandas were finally put on the backburner for decomissioning because it couldn't hold up to the newer ships. Miranda class ships suck, if you watch TWOK, several hits and the ship is crippled. In TNG one hit and the ship is crippled or destroyed. This is my point they scrap connies but keep these paper ships.

it was a hull fragment that has a similar look to the constitution class secondary hull but it was never exactly shown or stated to be a constitution class ship. since it was a point of Rick berman to not put any TOS material in TNG it would be logical that there wouldn't be a constitution class ship in TNG. It's good that they retired the connies by the 24th century, it just wouldn't look good having those great looking ships pairing up with bermans' starship cockroaches.

UUM is what you see in this video..

I personally don't like to use subsystem targeting that often. It makes for any battle a cake walk, especially in a 1 vs 1. It isn't like I can knock out their weapons and have them to surrender.

I'd say that to some degree at least, it depends on the Captain and the crew. The Excelsior is often referred to as a battlecruiser - bigger, tougher, better performance and weapons - but if the Connie had a good crew and a cunning captain who knew exactly what his ship could do - someone like Captain Kirk, who was a very formidable ship-to-ship duelist - then I'd definitely bet on the Connie.

First off connies predate excelsiors by 45 years in trek. Connies spaceframe was designed to be used for 50 years. When the excelsiors were introduced in trek connies reached their 50 year time limit. So they either chose to upgrade the connies or scrap them for the excelsiors. That's what they did scrap them for the excelsiors. The excelsiors can do whatever the connies can do just a little better (like 10%) but the connies are much more maneuverable and pleasing to the eyes.
