Screen tests are generally geared toward testing a single basic idea on pretty much no budget. You get a generic stage with a generic light setup, use a single camera, and film the actors. If all you're testing is the actors then that's really all you need, especially with Lucas and (especially) Spielberg, who by this point in their careers probably had developed a reliable sense for how these skits would translate into a big screen performance.
I think he would have been more expressive and dramatic, while Harrison is more tough and "cool", wich I think works better for the moments that Indy screws up or has bad luck.
George Lucas was secretly angling for a very young Jar Jar Binks to play the role of Indiana Jones. Or possibly Rene Belloq. Or maybe even Marion. For God's sake, *something* - he was too good to pass up.
He has his place as a good actor, but there is a voice inflection, or lack there of, with Tom Selleck that has always bugged me. It impresses me as almost like a "faux toughness" where as with Harrison Ford, you get the impression he could actually hunt your ass down if he needed to.
i read that tom selleck could have taken the role of indiana jones. he was commited to his show magnum PI but the show was delayed for 6 months, enough time to finish the film.
Eh, the screen tests always look funny, though. I think Selleck would have made a fine Jones. And if he got it and we were watching Harrison Ford's screen test right now, we'd probably be like, "Ick, Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones? Gross."
I'm not a fan of either of these actors, but this is way above my expectations. Seriously, it looks like it would have been a good movie. I definetely prefer the final cast though.
In the third Indiana Jones movie, Tom Selleck as Indy
would probably have borne a closer resemblance to Sean Connery…

You should go see a professional for that low self-esteem and inferiority complex of yours. :)

i was just copying your tactic of stifling healthy argument by being childish. Maybe "cun"t was too strong though...can i change it for "asshole"?

As much as I like Harrison Ford.
It would have been great to see Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones.

Harry is awesome, but I have to admit, I think Tom could have been Indy.
