Britney and Christina are of my generation. Born around 1980/1981....

Britney definitely is reminiscent of a combination of Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul. That was my immediate reaction when she came out. Because those two were popular when we were little.

Then Christina is reminscent of the great pop singers of the past couple decades. Whitney, Mariah.... (More Whitney, IMO.)
