  • lol you're not 12. and even if u were no one cares. just post the fucking video and be done. we dont need to know your age to listen to you play.

  • Glorious!

  • Oh Dang!

  • Tiene cara de infeliz S: ... u.u

  • How can some people say that this is horrible.....Sure there are some flat notes, but the fact that a 12 year old is doing a concerto that some violinist never accomplish in their life time is pretty amazing to me

  • this is horrible.

  • @Sagora123 Explain.

  • @TheExarion too fast, too sloppy, added more parts to the original song. Was too flat and too sharp in most parts and couldnt hit the note correctly. Put staccato in a truely amazing part which made it sound terrible.

Watch the YoYo Ma version. its a true work of art

  • @Sagora123 Speed/rubato is up to the player. He played through the full song o.e no parts were added. Parts that were staccato are of his style in order to make the piece his own (in a way). No doubt YoYo Ma's version of this song is much better, but you must understand, he's been going at this for decades. Santiago (at the time) must have had practice for, at the most, 8 years. I've been playing for about 5 years now, and I'm nowhere near as good as him, especially when it comes to the notes...

  • Hats off to this young cellist!

  • For those who criticize - have you seen how old the cellist is? At 12 most still struggle to get a decent sound out of the cello, while here we see a pretty amazing performance of a Paganini cappricio, originally written for violin!

  • you have the absolute pitch?

  • @amrosik Yes. Thanks for watching it!

  • @luisca2007 how did you trained your absolute pitch? I mean you cant just have the pitch simply by birth. There has to be some kind of training to develop your pitch, right? did you do something special to train your ear or did it come with time?

  • @amrosik mmmm...I think by birth...because my dad and mom are musicians as well and they don´t have it, but my sister and I do and I began to realize that, when my mom used to ask me wich note it was and I inmediately knew and my mom played it on the piano to see and it was always correctly

  • how long have you been practicing this piece

  • when ur hair touch a string; it doesnt change the sound ???

  • needs more phrasing and a few flat notes... but almost there! good work.

  • This guy legitimately looks like Harry Potter playing the cello.

  • VERY FALSHHHH

  • u girl or boy?

  • asom

  • Youre good but Get it right before you play a piece like this! You make ot sound like shit!

  • I'd love to see him / her play it with a bit more passion

  • nice but u are a robot without exprecion and passion

  • great work! i bet you practice a lot! this def shows it, whos your cello teacher? and do you go to a university?

  • @apocello2009 My cello teacher is james Tennant in New Zealand, Waikato University and I just finished my first year of University with an special "SOLOIST" program.

If you want, check the other Paganini, the alive performance, I think is better.

    Thanks for commenting

    Santiago :-D

  • I'd be even more impressed if he/she played it right

  • im slive 4 u auzzz

  • Hi Santiago!

    it's a magic...

    :-)

  • I feel like some notes are being rushed and thrown away, and the octaves looked like they needed a little work, as well as very minor intonation mistakes. But don't get me wrong, this is truly phenominal, you are definitely a very talented cellist. To all those people who clearly have no experience playing music that say "you need to show emotion maaaan!", when you're 12, and getting comfortable with performance and your instrument, having a personality is last on the list of priorities.

  • I watch this everyday,

    you are an amazing cellist.

I wonder how long it took you to learn this?

  • when did you start playing cello??????

  • @X0luvzmjX0 When I was 4 and a half years old :-D

    Santiago

  • @luisca2007 impressive

  • In my opinion, you shouldn't have taken on such a big piece so early, you still have many more years. Work on technique, not grand concertos and caprices meant for the violin.

  • @SuperFunnyman11 you're just jealous because you would give your first born and left leg to be able to do this.

  • I'm a fan :)

  • BRUTAL

  • wrong note at 4 secondes....

  • Masterfully played. Its the cello that is alive in the hands of the master. its about the music .

  • Love it... so... so... much.

  • Muy Bien Santiago. Te felicito. Eres un gran talento

De parte de otro cellista. Felicitaciones a tus padres por apoyarte tanto.

  • OMG harry potter

  • @shawkobezhu LOL!! But Daniel Radcliffe doesn't know how to play the cello, and he doesn't even wear glasses in real life. XD

  • @shawkobezhu is not harry potter is john lennon =D

  • @shawkobezhu also john lennon, not just harry ;-)

    great for your young age!

  • @Kamaza9 jonh lennon, harry potter, ozzy ousborne xD hehe

  • except for 2 or 3 minor mistakes, i must say that yours is the best impression of c24 on utube. congrats

  • What is your cello brand?

    BTW, VERY impressive play ;O

  • Realmente eres un gran talento. Felicidades. Geyner

  • This would have been 10x cooler and more incredible if he would have stayed in the higher octave where possible. I know in places he has to transpose the octaves down (around 1:30 especially) but any place that playing in a lower octave wasn't absolutely necessary (most noticeably in all the variations at the beginning) I would have preferred him to play in the higher octave... Just my opinion

  • Yeah his face is so cold and his playing looks very robotic, but the emotion pours out of his cello.

It´s there although you cant see it.

  • @n00bMonkel that's not robotic, it is just playing a piece widely considered one of the most difficult ever written - only a few can do it.

  • semplicemente formidabile!!!!

  • he looks so empty in his eyes... unfortunately we can hear it... I am sorry but without to know the basics of Harmonics, you cant play Music. Even if you can feel it.

  • how do ur fingers not bleed?

  • @JamminJamacan Nooo, my finger are ok :)

  • Muy claro el sonido. Muy bonito :'-) WOW

  • WOW!

  • This is a tremendous performance ; that finger technique is amazing ! When I play guitar, I don't smile either, but I love doing it. Smiling is for TV shows ;-)

  • muchissimo lindo che..... te felicito, tenés mucha habilidad...

    Saludos desde Brasil!

  • holy f!lol

your really good im no where near as good as you and im 14 but you got some reall talent

  • i mean for a 12 year old thats incredible, few intonation problems, but hey its on a cello, i cant complain. I am doing it on a viola now and its hard even there. Yes there are pros who present themselves abstracted from the music, but if you want a fan base, it begins with emotion. Fabulous though!

  • Good performance but... do u like music? u seem sooo bored, do you like playing?

  • @Slava69 Off course!!! I love play the cello, I enjoy it!!!

  • @luisca2007

lmao your just that bad ass awesome job dude

  • @Slava69 I think you should considerate that every person expreses things in different ways.

  • hmmm lovely compliments from SA

I play the cello and have for 7 or so years and am currently practising for my gr 5 prac

  • very nice!

  • I've noticed this piece gives all cellists trouble but to attempt it and have most of the notes right is amazing.. Even yo-yo ma made some adjustments to make it easier!!

  • Felicidades, espero algún día poder escucharte en vivo. Saludos desde México. WOW.

  • flat

  • FANTASTIC ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿

  • Wonderful music!

This is beautiful. 5 stars ★★★★★

    Erika Ragazzi

  • Congratulations again, Santiago !

    What a talent !

  • INCREIBLEEE

ya con 12 años podés tocar obras maestras!.

que futuro hermoso te esperra nico!!

  • I would suggest taking at a slower tempo. Some of the notes could improve in intonation, and I think by taking it slightly slower, you can get it perfect :)

  • Thanks, you can check my other version of this caprice, I think is better but the quality of the recording is not so good like this

  • Enjoy it!

  • without childhood bro...

  • Thats not true!!!!

  • harry porter?

  • Nice ,exciting whit performance,.I like it

  • I loved it! Great job, great talent! thanks for sharing your channel. 5-stars. :-)

  • Bravissimo Santiago!!!!! Este capricho é difícil com 12, 13, 14, 25, 38 ou 52...anos!!! Tu tocas esta música muito bem!!

  • Muy muy bien! Es muy dificil. Buen trabajo!!

  • Hi Santiago...very beautiful and very talented..

    cheers

    Gil

  • Brava!!!!

  • paganini . violoncello

    very good

  • looks like John Lennon

  • Paganini, I seen him done on Guitar.

You did Great Job. I got a book with a guitar part of him. *****^ santiago

    I'm impressed!

  • Thanks! You can see my other video of Paganini 24, is better tunning :) but the kind of the recorder is not so good because is without proffesional camara.

    Thanks again!

  • hes like 20 years old no way he could be 12

  • @jenga007beto

    I agree, he looks like a 17 ~ 20 years old.

  • But I was 12 in this videos (2007) I was born on 1995 :) I´m now 14 years old!

    Santiago

  • Very good. Pretty difficult piece to play on Cello

  • Please Respond!

Is thumb position killer! My friends says it hurts

  • When you start to play with the thumb it hurts, but you will get used to it and then, your thumb will be stronger

    Santiago

  • my bass teacher said he once accidentally played to the bone of his thumb when he first learned thumb position

  • wow you are extremely talented. You put me to shame!

  • Thanks

    Santiago

  • Bravissimo!!!

you have a wonderful tonal sound

    I have no words,

    you will become a great!!!!

  • Thanks

    Santiago

  • wow your dumb..

  • very good for his age

  • this is good but it sounded a little flat or not on the spot some notes i mean. and if you listen to yo yo ma's version, he plays it differently

  • I love your bow...

  • Thanks

  • Muchas gracias :)

  • why is his cello so low??

  • Thats the way I play

  • oh thats pretty unique of u.

  • Thanks

  • excellent bow control....but the intonation definitely has room.

  • Check my new Paganini 24 ... its way better but the recording wasn´t professionla like this one :D

  • grow grow and youll stard shaking like mad -_- hehe

  • is that a dude

  • hey do you know when he started playing?

  • Santiago started playing when he was 4 and a half years old. If you look his account there is his biography

  • This really is impressive! I find it impossible though that the cellist is 12...There's no way; anyone with eyes can see that...but still, very very impressive

  • Santiago was born on May 1995 and this video was film in New Zealand on November 2007, he was 12 years old :), Now he is 14

  • Don´t listen to it then

  • It would blow my mind if I could play this. Compared with Yo Yo Ma, though, I'd agree with dungeonmaster.

  • your not hitting every note in tune, but it sounds acceptable for some i guess

it must be really hard to get the note right without having frets

  • One advice-slack(relax) your neck and your right sholder - you'll feel much better. Really good technics !!!!! :))

  • most important about fretless string instruments: tune. tune before speed

  • is he a grown up because he looks so much older than 12

  • you lost 5 pounds without even getting out of your seat... fabulous

  • Thanks, you can see my performance of the Dvorak Concert last year with Bogotás Philarmonic. Is in my youtube´s videos

  • he looks way older than 12

  • I agree, intonation.....almost perfect. I must say, I enjoy this transposition better than Yo Yo Ma's. Very well done.

  • wow he looks like john lennon

  • thats exactly wut i was thinking XD\

  • you're right

anyway, i like the way he started to play. very impressive.

  • i agree

  • very nicely played, and super crazy, while his facial expression made it seem so simple to him unfortunately, for me, i heard this after hearing yo yo ma's version, and can say that there are quite a bit of notes out of tune, but this is from a comparative view.

    but still, very very impressive.

  • wow crazy stuff

    5*

  • Santiago should stop growing his hair and keep it short because everyone thinks he is a girl :P jajaja

    - From a secret friend in NZ

  • he looks bored

  • sure he's twelve?
