  • How can an allegedly "horse friendly industry" even allow people to nail such obviously inhibiting stuff under the horses feet, bring children to the ring and teach them "this is beautiful!"...??? No matter what the discipline: as soon as it's about money and prestige, the horses loses.

  • If the horse doesn't even notice these chains cause they have absolutely no effect on him - why then put them on in the first place? *confused*

  • For fuck sakes.

Neither the Pro or Con group is going to win.

Isn't there a humain way to get what they both want?

Can't they just put on Shoes that are Slightly heavier than average?

Instead of fucking soreing the god damned horses?

  • @HunterAndDrew The whole point is and what they don't want anyone to understand is that there is such a small percentage of horses that can actually compete/perform at this level with out soring that there would NOT be any performance classes if there was no soring PERIOD!!

  • I understand how wrapping mustard oil in saran wrap is soring, but just because a horse is wrapped in saran wrap doesnt mean the horse IS sored. I take care of harness horses, we "sweat" our horses legs with saran wrap and alcohol to help with inflammation. the last thing you would ever want is a sore racehorse, using saran wrap isnt a true indicator of soring. I want to train a big lick horse without soring just to prove it can be done.i would video EVERYTHING, from shoeing to leg wrapping.

  • this video is very out of date. the trainers now keep the horses feet clean and most don't sore their horses. while this video may have been applicable 20-30 years ago, it isn't any more. people shouldn't form opinions on todays walking horse based off of old, outdated video.

  • @TheBamafan7 Wow is all that I can say. f you honestly think that soring isn't still going strong then you are not connected at all with the show business. I would bet you dollars to donuts that the Big Lick classes the % of horses sored/ pressure shod is in the 80 to 100% for every class that is sent out. The trick is that the trainers have just learned how to disguise it better.

  • Theres nothing wrong with TWH and how they walk, Its jsut the soring that is stupid..

  • wwwjohnsoncitypresscomNewsarticlephp?id=88078 YOU go to hell and DIE IN A FIRE YOU PIECES OF SHIT!

  • Shame on you for giving such an uninformed report. There are many of us owners who spend a lot of money for a horse for the love of the breed. Why on earth would we allow our pets (and investments) be harmed. We love these horses like a family member and treat them that way. You make it sound like anyone involved with a TWH is sick and cruel. Go to hell!!

  • @AMBenham "for the love of the breed" you said it! "love these horses like family", huh? then go 'sore' your families feet, stay away from animals! uninformed, huh? wwwjohnsoncitypresscom News articlephp?id=88078 YOU go to hell and DIE IN A FIRE YOU PIECES OF SHIT!

  • Those dramatic gaits aren't even nice. They look silly and ridiculous to me. Any REAL horse person would never let this kind of practice cross their mind... The real, honest-to-God cowboys out west would give their own lives for their horses. Why can't all owners be the same? And as for the gold bracelet vs hoof chains, no, the bracelet doesn't hurt, but it can sure as hell be ANNOYING.

  • And if you don't like the way they look STOP WATCHING THE TENNESSEE WALKING HORSE VIDEOS! !!!!

  • I think this video is BS get your facts straight before you start running your mouths! !!!!

  • no horse should have to have there feet wrecked there is enough horses with ruined feet there dont need to be anymore

  • was this video made in like th 80's?

  • these horses have been tortured to the max! this is sick! that dumb inspector has no idea what shes talking about! id like to sore her and make her canter around an arena!

  • First of all, these horses look disgusting. How any one can find this attractive in any way is sick. The horses are lame ... period and the idiots on their backs look like freaks.

  • this is horribe, i can't believe that this is what people think a show horse is all about. i htought that the purpose of a horseshow was to show the excellence of the natural horse. this is cruelty even just the blocks alone are inhumane as shown by the mare who now has joint issues. and just look at the way she is standing!! heels togerher toes out UGH. SOOOO unnatural. and this breed has a georgeous NATURAL gait .i don't know about you but this just looks uncomfotable to ride. and NOT pretty

  • All I ask is why? Isn't the whole point of showing to let people see the horse's natural beauty?

  • i though shows were suppose to be natural and fun not about the money soring is wrong

  • I have a 3yr old irish draught and we're hoping to compete doing dressage and showjumping, but never would I or anyone with any love for these animals cause them pain or use ridiculous aids to get a horse to perform. It should be based om the skill of the rider and the scope of the horse, NEVER how much crap you can throw on one to get him/her to move in a specific way. Thats NOT talent. Its blind idiocy!!!

  • this is just gross why do people do this? If you ask me it just looks stupid when they pick there feet up that high its not natural at all, I have a gaited horse and i would never think of doing this to her

  • @baileyhorse1

I don't see a post on here asking you.

  • Okay the lady with the flower on her hat annoys me

  • Sorry, but the Tennessee Walking Horse Association is the most disgusting equine organization in the country. There is absolutely no reason why any horse needs to have that much height or weight on their hooves...all for the sake of show. Every horse organization has their dirty little secrets, but this tops anything I've ever seen. Pathetic. Makes me wonder how many "broken" TWH there are out there, or that get put down because they can't walk anymore.

  • those horses look stupid doing tht why would you want your horse to do tht

  • Those little shoes you put on dogs and cats aren't four inches or more of solid material either. Horses wear regular horse shoes and do not respond this way. Intelligent soul.

  • i think that the chains do no harm to the horse if it is not sored. but i do not like the soring and pads! yes i think the chains and rollers are harmless and is like a braclet, thats how we get racking horses, but the soring and chains are not right!

  • this vid is over 20 years old??? if your gonna make a point ??? at least tell the truth....up to date??? scared horses can no longer show....(shoes) padds are only 2 in at the toe and 3 in at the heel...and they are only allowed a 6 oz bracelet ??? at least you guys could up date this??? or are you scared to tell the REAL truth??? at least get your story straight....lol

  • Cruel :(

  • this is crazy

  • That is absolutely disgusting. I am ashamed to be of the same specied as the monsters who destroy these beautiful animals without any pinch of remorse or guilt.

    Sick bastards.

  • YOU CAN WRAP THE HORSES with out soring them cause she is young and half crazy and gets hurt alot and we dont wont to get her hurt cause we cant show her people should learn there facts beforse they yell it out i am pissed

  • 4:18 that boy looks gay. poor horses. i would never do that to my horse if she was a walker.

  • the horses look stupid and rediculous stepping like that anyway. Its not elegant or pretty its unnatural and ugly. The horses are beautful but the movement is not. People who sore their horses should be taken out and given a a few good sores themselves. They arent horse people their worthless inhumane imbosiles.

  • Couldnt have said it better myself.

  • 7:30 step on his head!

  • God does that look stupid 1:08

And if this is a natural thing the horses you can call me Harry Potter.

I have to agree with Quartertrain!

  • Just looks totally stupid.....

  • please sign the petition on a website called one horse at a time inc. It is a peition to stop padded/soring tennessee walking horses. we need 5,000 signatures.

  • NOT NATURAL_ SHOOT THE OWNERS!!!!!

  • @Phelpsy28 wow your so stupid!

  • Are you saying that you agree with doing this to horses???

  • Comment removed

  • Poor things! I have known a couple walkers, they have awesome gaits, left natural as trail horses. Why can't the trainers just breed better horses and train them, instead of hurting them like this?

  • i can't believe all the people who say that the chains and stacks don't cause any harm. (i'm not going to even get into the chemical blistering and de-scarring, its just too awful for words). i just want to suggest that maybe they should wrap a heavy chain around both ankles, where it will bang on the bone, put on a pair of four inch platforms, and go for a nice jog. feel good does it? now do it for a few months.

  • My thought on horse soring is that if you need to pad your horses feet to make them double height, put chains on and rub mustard on him to make him lift his hooves.... well then maybe your horse just shouldn't be competing in gaited classes? clearly he does not want to move that way, or you wouldn't need all those horrible things!

  • @zhivana I totally agree. None of them are meant to move like this. I believe alot of these torture devices are used because of the riders inability to train a horse through positive reinforcement.

  • @zhivana

I agree, soring is not right. Pads are fine. If a woman needs to put on makeup and jewelry, maybe she shouldn't be out trying to reproduce.

  • POOR HORSES!!!!

  • Horse soring is so cruel. It's a shame for all the stupid comments on here. Why does everybody say the chains don't hurt? I think instead of imagining watches as chains they should imagine having heavy chains around your ankles all day! Who would do this to such beautiful creatures? :(

  • If you see what the human kind are capable of doing this to a horse... who is more a animale???

  • @NathalyTjallinks

Can someone please translate this to English?

  • Sport horses and other horses do not need pads and chains......why use them on the Walking Horse? Don't you believe their Natural Gait is beautiful enough? (I do!) Soring is wrong! I don't understand the defenders of it, I am led to believe they are simply heartless......

  • I guess your comments get deleted unless you have something bad to say about walking horses. Stereotyping walking horse owners as cruel is like sterotyping black people as car theives. The plastic wrap is to keep in lotion and grease to protect their legs so you can pass inspection. If the horse has even a little scar you can't show. Ignorance goes a long way to ruin the reputation of a beautiful horse and its owners and trainers.

  • i was exercises my horse at the at an arena that was going to have a big tennessee walker show and all the horses were being sored.....they all were getting plastic wraped around there legs and everything. on horse had to be twitced in order for them to do........it was so sad..............i didnt know what they were doing until i got online when i came home.

  • This is extremely cruel and inhumane. The gait is extremely stupid-looking, and who in hell would put their horse through something that terrible to get them to do something that looks so ridiculous? They put diesel fuel on the horses' leg? That's animal cruelty right there... and that 'stewarting' or whatever it's called? These people need psychiatric help. Maybe they should have diesel fuel poured all over their legs and chains placed on their ankles with 4-inch heels to walk on. Hmm? Stupid.

  • compleatly agreed accept they wouldnt be walking they would be jogging

  • OK that is just wrong!I just now learned that they walked that high because of soring and it is terrible!I think it is a very stupid looking gate anyway! Why would you put a horse in extreme pain just to walk really stupidly?Just cruel.

  • even if they didn't use all that stuff, they look ridiculus with that stupid high stepping gait. it looks soo unnatural.

  • definetely.

  • Im a horse owner, and I think this is discusting what they are doing to those poor horses, it should not be aloud and it would be kinder to put the horses down, rather than all that suffering

  • less than 2 % are sored , pads and chains do not harm the horse , and the padded twh shows up into its 20's with no problems ..

  • this makes me sick. who can do this to their horse?

  • since thats so possible and thats not the dqp thats the trainer that doesnt work either thats spray paint for the pads painfully? right?

  • u dont even use that big of chains and u dont put diesel fuel right there the pads dont hurt her

  • u guys r idiots let me come up in your buisness and try to make u broke and c how u feel so**** off

  • Comment removed

  • well .. sorry but keep kidding your self ... its the truth , and no it isnt all about winning ... and well .. i have more than just padded horses so for me it is all about the breed and the quality of the gait and the disposition of the horse , and the conformation of the horse ...

  • Apart from the obvious abuse caused by soring/padding - which is appalling - how can anybody find such a movement desirable/? The poor horses look ridiculous. The movement is fake and forced. What self-centred, shallow people who resort to such measures and completely destroy the natural movement of the horse.

  • The padding .. isnt what harms the horse .. there have been studies done that prove the pads/chains dont harm the horse .. and the movement isnt forced or fake .. it takes a naturally talented twh to even be able to carry pads , and they are bred for the gait ... therefore it is a natural movement for them ....

  • If it is a natural gait for them, why use padding/chains? Surely they wouldn't need them if the gait came naturally? Or are they exaggerating the gait by using these methods? If so, then like I said, shallow and self-centred, just to win a rosette to boost their egos.

  • it is a natural gait just as a saddle bred has a natural gait, and yet they also use pads and chains on their horses to yes exaggerate it just as qh trainers bleed their horses out and use other methods of training, but the pads and chains themselves cause no harm. the only harm is the stupid 2% of trainers that still sore, the sad part is everyone is coming down on the padded horse, and well now you see trail pleasure horses being sored to get a trail gait, thats sad since its a natural gait

  • and its not about boosting egos like you may seem to think ... and its not about the ribbons .. its about breeding and getting show quality horses with show quality gaits . And self-centered .. no that would be people like yourself that dont know anything about the breed

  • This video was made when the Dead Sea was only sick!!!!! TWH show until they are in their twenties!!! They are pampered, not abused!!!

  • *Sigh* And all for a blue ribbon, a trophy, some fame and a little bit of prize money. Amazing how far some people will go.

  • **** u

  • This is barbaric. If they were meant to wear high heels they´d be born that way. We can choose to wear a chain and take it off if its uncomfortable. The horse has no choice, no voice. And it´s not just that obvious abuse - what about the severe bits and the beatings! Put the same chemicals and iron on the owners feet. They make my blood boil with their ignorant savagery. This class of person isn´t fit even to dwell in a cave.

  • personally if all horses were made to show naturally without any artificial devices to "enhance" gaits i think that many breeds would benifit. I think its mostly poor sportsmanship that drives owners and the peopl that show the horse to do these kinds of things. arent gaited and un gaited horses beautiful the way they were made?

  • its so funny to watch and has no point to it y would you make a horse do that for its not pratical

  • A TWH is stacked that way in front because of its unique gait. The front is desired to reach "high & out" - the rear drives deep up under the horse & "pushes" forward, thus creating the "overstride" that only the TWH does. Because of the gait, no stacks needed on the hind legs - if ASB', Morgans & Arabs moved this way, they would be shod the same as the TWH for the show ring.

  • The contraversy is focused on the TWH cause they are the only breed that "shows" in the ring with action "chains". The ASB's are in the barns training in chains on all "Fours" & is padded on all "Fours."

Have you seen a retired "reining" horses legs?

Only 6 oz. chains are permitted in the ring. No scared or calloused horse is permitted to show. A cut tail does not keep a horse from being able to move its tail.

Check into some other breeds people, stop picking on one beautiful breed.

  • This makes me sick. How do they think this is OK? How can they believe that a horse that must canter in a four-beat gait because of such high stacks is beautiful? How do they think that making a horse feel pain every day of its useable life and a long time after is acceptable? And, more importantly, are there any rescues actively campaigning to stop this? How do the so called 'trainers' look at themselves in the mirror?

  • I am sickened. I can't believe I was around horses since I was seven and I had no idea. Now I can see why the gaited horse barn down the road from my hunter barn didn't like it when we visited out of curiosity. I saw the chains.

  • HOW OLD IS THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!

  • Sounds like the DQP is bought and paid for!

  • Never ceases to amaze me what entertains people. They look like they are trying to crawl with their back end. It's not truly how they were bred to perform.

    OH

and I dont think I'd wear a heavy bracelet if I had to walk on my hands with a rider on my back that I'm trying to please.

    nice comparison....

Watch for the truth through the lies

  • damn medicine or in this case chemicals IM SURE YOU'LL ENJOY IT SINCE ITS "HARMLESS" oh ya and p.s

are bracelets arent rough and metal and dont rub our skin to the bone thank you very much. you sick fucks!

how the fuck can you look in the damn mirror you make me sick you sick bunch of fucks!

  • im sorry i should probably let you all go on bieng sick bastards but then it would be wrong of me not to say anything..so these horses are beautiful horses dont fuck it up by causing them pain and putting chemicals on them. YOU SAY ITS NOT COMMON? okay that makes it fucking right? ITS COMMON ENOUGH! more than one person is doing it and thats already enough! if you have the heart to watch this and defend these sick bastards than you are one and we all hope you fucking get a taste of your own

  • This whole Big Lick business is horrible and should be outlawed altogether - there's just too much corruption in it and too many loopholes for people to sore their horses and get away with it. I watch those poor horses do their gaits and it looks as if it's a great effort for them to move. Also, many of the so-called inspectors are in cahoots with the trainers and riders and won't snitch on them if there's big money involved somewhere. It's all just a sad, sad mess.

  • I wish there were more competitions for 'natural' walkers - no chains, no clogs, nothing but the horse.

They have such a wonderful extravagant natural movement - a delight to see.

  • i keep hearing this word natural. is a horse born with a person on its back? with a bit in its mouth? most trainers dont sore. chains dont hurt if not sore. that guy in video was painting the hoof and pads black to make horse look better. some of you people must be ignorant

  • Ok. Not every biglick owner sores them. I have 2 biglick geldings, and they do fine with the pads and chains. But, we dont sore them. The chains are fine if there not that heavy, which i never use more than 6oz at a time. Unless theiir sored, it really does hurt them. But please remember, not every walking horse owner sores their horses. Even flatshod horses get sored, mostly, evert gaited breed is sored. But not all of them. I lvoe mine, and would NEVER hurt them or put them in pain

  • i dont understand how stupid people can be. this is the most unnatural and awkward gait ever. how is that pretty? people complain about dressage being unnatural, but this is just horrid... those poor horses

  • The natural gait of these horses is beautiful but this gait... it's disgusting.

  • I AGREE :(

  • Most horses are not treated like that! They have a nateral gait! Yes,i own one and yes, i dont tret him like that!! And i never will! So dont critsize them please! Its not the horses foult, its the owners!!

  • they say the chains dont cause harm to the horse and when that woman referred to a goldchain a human wears, she makes it sound like the horse doesn´t even notice the chain. My question; why use smth that doesn´t cause ANYTHING to the animal, then? Same with many rodepeople; they say the horses dont feel discomfort from the shockdevice, so why is it used to make the horse BUCK wildly? Veeeery confusing if u ask me O.o

  • its funny .. cause those little shoes that people put on their cats and dogs dont harm them .. but yet they pick their legs up higher when they have them on .. dont they

  • HOTDIGTYD, first you try to shift the focus by talking about all the other breeds, then you compare pads and chains to dog booties. You're an IDIOT! You said you don't even own Walkers. You've probably never owned a horse, LMAO.

  • HOTDIGTYD: I´ve already replied to you but oddly dont see my comment here. * you´re comparing smth as hard as CHAINS to light fabric? the socklike boots/shoes are used only during cold wintry weathers, they PROTECT the dog´s feet from cold. Usually when I see a dog lifting it´s feet a lot, it´s about a dog that yet hasn´t got enough used to them. Mostly I see dogs that walk totally "normal" with their shoes. + they dont cause scars to the one wearing them.

  • chains dont either when used the right way .. and so dogs are suppose to get use to wearing little sock like boots .. sorry .. but thats cruel and no they dont protect the dogs feet in California .. maybe in Alaska .. but well the last dog i saw .. wasnt surrounded by snow and ice ..

  • of course you should never make a dog wear sock-type boots unless it´s a cold wintry weather outside! :D Who do I sound like to you, paris hilton? xD I prefer the sock-type "boots", because they´re not stiff nor do they even look like "boots".

  • @HOTDIGTYD yes, but cats and dogs eventually get used to the shoes, after a day or so. However, continuously soring the horses is what gets them to keep their high action, otherwise, the heavy shoe action would eventually go away.

  • @HOTDIGTYD Its because they don't like the feel not because they're are in pain. Cats and dogs aren't horses.

  • good point you have there... :P

  • It's all denial..even to themselves, that this is not harmful. It's clearly not natural.. they aren't born with stacks and chains! lol. This is only done in the USA..it's a Southern style of riding that came about from lack of exposure to the more sophisticated art of riding in Europe called Dressage.

  • I didnt quite catch your last sentence? O_o what do the chains have to do with dressage? I assume we have to looooong way back in dressage-history to see chains in horses feet??

  • I HATE SORING!!! SOOO CRUEL .... wHO WOULD WANT A HORSE TO GO THROUGH THIS TORTURE?!?!

  • hey I have a question for real horse-experts here! Horses are VERY sensitive, correct? How would you react, if some horseperson came to you saying "If you kick a horse with full strenght from ground, it doesn´t hurt it! it´s a good way of showing it who´s in charge, it´s COMMUNICATION!" Im just talking with such person.. horrible isn´t it?

  • You know the sad thing is, these people are caught on camera torturing horses and they continue to insist that it doesn't happen.

How do they even find that gait attractive? It's hideous.

Furthermore, if it really was natural like they claim, you'd see them doing it out in the pasture all the time and they wouldn't need pads or chains.

  • really .. if you can find someone and catch them on camera nowdays .. since this was shot back in the 80's .. you can be 10,000.00 dollars richer . and the running walk , and the flat walk is performed naturally in the fields , the pads and chains (which other breeds also use - that DO NOT HARM THE HORSE) just enhance the gait .

  • wrxhenry: "the flat walk is performed naturally in the fields" please note me with a link to a vid that shows a horse from this breed doing such on some field without a rider or anything on it. When there´s CLEAR PROOF of pads and chains causing harm to the horse, how can you claime the opposite?? OR it´s the same as it is with rollkür; when used incorrectly, they cause major harm. Either way, I bet the horses dislike both a lot.

  • .. the flat walk is the gait that the twh performs padded or not, ridden or not , a babe can flat walk in the field when they are just several days old ... and no there is no proof that pads and chains when used correctly harm the horse , studies done by vets even state when used properly they do not harm the horse ... there is proof that soring a horse harms them , and soring isn't the pad or chain .. and well there is less than 2% of shitty ass people that train with this method

  • This just makes me feel sick.. I can't believe there are human beings doing this to these harmless creatures just because they want them to look ''good''.

  • i dont give anyone thumbs down .. sorry i dont have time to do that .. but all you seem to want to do that to me ..

  • Ok so this is illegal, but shipping horses to be slaughtered in Mexico is not?!! Who made up the Horse Protection Act?!

    They were a fucking moron!!!!!

  • less than 2% of trainers even do this now .. and well sorry this shit is from the 80's ... which means .. OLD AND OUTDATED ...

  • It has come back stronger and as many as 16-20% of shown horses have been sored. Republicans don't support animal protection. Thank Bush family for the lax.

They own some sored horses themselves.

  • so i guess you show .. and you have been in the industry how long ..?? and well last time i checked checked in the last 25 + years i have been in it the numbers are down to less than 2% ..

  • /watch?v=Ce_Xhnr0FTs

  • Okay first off, I DO NOT believe that all THE owners and trainers do this. I believe there are many out there that really do love their horses and do what is best for them, BUT I DO NOT believe that only 2% or less are using these methods. I will bet a lot of money that there are many many more still using these methods, they just know how to hide it better.

  • its funny.. since all the groups you mention say that pads , chains , and bands are LEGAL when used correctly... and well sorry for you .. but again less than 2% of trainers still train using these shitty methods .

  • Look at all the thumbs down on the comments here. I'm sure they're trying to pretend nothing is happening, as usual. Be sure to write to the TWHBEA, USDA, NHSC, & the TN & KY congressmen & encourage the prohibition of pads, bands, chains, & all other gadgets and gimmicks in the show ring, & encourage them to enforce the White Paper to a "T." While I doubt we can ever completely eliminate soring because it's ingrained in their culture, we can at least make it harder & harder for them to do it.

  • i agree with this, it is very very messed up.

however i don't know much about it so i probably shouldn't be saying anything. But i will never do this!

  • Listen to the remarks in the video and read all the comments on Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Those who use the pads and chains are still saying the SAME DAMN THING they said in the eighties. Nothing has changed. BUT it's about to.

Their day of reckoning is nigh.

  • But I do agree that some things inside TWHBEA are changing but there is still resistance from within. These trianing methods are so deeply imbedded into the industry, esp in the heart of TN, that change will be very slow unless forced by the Association itself.

  • the majority of the problems are not within the heart of Tn , but within Ky.

  • FYI-how much the animal weighs is irrelevant. The fact that ligament, bone & tendon is millimeters under the skin near any joint is a fact.Studies done & paid for by people who condone the practice is also irrelevant!Read AAEP White paper report.take a class on anatomy & Physiology to help u understand the kenetics of movement and injury prevention.I know people with x show perf. TWH, most of them have some degree of lameness if ridden for any length of time, though the owners refuse to admit it

  • so thats why i have a 29 soon to be 30 year old twh that was padded for 15+ years with no problems whatsoever ...

  • its funny studies have been done that prove chains of a certain weight dont harm the horse .. and well last time i checked .. 6 ozs is light as a feather compared to a 1200 lb horse ..

  • Soring is disgusting. The people who would do this type of thing to their OWN horse make me sick. How could you intentionally injure your horse?! If you have horses you obviously like them and want to be around them...so this doesnt even begin to make sense to me!

  • The "big lick" is not natural for a walking horse and the first walker Allen-F1 was not padded, chained or sored to get his smooth groung covering gait. This gait should not be the judge of a TWH.

  • This is just my OPINION since I'm just getting into horsey knowledge, but the gait does look a bit odd and the reason alot of those horses pass the inspection is because they've been trained to handle pain. But, honestly, the padded shoes are just like the 6in heels some people wear.

Before you start giving me thumbs down, I'm not trying to say any of this is fact. It's an OPINION.

  • for one , the pads are nothing like spiked heels .. for two .. just because a horse has pads doesn't mean they are sore , and soring doesn't have anything to do with pads since even keg shod horses can be sored .

  • i heard that people hurt quarter horses to make them trot slower and some trainers do that and some trainers sore there walkers but not all of them so why are you saying that every trainer does? so yea dont say that every one does when your dreamin that!

  • Its just to enhance the horses natural gait, chains and pads don't hurt the horse. You all need to actually understand what "soring" is. Its not adding pads and chians. Any of you jump? Its okay to have to inject hocks because you jump them over 6ft jumps? You think thats good on their legs? Half of you are hypocrits and need to mind your own business, and don't beleive everything you see on the internet.

  • my tenessee isnt sored but he lifts his legs all the way to his chest. if you guys are trying to ruin our tenessees? and thats not soring, they dont moan and groan:p

  • that is, in my opinion, one of the worst things you can do to a horse. It makes me sick. I just want to put all the trainers who use soring through what they put thier horses through!

  • I have five Walking Horses, and all are barefooted and happy, sweet horses. Their natural gaits are beautiful and easy to sit, and they receive regular trimming from the farrier. Two of them have been rescues, and have been hurt by horrible trainers. I would never sell them because I am afraid I could not protect them from people like this.

  • they look so STRANGE!

lifting their legs like that it looks awful!

  • My opinion is that it's looks awful the action is un-natural and to me seems difficult for the horses

  • I have raised TWH horses for over 20 years and

it will and IS changing the NWHA the national Walking Horse Association is holding at some shows a NO TOLERANCE (ZERO) Policy on any type of abuse and that is the standard that is happening throughout the shows in many states ,and people like me are happy too see the changes happening ,-judges need to place appropriately and need to be held accountable for placing good quality Horses standards have to change -Quality Horses and hardwork!PERIOD

  • Whatever - chains and pads do harm the horse and hurt them. Especially when you have chemicals rubbed all over their feet. Damn. What idiots

  • do you think everyone uses shitty ass training methods ... sorry for you but now less than 2 % of shitty trainers use these methods and well the USDA and the twh industry are working really hard to get rid of soring , and those shitty trainers .. but all in all the pads and chains dont harm the horse .

  • That is AWEFUL to put a horse through that just so you can win.

  • Wow, what an excellent video. Not only do you have very good coverage of the whole subject, but your written notes are excellent as well, complete with the history of soring and even a petition to sign. Rarely have I seen such a well-prepared and presented video on a subject. Thank you very much for helping to spread the word on this type of abuse of our fellow animals. I had actually never heard of it before, and I thought I was pretty well informed on animal cruelty. Thanks again!

  • It's true. In no way do the chains or pads harm the horse. Atleast mine don't. How other people use the chains i don't know. But i have yet to see anyone who has harmed their horse or horse's by using chains. The horse's on this video look as if they've been mistreated. If you use the chains right, in no way will it harm your horse! This video is sick.

  • omg. i never knew this. its horrible. I looked this up after seeing the definition of soring on the ASPCA website.

    its disgusting

    made me cry

    poor horses

  • The natural gait is fine. If the horse didnt react to the pain he would be sold and not go though it.

  • pads and chains dont harm the horse ....

  • its true they dont .. there was a study done that showed the pads and chains do not harm the horse .... not to mention the twh breed IS NOT the only breed to use pads and chains ...

  • wow, i guess you are stuck back in the 80's .. since a lot has changed this this bull shit video came out..

  • well lets see .. you admit you dont know anything about the breed .. but you think it needs to be stopped ... and well the twh isnt the only horse to use pads or chains , but no one cares about the other breeds that use the same ...

  • The chains don't matter.. It's the fact they put something like karosine on it to make it hurt when the chain hits his legs... Don't be stupid.

  • less than 2% of shitty trainers even use those again "shitty methods" and well the rest may use pads and chains .. but again they have done studies that prove chains and pads DO NOT HURT THE HORSE .
