  • I have loved this man since I was alittle girl. His voice is starting to give out,,,,,but then he is too. No singer will ever be as great to me as this man! I love you George!!!!!!

  • @purrfect48 I agree ! what a artist . love george

  • my ex played this for years when i put him out the final time........ he should have been decent !!!

  • I cannnot beleive the feeling i have when i listen to this song bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  • God, this version really makes me cry, his voice is raspy but he still put so much feeling into it...there's no one like George Jones! Glad he's lived long enough to see how much his fans love him.

  • Every man has his demons, and George Jones was no different. As a entertainer he always wow's the crowd. But at the end of the day he is just a man with problems like everyone else.Sometimes people drink to forget or numb themselves, to what is haunting them. And maybe even regrets that hurt. I am not making excuses for him, I just understand him and the pain he feels.

  • @Bastards1961 How True My Friend.

  • I love every song this man has ever sang!!!!!!!! Love you George.

  • I don't even like country music..but George Jones is great!

  • The Possum, won't ever be another one. That shit they call country music today is a joke. Honky-Tonk is dead.

  • The old fart still sings great when he shows up. Always very entertaining. Probably one of the greatest in country music ever.

  • fk george jones, hes lame.JACOBPAULJAKESONE-

  • No One Will Ever Be Able To Fill George Jones Shoes, He Is The All Time Great!

    We Love You George

  • A TRUE legend of country music.Even through video you can feel his greatness.

  • they tricked him that night; they told him he was performing at Grand Ole WHISKEY.

  • the best of the bests ...!!! !!! for ever

  • @brushcreekbunnybustr AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Bushrod555 isnt this new country just sad i mean some of it is good but most of it isnt worth a hoot

  • this is such a good song...brings out the love in yourself.

  • The BEST song George ever recorded.

  • This song sounds better and better the older he gets.....:)

  • Anyone know what year this was?

  • @wilson200011 i believe it was 2007, the opry channel has it posted on their yourtube channel

  • @wilson200011 80 years old

  • fucking love you george

  • love you george jones still ;love the old possom i saw you u in barrie ontario loved it

  • @captainmyi you can go suck George Jone's koch you nasty troll.

  • but hes still george jones it dont matter that his voice is faded

  • @captainmyi I'll be honest...I've heard the version in 1980, and I own the version of "...And Ones I Missed" (after 2005). I prefer the latter because his aged voice gives age to the song, and makes it really feel like a pain the character has carried for so many years.

  • This song, and the Possum's vocals, stands out among all other country songs. I can't seem to sing it without using George's phrasing, because you just can't do it any better. You're the man George Jones.

  • Bless his heart.

  • @twinsharon "Amen" Love Ole George.

  • World's Greatest Country singer. Hands Down

  • I LOVE GEORGE I remember when I was a boy and mommy and daddy were young like George , and the music was on top of the fridge in AM--SALL WE HAD I was born in '''53' and my George is still my most faverite --and the Beatles Jim nJones

  • Awwwww yiiiieeeea.

  • @twins8956. So was your daddy obviously. George Jones carries the scars of a lifetime of alcoholism. The women you claim he "beat" knew this going in,as Oprah says,"if he hits you and you stick around, well then you probably need help yourself".Matter of fact, that Tammy ??what's her name? who told all of this man's secrets died from drug addiction,,,is she better than he? And why are you on here to begin with if you feel this way??

  • @sevinstorey damn right! AND GEORGE JONES GOT OVER HIS ADDICTION! SHE DIED FROM HERS!! SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STAY OFF HIS MUSIC IF U DONT LIKE HIM!!! DUMBASS!

  • i dont believe this , praising this guy he was a wife beating drunken ahole

  • @twins8956

    that is what booze does.

  • drunken moron

  • Comparing Jones with these new so-called country artists is like comparing a Porsche Carerra with a damn dump truck.

  • I cant listen to this without crying reminds me so much of my dad.

  • super voice george.ur amazing

  • I love, in older artists like George Jones (and Johnny Cash before he died), when you can really hear the age in their voices, especially in songs like this one when it's so emotional and talking of heartbreak, pain, years going by, regrets, etc. Even w/his voice breaking at a couple of points, he still sounds fantastic and the age in his voice just lends so much to the song. Johnny Cash really gets me with his cover of "Hurt" - especially when I think of how the song applied to his life.

  • A LEGEND !!

  • He still sounds good after all these years. He is the best country singer that ever lived.

  • for you 3 dislikes I'd love to see you pull off what you just watched at any age let alone Georges.

  • I need your help remembering a song back in 1986. I know some lyrics: " I turned around and you were gone" Anyone pleas help me with some suggestions. Can't remember who sings it. Thanks

  • @joaquinmurrieta1850 is it old friend-angus and julia stone possibly? home i helped

  • @tcjb666 . I looked it up but can not find the title to my song. Thanks anyway.

  • we just want you to know george from all of us in the great ole usa, we all love you!!! you are the best!!!

  • God bless his Heart. Just Wonderful...!

  • As if he's appologizing!! Love you George, til I die.

  • George was the best!! R.I.P.

  • @jiveturkeynjunk he's still alive :) but i will agree he's the best of his kind

  • @jiveturkeynjunk george ain't dead, however is is one of the best

  • no singer will ever match the great george jones.

  • Jesus..I love this version more than the rest...I can imagine my daddy singing this to my mom, from up above...rusty voice and all, but pure passion...they were divorced..yet she sat at his death bed without sleep for 3 days straight..no one like my mama.....God Bless her And God Bless George Jones....

  • They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • Being an older southern man, I love to read the comments of you lovely ladies of the south. Wish our awesome God had given me singing or instrumental musical abilities, so I could get some of your sweet comments, too.

    MAY THE SOUTH RISE AGAIN!!

    Ole johnny B.

  • i cry every time i hear this song, its beautiful. i love it.

  • It's bad to get old but what hurts me more is to see the Legends get old. But George is still out there doing his music and that's great. Allergies and age are taking there toll on his voice, but he ain't giving up. Great job George!!!

  • George is gettin old

But He still Don't need your rockin chair!!

  • If it wasn't for my dad I wouldn't know who George Jones is. He played all his music when I was a little girl. Love George then love him now:)

  • i was raised on his music. being from wva, george and tammy was the best honky tonk bars and smoke felled taverns , that's where u were on a saturaday nite.Ain't notin better than havin a beer n 1 hand a cig in the other and singing n her ear I'll love u tell the day I die! You no george did a hole lot a crazy shit. But hell we all did back then!

  • AWESOME AS ALWAYS !!!

  • i took my dad to see him nd he will always be the great man of his time! nd this song reminds me of my dad nd mom bc my mom passed 2 years ago nd he loved her until the end nd still does to this day!

  • i watched. i listened. i cried.

  • He isn't milking his reputation. He didn't come out there for himself...he came out there for his fans. I'd say of anyone, HE knows he doesn't sound like he used to and I'd say it bugs him far more than any fan of his, because we enjoy his music no matter what

  • my most favorite song in the world

  • As for hearing aids, wtf? Males are known for loosing their hearing at age 65, plus when you have load music all your life. It's a giving. Get real now.

  • People who are bitching about his age and singing abilities, I would love to see now a singers sound like him from what he's been through and his age. He's know to have the most outstanding, and beautiful singing voices of all time. Every country singer looks up to him. Real country Music Fans would know exactly who is he, and what he's done. You're beautiful George. In Every way possible way!

  • I don't care at all if his voice cracks, he don't have to apologize at all for anything, some ppl need to show some respect for Jones he sang more life in his songs for the past 56 years than all the ungreatful so called fans who say he needs to retire or he sounds terrible. show him some respect or watch the younger videos.

  • I don't care at all if his voice cranks, he don't have to apologize at all for anything, some ppl need to show some respect for Jones he sang more life in his songs for the past 56 years than all the ungreatful so called fans who say he needs to retire or he sounds terrible. show him some respect or watch the younger videos.

  • This isn't some imitator of other singers . This is an ORIGINAL singer. This is REAL country music. This is a LEGEND. This is the one and only, the original, the legendary GEORGE JONES!

  • please take it easy on the old guy! first, he's old and when you get old you tend to lose things that served you well in your youth. second, George has been a functional alcoholic most of his life which doesn't help your signing or overall general health. i'm amazed he's still standing! third, note the hearing aids in his ears. he's half-deaf so forgive him if he drifts off vocally a few times. he's probably singing mostly from memory now.

  • @maytaurus61 I agree, except those are not hearing aids.

  • Is he ok here ?

  • It's pathetic to see the greatest C&W singer of all time struggling so badly. He should retire gracefully.

  • @ashuk1000 Even in his late years he is great, because his voice cracks.. means nothing. respect the country greats......

  • @Dwright2020 I do respect George Jones, I have been a fan for more than 40 years during which period I have seen him live on 3 occasions (twice in the US even although I love in Scotland); all I am saying is that he simply cannot sing any more and rather than milking his reputation, he should do the honourable thing and retire. I am sure he doesn't need the money. I saw him 3 or 4 years ago in Myrtle Beach and his "performance" was a travesty then but it is so much worse now.

  • George will always be one of the best. There were many great C/W singers when I grew up in the 50's. Hank Snow, Marty, Faron, Lefty, Hank Thompson and Williams of course. Who indeed are going to fill their shoes? They killed Country Music, without a shot being fired, as Jackson said in his song. Give the old ones a hand! Town Hall Party in Compton, Ca.with Merl Travis, Les (carrot top Anderson) , Joe Maphis, Merl Travis etc. Then Cliffie Stone with his "Home Town Jamboreen in El Montie.

  • this is country am concerned about the direction of country pop today go back 2 the roots, i remember in a little fishing village uncles grabbing the guitar & playing this when they would all come back from ther catch ! memories thxs george

  • if it weren't for the great musicians of the past such as Merle, George, Hank Sr., Tammy Wynette the people that we think are 'great' wouldn't be here. Merle, George, Hank sr. , Tammy Wynette were some of the true legends of Country and the pioneers of the Grand Ole Opry

  • Go George, Go....

  • The Living Legend himself!!! ALWAYS a pleasure to listen to. Love you, George :)

  • These are some of the sweetest words ever written

    Thanks for posting this

  • i played this at my daddy's funeral it decribe's my parent's completely i miss them everyday of my life will be so glad when the good lord take's me home to them

  • It's heartbreaking to see George getting old,

We love ya George, see ya in heaven buddy

  • If you Google "Country Music" it should just be a picture of George!

  • I hate the fact that this song makes me think of my ex wife. I hope I stop loving her before it comes to that.

  • @landamo Well, bud, do like I do...I think of how much money she was burning through, how many lies she told me (and keeps telling me), and how she's still telling everyone the "poor me" stories when she's the one who threw me out...do that, and you'll learn to hate the bitch.

Oh, and it helps that I only think about her once a month when I write that alimony check...

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of my father.. RIP Dad

  • The day George Jones goes to heaven to play on gods opry stage the music world will stand silent and saddened. The world will never know another possum.

I hope Nashville is smart enough to play as much Jones as possible so that a young generation is fortunate enough to have known his precious gift of music.

  • @airborneassasin i live close to nashville and just about everyday of the week you can go through the radio stations and find some george jones to listen to.

  • greatest love song...and god love him with his iklness he gave it all. love you george jones. greatest country singer and song....had to live it to sing it, right george?

  • greatest love song of all time. Good night Hal.

  • Aww the old dudes starting to sound old now. Still love him

  • The Old Possum is still the BEST. This song is one i play lot on my guitar, and at times it brings tears to my eyes ,from the words.

  • We saw George in concert a couple of nights ago. At 79 yrs old, he rocked the stage to a sold-out house & it was truly amazing to see. He sang all of his big hits & THEN SOME. My 2nd favorite GJ song is "Picture of Me Without You" & I was afaid he wouldn't sing it but he did. Of course the crowd went WILD when he sang, "He said I'll love you til I die". If you get an opportunity to see him in concert, you won't be disappointed. He's a REAL LIVING LEGEND and a great performer!

  • The only man that will be as big as Elvis. Gotta love George Jones.

  • I hear this song and I'm 16 yrs old taking my dad's old truck out on a date...Nothing but a scratchy AM radio and an 8 track player. That work truck smell of cigarettes, coffee, and diesel.... Pop had a few tapes and George Jones was a favorite.... Now I'm as old as my dad was then...I like the old stuff too........ my dad- hardest working guy I've ever known

  • he'sd the greatest i guess , and maybe not but he was , he is and will always be there .

    from Belgium

    Willy thanks for posting

  • THEY'LL PLAY THIS AT MY FUNERAL......

  • just think your watchin one of the best real country singers standing on that stage and he has earnd his right to, unlike todays crapie singers that is not country and stands on it when they have no right to at all,,,,,,, In my opinion George Jones is the best of em all

  • George Jones has so many hits and will always be a country music icon.

Age doesn't matter as the same when the good Lord takes him home he will

continue to be a Legend in the Country Music World...George Jones is Country!!

I am watching a George Jones Special right now "Soundstage" from 2009 and

he can still hit the notes and is lookin' pretty good for an 80 year old man. So much he is respected in this country world so many stars showed up to celebrate 50 years in Country. You Go George!!

  • Loretta Lynn's 76 and she could still sing beautifully. Her voice is still good. I hope Reba's will be as well when she's in her 70's.

  • I saw him in concert tonight and he's still got it!!! He'll be 79 in September.

  • He's great....stop with the apologies. He's a legend.

  • This version is great too :D

  • No one can do it like George, he sings with the least effort, the music just flows out of him. He makes me feel the pain on losing his love. I think he look good too, but then, I'm in my sixties.

  • this song is great he is still great GAC had his 50 celebration on TV the other day it was great

  • one of the greatest and to me this is the classic country song

  • I can't speak the praise I have for him, what a gift we have.

    He will never be forgoten.

  • He looks pissed at :54

  • One of the best songs ever! I love u daddy!:)

  • I just went to the 2010 George Jones Fan Club Party in Brentwood Tennessee this past Thursday, June 10th. I got an autograph and Nancy used my camera to take the picture. He was so gracious. What a man and what a life. I know he has aged but I will continue to go see him whenever I can and will always treasure getting to meet him. From the Hoosier State, God Bless you George and Nancy!

  • LOVE ME SOME GEORGE JONES. VERY SAD TO SEE HIS VOICE BEGIN TO FADE. SURE GOING TO MISS HIS SINGING. AT LEAST I HAVE SEEN HIM LIVE AND WILL CHERISH THAT CONCERT FOR A LIFETIME.

  • WOW!! listen to the emotion he puts in the song, his voice may be going, but his voice is very mellow now and it sounds even better than the late 80's.

  • I cry every time I listen to this song. It is definately the best country song ever written.

  • This is the best damn country song period!

  • When he goes to his reward I will be in mourning for a long time!!!

  • George Jones came to know the Lord after his car accident. He was very depressed and called Vestal Goodman. They sang Amazing Grace together. He seems to have a good heart............Gwen Weaver

  • playin possum & layin low

  • One good dog is worth 10 pretty ladies [except Mom, of course].

    You may quote me.

  • This Man Is The Greatest Vocalist In Country Music History, Noone Will Argue That Fact. His Voice Is Not As Good As It Once Was But Not Bad For Aman In His Late 70's.

  • This song still gives me goosebumps. It's beautiful.

  • Only George Jones can sing it better. He is the greatest of all time

  • You just don't get real heart felt Country songs like this anymore..

  • he should retired

  • @gomerpyle2009 he should retired makes no sense. Do you mean he should have retired? Do you mean he is retired? Do you mean has retired? Are you drinking?

  • Old possum? lol

  • I love this song.....Never get's old...

  • ole george set the path for all the rest. God bless him. Thats whats country is all about mac in Big "D"

  • The best song of all time and seeing him on the opry live, says it all.

  • George will always be number 1!

He can afford to make mistakes without it means anything

  • this song is very moving and i love it. george jones is a legend now and forever

  • Got a little confused on the lyrics there in the beginning lol. But George is a country legend for sure. You can't say youre a country music fan if you dont like Jones.

  • Sorry exuse me, Dolly just did some. But she's still got it to!

  • He's getting up there in age. Everyone does, everyone will. I still enjoy George even if his face is fading, along with his voice. We got to reamber, he's 78. Most country singers stop in there fifties. I havn't seen Dolly for awhile live. Reba is getting up there in age also, she's 56. But's she still got it!

  • @wabamlol saw willie nelson recently hes still got it

  • @wabamlol

I am watching a special of George Jones 50 Years in the Country World.

For an 80 yr old man he's lookin' pretty good. Dolly was just on live last week with Kenny Rogers celebrating 25 yrs of Dollywood she sings there quite often with Kenny. As for Reba she has had recent hits & 56 ain't nothing now days remember 50's the new 40 Reba is looking good mc'ing this show. She recently sang w/B&D Cowgirls Don't Cry & Have You Seen Him and Stay To Close to the sidewalk with Kelly Clarkson.
