When I first saw Dianne Kay, I thought it was Reba! I never saw this reunion (loved the first one) and glad I didn't - wouldn't want to see anyone but Betty Buckley playing Abby!
ROTFL!!!.....What a cheesey opening. Man that was one skanky mullet Willie Aames was sporting. That cell phone probably only allowed 3 full minutes of call time before it drained the battery. It's nice that Adam Rich got out of jail and or rehab just in time this reunion. I grew up during this time and looking back, man were some of the styles bad.
Would have been funny if Willie Aames got out of that car with Scott Baio... lol. No clue why they didn't keep the original theme though. Update the theme music for the movie if you have to. Don't change it to something totally different. That was a mistake.
Diane Kay's hair style and dark color look awful. Blonde suits her much better. Why did she have dark hair here? Is dark brown her natural color or did she just want to go dark? And Susan as a blonde? She looked awful too. She was so much prettier with red hair. At least if she was going to dye it blonde she shouldnt have dyed it platinum. None of the cast looked good in this movie. Connie probably looked the best of anybody and David without a doubt looked the best of the guys.
The 2nd reunion wasnt nearly as good as the first, but how can anyone say Dianne Kay looked hideous?? It was the late 80s...she looked like anyone else did then. Willie Aames looked like a punk, though.
My complaint about the reunion movies was the absent Betty Buckley (I know difficult to work with) but I still missed the original Abby...and the second movie had that awful theme music...Why not the original music? I didn't hate either movie but the first reunion movie was the better of the two! Plus they used the original music. I didn't like Mary Frann as Abby but I did like Sandy Faison as Abby:-)
Betty Buckley (or her representatives) were difficult when negotiating to do the first reunion in 1987...so much so that the production company walked away from the table and hired Mary Frann. For this second reunion, they never even approached Buckley to do it.
@fightermanizdebest : Um...maybe she didn't want to star in a cheezy reunion movie? I heard she was a Broadway star. LOL- gee, it's a real mystery she'd turn this down...
1989....the year where multi-colors, BMWs, tie-dye tee-shirts, mullets, yuppies, the bumper stickers that read "Die Yuppie scum", huge-ass cell phones, etc. were all the rage back then. It was really a transitional year where materialism was in full force during the GWB Sr. era.
They showed this movie on TVLand not too long ago. I remember it back in 1989. Willie Aames' mullet was a laugh a minute. It was like a porn star's mullet from the late 80s. Around this time, he was still on the syndicated Charles In Charge show and I believe this is where Willie's friendship with Scott begins to fizzle a bit.
In 1987, NBC had the first Eight Is enough movie opposite The World Series on ABC. Willie Aames hit a home run! In the 1989 sequel (again opposite the World Series), it simply struck out!
I was disappointed that Tommy Bradford ditched his music career to be a manager. Reuben Kincaid, he isn't!
I'm glad that Houston pre-empted some of the movie due to Hurricane Jerry threatening the Gulf of Mexico.

I hated that they didn't use the Season 4 version of theme or at least remixed it, but that was 18 years ago and i'm over it now.
