I'm real interested in this blade, but wondering one thing that I haven't been able to find anywhere. Who makes this thing? It looks pretty nice in quality but I can't find it on any of the most well known and some not so well known manufacturer's. Anyone know the manufacturer that builds this Nagamaki?
I just bought this today, And it's really amazing. Everything is awesome, heavy long and sharp. Only thing that sucks about it, It's not full tang...After the second mekugi(peg) it's just really weak :/ So if you hold it past the second mekugi, it might break. That's why in the video when he swings he holds it in between the mekugi, But other than that, It's a really awesome decoration piece.
yes, you are right. I was just commenting that it wasnt really what one would think off when you hear "nagamaki". Will you be putting out a nagamaki with a traditional pole and fittings? I am somewhat interested, being that nagamaki are almost impossible to find nowadays, but the handle just throws me a bit. I have only heard good things about your products as well, so that also fuels the interest.
The same kind of blade mounted on a pole is called a Naginata. Nagamaki means it's a polearm that uses a tsuka, or wrapped handle, as opposed to a pole.
true but your weapon thre has a retarded huge blade. nagamaki were katana length blades with equivalent tsuka and were more swept more like a large naginata blade.
Cold Steel...*shivers* (at the price). I wish you guys had more naginata than just that one your site has. I already have a nagamaki and a nodachi. Just lookin' for a fairly-priced, good quality naginata.
I know. There's one that I found on Amazon made and sold by Pachi Paradice that appears to be of exquisite quality sells for $576.99 and ten bucks S&H. It's a beautifully crafted polearm that I'd like to own someday, but on a college student's salary, $600 is NOT pocket change. Plus, my parents are already acting all funny cuz my walls are covered with full tang sharpened cutlery. They think I'm a ceremonial killer O_O
It almost looks as if his folks were like "Jimmy? Your father and I are going out to see a movie, but we got you one of those Slim Jim's. Remember, no parties okay?" and he was like "Oh sweet thanks guys! I'll just.... what the fuck is that? It's frigging HUGE!"; so he was like "How am I going to eat this thing? I KNOW! I'll use my Nagamaki. Ha hah! Take that Slim Jim" :o
I don't know about everyone else, but while his cutting skills could use a bit of fine tuning, you have to admit that his lack of free space in the room combined with the size of the nagamaki and that to me, a swordsman, a blade of such size serves more for hacking under its own weight rather than the slashing elegance found in almost all katana.
Give the man a brake he has a business to run and iaijutsu kenjutsu a long a time consuming in there practice i personally love swords of might as a dealer and a resource for reviews bt i dont expect to learn proper form form a 30 sec video
I actually thought a nagamaki would be longer at the handle... then again i heard there are some variants...

I dont want to sound like an ass but you dont have good cutting technique so im guessing the nagamaki was really well made or something. sorry.

does the nagamaki have as much cutting power as the katana?
wapitiassassin 2 years ago
@wapitiassassin depends on the swordsman
cjrush1009 2 years ago
@wapitiassassin much more - tnagamachi has MORE cutting power than a katana, same edge bigger swrd, simple maths
LorysFan 2 years ago

It is a very nice weapon but it is more like an Odachi rather than a Nagamaki.
Delmo67 3 years ago 2
An odachi would have a shorter handle and longer blade.
