my horse is really head shy as he had an accident and he cut his head. this was quite a while a go now but i can still not even get a bridle on him. i had to undo the whole bridle and then put it on and do it back up. i love my boy and want the best for him. any idea how i could help him get over his head shyness so i can put a bridle on him and pat his head?? i cant even get any where near his forelock he is so head shy!! please help me!! haha any ideas what i can do??

Hi John, your fast hands over the ears technique totally worked for me today with my mare! I was able to go from fast to a little slower and even back and forth between her ears without her moving her head where before she had a serious pulling back reaction. Thank you so, so much! :D I wouldn't have thought of fast hands on my own.

Head shy is not always due to fear. It can also be due to muscle pain.

My new horse WAS head shy. I had the vet do a chiropractic adjustment and he stopped throwing his head. I followed it up with massage and now there is no problem at all.

like to ask a question;

I can get him to let me touch his ears pretty good now but then when I go to the stage of putting the bridle over his ears he flicks his head away as he used to before, had no trouble putting the bit in his mouth. I have been running the end of the carrot stick over his ears and he has got ok with that but not letting me put the bridle part on the ears, any ideas? thanks Janelle
