stating that there are "few artists" of the oboe is also very insulting and saying that most oboists have limited versatility is plain ignorant. just look at all the major orchestras out there and you will see my point. for one, check out some of the albrecht meyer stuff here on youtube. there are also some great videos from orchestras like philadelphia, chicago and the met opera.
i chose to stop responding to someone resorting to childlike comments and name calling. Albrecht Meyer and Emmanual Abbhul are by no means 'common" oboe players. Look at the major symphonies and you'll find that even out of those numbers, very few are at the same level as they are. Only the best of the best reach that level. No one said that most have lmiited versatility, but we said most are not at this level. His loss, not mine.
I do like the sound of this oboe, but I can't get used to the lip vibrato. I don't hate it, it's just different. I heard he uses a Ludwig Frank oboe. Is this correct?
Vibrato on oboe is not natural. People just never seem to understand that. And yes, I agree with hiya321, jaw vibrato is great when it is controlled. I think Fumiaki's vibrato sounds amazing. Besides, you mostly use jaw vibrato in the German style of oboe playing.
I actually prefer jaw vibrato rather than diaphragm. With the diaphragm, there isn't as much pitch oscillation but more volume. In my opinion, it sounds much better.

That's well played except vibrato and taste.. But I hate Pop music on the oboe, it sounds very kitchy, its owfull!!!

Very good sound and very romantic a performance but I dont like vibrato because he is doing from the lip.

i agree about the vibrato.The vibrato is supposed to be natural not forced.other than that it was amazing!
