Dame Joan was often difficult to understand even when she was singing in English but it never seemed to matter because the voice itself was so magnificently nimble, clear and powerful that it overwhelmed listeners with its sheer beauty. I saw her sing many times and she was always thrilling. She is much missed and fondly remembered by her fans and admirers everywhere. Thanks for posting!
