I just checked a gameplay video for Pete Rose Baseball... While the graphics are awesome, the gameplay seems just slow and boring. Homerun is fast and simple, I think it seems a lot more fun.

Some people, like me, have no problems running backwards and flipping mid-run, like, two steps in.

It's actually harder to get a fast running start from a standing position, because reaction time is a bitch if you're not really sure you hit the ball or not. Those inches are precious.

Oh man, I didn't dig this game. Super Baseball was so much better. This game just was mediocre and reminded me of baseball for the NES.

NES: Baseball Stars

SNES/Genesis: Super Baseball: 2020.

And "The Show" games for the PS2/PS3 are great too if you want a more modern game of baseball.

Mark, you're a Genesis guy, right? You should try Mutant League Hockey or Mutant League Football by EA for the Genesis. You can blow up and just annihilate the other team (or your own if you're not careful). It's an awesome game and I think you'll really like it. It would make for an awesome review.

I'm not a fan of indepth modern baseball videogames either.

However one old school version of the sport that I like is "The Slugger" (also known as "World Series Baseball") on the 8-bit home computers like the C64. Very simple, but good arcade-style fun.
