As for Ukko being the greatest god, this is in fact false. Sure, he was called "ylijumala" or "ylinen jumala", which we now translate to "high god", but this referred to where he lived: up in the sky. So, proper translation would in fact be "god of the above".

Only Christianity brought the idea of a single powerful god living "up" in Heaven, and thus Ukko transformed into "high god". Before that he was of course greatly respected, but not by any means a king among gods.

Ukko is definitely not a viking god. The similarity with Thor is easy to explain: every single pagan religion has a thunder god, because thunder has always been feared and respected.
