  • you dont need to convince me.

I think He's one of the big musicians!

    I m happy he's amongst us

    I love Nick

  • Nick Drake Lives! .. we all keep him alive when we let other people here his GREAT music, his spirit in another dimension appreciates what we think of him, so lets keep him breathing!

  • "Now that you're lifting your feet from the ground, weigh up your anchor and never look 'round" - words to live by

  • Imagine what this would sound like with the acoustic guitar playing and nothing else. Like the song "Fly"

  • I cant stop listening to Nick Drake. I've just discovered this amazing artist. What a talent!

  • @prime106 ...Its the best thing that will ever happen to your ears and heart I bought his 3 albums in the 70's and they are worn out...so I bought them on CD."Bryter Layter" was his best which this song comes from..Joe Boyd an American producer who brought his music to the Island label vowed that this and his other 2 Albums "Five Leaves Left" his first Album and his final Album "Pink Moon" would never be deleted. There are other Albums but these are his best..........

  • cant imagine what he would have been, such a loss rip

  • Does anyone know the cover that Nick Drake did, that was called "I will give you my world."? The song was this title or was very similar. Thanks for any info

  • Genial! contrasta un poco con el resto del álbum.....

  • Es rara... Pero muy buena!

  • My fav... So much fun the way he sings... just a fun groovy song. Love it.

  • surprised by the upbeat, major tonality in this track. just made the transition from countless listens of pink moon, and this song is just so out of left field. definitely out of his normal style, but i like it.

  • @thefl0ck I was just thinking the same.

  • Everything stops when i listen to this song.

  • Like it... rock and roll but not in an Al Stewart sort of way.

  • love it!!! i miss you and jeff so much!

  • amazing song...love you Nick...

  • The beginning of this song actually surprised me very much. I almost turned it off, but then I heard his singing and I knew it was him XD

  • poetry is a rebel call. For the way things were, natural order and law. spontaneous. and yeah the family no people. the second world war was fought against industrialism, for natural law. and so they learn about evolution and freud, and they the mind is in chains, it is subservient over its emotional response, save it up for the weekend and let your hair down. i see slaves, with no homes, they work for the system then act spontaneously on the storke of 8,. good evening, one must be careful

  • This is one of Nick's songs that I think could have been a hit single in the early 1970's.

  • 4 people are hazey themselves!

  • i liked his calm songs.

  • It shouldn't be possible to make a song this catchy...

  • Weasells bite you only when you arnt looking there sneaky lill devils i tells ye......ive bin studdin tham fer nigh on twenty year now...an conclusions i comes to is thery's sneaky....so..if yer out a ramblin...late at night ...beware.......theyl nip ye good n propper.

  • want to listen to a song writen for nick drake about nick drake? if so check out John Martyn - Solid Air (1987) shiveringgoat channel.

  • My favorite song in the world!

  • whoever disliked this, come see me, you fucking troll

  • @crookedrain771 I am the 2nd person who disliked this video ;D

  • @Beardmania cool, i was drunk when i wrote that, i can care less who likes this or not, its my favorite nick drake song is all.

  • @Beardmania Go to the doctor immediately and get you ears looked at!

  • @Beardmania actually now that i think about it...yr a queer ...you put it in my face ....that yr the second person who disliked it after i wrote that comment...wow ...i sense that yr trying to piss me off?? i dont like it bro

  • @crookedrain771 what's wrong with being a "queer"???? Anyway, many thought Nick Drake may well have been gay.

  • @GrungeHippie95 haha chill out buddy, i didnt insult gays, and i dont care if hes gay, or if yr gay...im not here to pick at someones sexuality..dont come at me like im against homosexuality

  • @GrungeHippie95 Yeah, he had two proper(ish) girlfriends but never had sex with them. I reckon he was in love with music.

  • @tobysfig "In love with music"...sorry i just threw up in my mouth a little. Some people take Nick drake too seriously, he was a good songwriter, thats all

  • @GrungeHippie95 stick to ymca ya cunt this is not for you ha ha

  • Comment removed

  • @micb666 Oh, I sort of hoped fellow Nick Drake fans would be.. nice people... I guess you can't have everything.

  • @crimsonandclover70 no you cant so piss off

  • Comment removed

  • @crookedrain771 ---- Agreed. I stand with you.

  • eleanor rigby reminds me of this song

  • Voice like Peter Skellern's...

  • @trzcinarowice For those of you who've never heard of Peter Skellern, and you can count yourselves amongst the fortunate, he was an amaible chap from the north of England who could knock out a tune on the piano. He had a couple of completely undeserved chart hits in the early 1970's and as I recall, wrote and sang a TV theme. As for being a singer, he could not carry a tune in a very large bucket, and for anyone to compare Nick Drake's voice to his is the ultimate in insults.

  • @23071957jazzman It was just my first impression.

  • but the point might be, if your not looking when your in the forest in the evening, you might get bitten by a weasel. maybe nick was saying take care and stay alert just in case it happens. then again if your not looking how do you know it was a weasel? and if it was a weasel could you actually blame him or her for having a little nibble?

  • woooo go Nick!

  • SOME PARTS OF THE SONG SOUNDS LIKE

    DIRE STRAITS- SULTANS OF SWING

  • Listening to Nick Drake at any age is a precious thing.

    R.I.P Nick Drake

  • this is the happiest sounding song of his, imo anyway.

  • Bryter Layter is fantastic and this is definitely one of the best tracks.

  • its a pitty he killed himself but at least he,s keeping us smiling

  • my fave song !!!!!

  • weasels ripped my flesh!

  • @jacksmiley53 FRANK ZAPPA!!!

  • this is just f*cking great

  • Happy Birthday Nick

  • Ignore the inaccuracies here. Nick Drake died in 1974 at the age of 26 from complications arising from an infected weasel bite inflicted upon him as he walked through the Forest of Arden one evening near his home in Tanworth whilst seeking inspiration for a problematic song lyric that he was composing. .

  • @pykkervots Is that a joke?

  • @koukides666...I'm sorry to say my friend...it's not true. Please excuse my Monty Python English sense of humour, I was just trying to lighten things up. I like to think Nick would have laughed or at least smiled.

  • open your eyes people !! one of the best artists of all time !! fuck mtv !!

  • @CloudStrife1038 in its ass

  • someone asked for an artist who makes them feel better- this guy is great, but rick danko does it best for me

  • A weasel attack is nothing to make light of. Trust me.

  • @pickwickbowl For serious. Not only is injury likely, weasels are know to carry various diseases, such as rabies and malaria.

  • hw did he die and what age ?? what else should i know ? just became a fan !!

  • @deadmonkey1987 He died in 1974 at 26. He died from an overdose of prescribed amitriptyline, possibly due to a combination of other pills and alcohol as well. His death is largely regarded as suicide, though there is speculation it may have been accidental.

  • @JoeDeceiver Nick wasn't a typical alcohol drinker. Try to find a website by an australian researcher, Michael Organ, he seems to have a careful analysis of what may have happened to cause Nick Drake's death. I don't think he was a "junk" but someone in painful mental illness.

  • Is there any artist wich gives you a better feeling than Nick Drake?

If so, can somebody tell me who?

  • @steebzs amitriptyline

  • @190jamie :)

  • great song. makes me happy/sad.

  • the best song

  • Nick is relatively new to me, and i find his music amazing, oh and his sister was in crossroads!

  • His music change my life!

  • This is a fantastic Nick Drake song; probably my favorite. I'm just getting into Bryter Layter and respect/appreciate Drake's work immensely. This song in particular is contemplative yet upbeat, which is tough to pull off.

I can't stop listening to it; it seems the more I do, the more I like the song.

  • If songs were lines

    In a conversation

    The situation would be fine.

  • nick you are an angel i fucking love you

  • just lovely. the perfect blend of nicks melancholic lyrics and voice coupled with wonderful upbeat backing.something very english about it like cricket on a summers day.

  • Weasels do not bite people in the forest in the evening....this is gratuitous slander and overtly weaselist. Neither do they go pop. Another slanted media fabrication. They are, however, very bad news to a rabbit....

  • Weasles can kill....if they bite enough of you.Beware Campers!

  • You are the greatest human being over.

  • Greatest human being ever, I mean.

  • @pykkervots even worse news for a herring.

  • @pykkervots unless the rabbit is mates with a fox

  • @pykkervots I must confess . . . your post is easily one of the top three I've ever read on youtube . . . and I can not think of the other two offhand . . . excellent!

  • The Clown's down today

    Tomorrow

    You never know what

    He might say

  • nice drake with musicals arrangements, this song is the best in this nick drake version... but i prefer only drake with guitar in the last album, ok, stop suicide, if youare depressed listen this song and this drake album better than the first an third.

Drake is magic, original playing acustic guitar, silence talk in songs, something like this impoisible, nevermore .

  • wow I just heard this for the first time

I never knew Drake to write such upbeat, almost pop-ish music! its beautiful

  • He was a melancholic spirit, no doubt.

But I love this song nevertheless.

  • can't look out the window in the morning

  • No its not a copy of Belle & Sebastian....Steve Maddock and him just have the same beautiful voice. But indeed it is very similar. I love both of them....and yeah it is terrible...why did he had to die so early!!!!!?????

  • @Daliah2603 Steve Maddock? thats the worst butchering of Stuart Murdoch i've ever seen.

  • Nick Drake is truly brilliant in every facet

  • listen bugo's version!

  • Yeah, just like how The Pixies ripped off Nirvana and Brain Wilson got his inspiration from Stereolab. lol

    :-)

  • @monachos81 I hope youre kidding...you realize that it was Kurt Cobain who liked the pixies and inspired his sound

  • @monachos81

Speaking of Stereolab, this is the earliest song with the motorik beat (Stereolab use it often) that I've heard.

This predates Neu! and Kraftwerk as well.

  • "Raymantico -

yes he copied them...I am from Sweden and so are Belle & Sebastian..."

Hahaha... Good one. Belle and Sebastien are from Glasgow, you clown.

  • You do know i was joking, don't you?

Trouble now is the comment by "chenepan" that started this is now hidden. He alleged that Nick, who passed away not long after Stewart and them were born, had copied Belle & Sebastian.

The line about B&S from Sweden I got from comments at another video. I 'm not from Sweden.

  • my mistake.

  • Peace to you, my brethren in Eire.

  • Sweet, hilarious memories! Misheard lyric moment from years ago...."What will happen in the morning when the whirlie-gig gets so crowded....!! Mental pictures of washing lines full of people...

but otherwise great music from a gentle genius.

  • lolz

  • i fuckin love this guy, his music is just, so soothin...

  • Yeah, there's some clever stuff going on at the start of this one! Quite different - I like it.

  • Clever addition of brass...some singing over the music had nothing to do with the time signature which is just brilliant!

  • such a sweet and upbeat song.great loss for music...

  • What a song!

  • One of my favorite songs from Bryter Layter, certainly Nick's most upbeat album. It's a great melody, Nick is in fine voice, crisp lead guitar by Richard Thompson, and wonderful production by Joe Boyd. As Nick notes "If songs were lines in a conversation, the situation would be fine."

  • absolute genius

    rest in piece

  • peace*,lol.soz
