the red paint was on the dummy for a good reason to test for places to improve on the already safest cars in the world volvo spend billions each year inmproving safety
Does ANYONE here type correctly and not in broken english? Looks like you people need an ENGLISH lesson. I personally am NOT satisfied with my 1999 Volvo C70 coupe right now. Oh and by the way, if that "dummy" were a human, they'd be screwed. :-D
What if you get a side impact after the frontal impact. The side curtain will be useless because it was already inflated and deflated again. That means you will not be protected from an side impact I am just saying.
It's funny how some dumb asses that can't drive well think they're so smart by buying a car based on it's "safety," usually going by rumors from their co-workers instead of studying raw data. Safety is good, but when you gloat about it, it shows that you are relying on the construction of a car because you intend to one day get into a bad fender bender. Great drivers don't need Volvos, they have skills and avoid accidents, hence the new adaptive cruise from Volvo... it's "idiot" proof driving.
Great Great Car! I had a chance for a test drive, with the 2.0 diesel, 163 hp, 400 Nm. Very very nice experience! You can see my experience with Volvo S60 by searching "Nicu Naum Volvo S60" or copy paste the link: youtube.com/watch?v=_PFT7mcD5GA
@impulse232 The smoke coming for the inside of the car? LOL...that's what happens when the airbags deploy. I think it's a powder to stop a fire if there's one or something like that.
@wafflescantalk Probably a compressed gas that's used to fire the bags (CO2 maybe?? dunno) and/or a powder that is used to keep the bag from getting stuck to itself? I guess if the bag is folded up for 4 years inside a steering wheel before it's needed, it might get stuck to itself, sort of like pizza dough without flour?? (bad analogy).
@wafflescantalk the smoke you see is a controlled explosion the explosive expands the bag that fast that it inflates it with air it has holes so it deflates as your body strikes it otherwise you may aswell hit the steering wheel if the bag stayed solid!
@beetletweed lol. with that opinion u willsoon be fucked in traffic. ofc you can buy and old car because u think you are a very safe driver, which i think you are. but it is so many idiots on the roads today u never know. u can never trust other drivers to share your opinion.
The car looks uncrashed in the seats even when it ahs already crashed! I love my s60, and am sure, I'll survive, no matter what happens to me on the road! Thanx Volvo, I'm foreva yours! This is my 6th car, and they all have been Volvo!
Well, maybe. But I'd be happy only to break the skull, rather that remain with no legs or hands. At least I'd stay alive. The skull can be easily mended in comparison to the back-bone)))
your probably right unless SAAB gets some seriously good models out seriously quick. Volvo on the other hand has a great line up, the new s80 is probably the most beautiful car i haver ever seen.
"SAAB ... been for the last like 20 yrs selling less and less cars"
Actually Saab had a top selling year a few years ago, maybe 2006 or 2007. Now the confidence in the company is extremely low, so sales figures are also extremely low. I think it's important to be accurate and not say things which are wrong, and that's why I commented.

@Lillie1986 Ive actually tested one s60r against our 250hp 9-5 aero wagon with automatic box...aero was better at 60-150 and 80-200. Both car were stock and volvo was manual.
dude all i wanted was to make sure I was correct. There are more than single speed tests. I am not like an expert on crash tests. I own a S60 and I was wondering how fast this was. So thanks for being a smart mouth you prick.
Mine's done 140,000 miles and apart from the clutch and alternator, is mechanically completely original. Still pulls to 140 mph and still 100% oil tight and very reliable. Built like a tank!
Incidently it had some lovin from my mechanic in the form of service, turbo flush, brakes stripped and cleaned and i refitted the old bosh MAF instead of the cheap arse one i bought off ebay. It seems happy again. Back to "bulb failure parking light". In addtion the top speed for for my model is quoted at 143mph. I know it will hit the 150 mark. about the same.
