Festivals usually only have 1 headline a day... they already took Nightwish as second headliner for sunday. Then the not-headliners but still big names come on the main-stage, and then they sort the rest in marquee 1 +2 and the Metaldome... Iced Earth was on the mainstage so it has been seen as a headliner, but not as the most inmportant one. Btw, what does it matter? If you want to see Iced Earth what's the difference between in the afternoon and at night?

he is a great rhythm guitarist. but idk bout best. there are some great rhythm guitarists out there. for one Mustaine from Megadeth. he is a great rhythm/lead guitarist.

couldnt agree more. im a huge mustaine fan, also jim martin from faith no more, even james hetfield (mustaine even has acknowledge that one lol)

but schaffer is one of the greats. there is no THE BEST. to many different styles.

In terms of technical ability, stamina required and accuracy at incredible speed, mustaine does not come close to Schaffer

in terms of technical ability. mustaine can shred. and he can easily play as fast, and being the lead singer not a back up its expected he wouldnt have as dead on of accuracy. sorry mustaine could play and sing stormrider or any song by IE. like in the song something that im not by deth, dave does a tapping solo while singing. really u should look at them as equals as i do. hell deth is back to playin rattlehead, as good or better than ever. just listen to the song poison was the cure. fast riff

I am talking about rhythm playing - Schaffers a well known "non-lead" type player. I listened to "Poison Was the Cure" and the riff is fast, yes, but its a straight rhythmed pedal note riff - he is pulling notes off onto an open string. Again, I'm not talking about as guitarists/performers perse, I'm coming at it as a riffer/rhythm player. Schaffers riffs, apart from demanding absoltuley astounding stamina, need very articulate picking accuracy. I don't really know why I am dicussing this...yomv

well thats the beauty we are all entitled to opinions. but all im saying there isnt a single song he couldnt play from IE, and prolly the other way around. very few rhythm guitarist reach that plateau. so again i say there isnt a best. its more about favorites.

yeah but the thing is when barlow hits his highs they sound alot richer and more intense, and he can also get really high i guess just not as often or as comfortably as owens but i just think barlows sound more badass
