YOUR A DUMB FAG!
@lmadigan1971 - And we also have an Opposition Leader that is well known for his lies. But even worse than that, we have muppets who don't see his lies (or who refuse to see his lies).
Imagine Brisbane's new Gateway Bridge, ready to be opened by Julia Gillard. It's been polished, painted and scrubbed by an army of workers till its 1 kilometre length is surgically clean. Except that Julia Gillard says we have a huge problem, the bridge is polluted - there's a human hair on the roadway. We'd laugh ourselves silly.
There are plenty of real pollution problems to worry about.
"carbon doxide" ??? try..di..oxide. di=2 in chemistry or anything for that matter, Abbott clearly doesn't know chemistry so why would we get climate advice from him??. What a moron.
@lmadigan1971 Per capita we pollute more than India or China, despite the fact that they produce most of the bullshit products we buy. Both the Alp and the Coalition care only about the economy. Do we work for it or is it there for us? Which is it? Tony Abbot and his coalition still want to take Australia down the American designed 'WorkChoices" path, with full time workers unable to live off the wage that they work for. It's a recipe for disaster, as the Americans are now discovering.
@lmadigan1971 - interest rates can certainly be based on international factors, but they are also based on domestic factors. I've come across quite a few interesting articles about Howard's time as Treasurer - some of which paint him as an idiot, some paint him in a better light. The truth is probably somewhere in between. As for Rudd and Gillard, just remember, there was the GFC, and Australia came through it in pretty good condition. At a time when spending was needed, they did it (pt 1)
@lmadigan1971 - (pt2). Even Abbott and Hockey are on record saying that they helped Australia through the GFC, but their argument has been to what extent. They have also admitted that they also would have had to spend money, but they refuse to detail how much and how they would have spent it. Ultimately, the spending of Rudd/Gillard wasn't as bad as the Liberals made out - money was wasted, but even Abbott admitted that was as a result of the speed that things had to be done.
@lmadigan1971 - (pt3). The thing about being in Opposition is that you can make a wide variety of claims, and never have to prove that any of them would have worked. This is especially so when Abbott and Hockey refuse to detail exactly what they would have done if they had been in Government. As it is, most economists have said that Rudd/Gillard did the right thing at the right time. We may not agree with that, but then, you and I weren't in the position where we had to make those decisions
He doesn't even believe in Global Warming! I don't think he even properly understands how the carbon emissions trading scheme works! If he gave us clear proof of a "punishment" that would create an incentive for energy companies to switch to greener sources, that would be wonderful. But, if he did have a "punishment" that could do this he would be telling the Australian public so he obviously doesn't have a clue!

Okay now that I got that out of my system feeling slightly better. Yes I am concerned with Work Place relations which is why I voted Labor in last election as it was almost impossible to find work as things were. I liked John Howard before that, believe it or not because of his stance on guns (i lost a family member to a gun), and I thought he was perfect PM right up until Iraq War that's when things got a little crazy imho. work choices was the last straw with the aussie poeple
I don't completely dislike Tony Abbott but it would be weird to read "Abbott Government" in the newspapers each day, phrases like "Howard Government" and "Rudd Government" have a certain ring to them, that make sense.
Honestly, I am a Liberal myself, but I have lots of issues with Abbott and the direction he is leading the party- on women's issues, climate change, and workplace relations. I think this so-called "plan" is a load of garbage and hasn't been thought out, and wouldn't work. Climate change needs REAL action, not half mumbled responses to Kerry O'Brien and Turnbull/Hockey have/had it right.
Well until they have a party that makes it legal to shoot the alcohol fueled human on sight, it doesn't really matter who you vote for. There's hardly a day goes by, when I don't encounter young kids yelling foul mouthed abuse at me, and their parents do nothing to discourage it...it almost makes me want to move to Singapore where you get hanged for drug trafficking. sorry mate it's been a bad day...perhaps I'll have something more constructive to say when i'm in a better mood.
yeah true, but police call an area "shady" what they are really saying is that they don't want to go in and deal with the problems there.
as for climate change, i am getting SO sick of half of the population not believing, the other half believing, it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for me to tell who is right and who is wrong, why can't scientists just come up with an irrefutable answer?
pumping more CO2 into the atmosphere probably won't bring back all the trees were chopping down quickly enough though
@Stephen19852009 the scientists have. I recommend you watch FOX News- it's a channel of people who imply Barrack Obama is not American, Climate Change is rubbish and Govt Healthcare will kill people. Repeating falsehoods drills them into people.
Certain interest groups (coal + oil lobby) and certain people as well pointing out irrelevant and discredited facts doesn't help, especially when the media keeps reporting the rantings of the out-of-touch far right like Nick Minchin. (I'm Liberal btw)
@Stephen19852009 you still can, Rudd appears to still be in charge of the Labor Party and Gillard denies leadership ambitions. I recall Minchin labeled climate change legislation 'a great big tax' and a 'left wing conspiracy'. However economic liberalism has proven its Achilles' Heel of late. The recent economy plunge in the US proves that regulation is required to keep markets going off the rails and on the right 'track'. Building in climate change is on this 'track'.
Climate change "science" has lost so much cred, I dont know why you would bother going on about it. Climate gate bull shit, Himalayan bull shit, scientists regarding climate gate under investigation. What will a tax do to reduce Co2 which is a plant food any way?
Recent temperature data emitted from the earth shows temperature being almost the same as 20 years ago
Years ago we had higher temperatures than today, check the data. Years ago we had higher levels of Co2 There is no prob with Co2
As you can see I have listened to scientific evidence, which is why I have asked these questions.
The science on both sides is quite different, the pro climate change scientists do how ever receive huge government grants. Before you go on about oil companies bribing climate skeptics, you should know Shell is pro climate change. Money is to be made from climate change at yours and my expense.
@toranacar hahahahah aw u conspiracy nuts are so cute, shell is "pro climate" because of pr, not because it cares, all scientists that are denyers either turn out 2 be misquoted, or arnt atcuall climatologists. if u actually did yah research from journals and other sources of science u would no the turth, but no, u just keep on denying the reality :)
Since youre at uni you probably should spell a little better.
I do know students at uni are being indoctrinated rather than educated.
So tell me whats the reality, whats the truth, because so far everything I have stated is fact is able to be read and confirmed by the UN climate council. They really have shot themselves in both feet. Tell me where I'm so wrong.
Tell me, how much Co2 is in the atmosphere, and how much should there be.
@toranacar so your sayin in science, where we are taught 2 question everythin and go for evidence, what we are actaully taught is 2 be indoctirnated... rite... and 2 answer your question, the current levels or co2 in the atmosphere is 380 ppm, the highest it has been in 65 THOUSAND years
So before 65thousand years ago we had 380ppm yet we had no man made industry with with man made Co2. Interesting. Perhaps something else is causing Co2?
@toranacar first of all i regret i made an error, it should be 65 million years, which marks the last place that ice core samples can be drilled, as before that the planet had no ice caps. Of course theres a funny detail about that stage... lets just say there were these funny mountain like objects that were pumpin out co2 and other gases by the proverbial gallon (volcanoes) :) as in alot, also known as the deccan traps
Forget the error; a couple of degrees increase in temperature is hardly worth peeing your pants over.
The Poles are not melting as was suggested, and admitted recently. Another error?
I agree about the volcanos, that makes sense, and the temperature increase or decrease is mostly caused by sun spot activity. Dont take my word for it look it up since you are interested.
The affect of Co2 on warming is actually present but it is so minute it is almost immeasurable. It is almost zero effect.
A few degrees increase in temperature could easily result in large scale climatic shifts mate. Not to mention the extinction of species' lower down the food chain- which will effect other parts of the food chain.
The point is that humans have technologies available TODAY that can lead us to a sustainable future..it's just that governments are reluctant because they are in the pockets of carbon emitting, trans-national coal companies
Sun spot activity can easily out do what Co2 can ever do, that is influence temp. The volcano in Iceland is causing a temp decrease which is more than what man/industry can do.
I like the idea of sustainability, it sounds great, but if you think about it at some point nothing is sustainable.
Advantage of Co2, temp increase = increase plant growth, Co2 is pumped in green houses to achieve this.
@toranacar If you want to learn sustainability I suggest you look up agenda 21 and John Holdren.
If you remember a hand full of months ago our government was not reluctant at all. Turnbull was all for it as well since it was in his personal interest Co 2 was going to be traded on the stock exchange as a commodity and Goldman Sachs was going to make big bucks out of it, these are the same people majorly involved in the financial crisis.
Turnbull was a Goldman Sachs boss. NZ PM who introduced the ETS is an ex investment banker which is in his interest as well. Notice this has become a hot potato for Rudd, he hasnt said a thing about Climate Change, and health is another distraction.
What I'm certain that is not sustainable forever is Westernised society in today's day and age. Two sources of renewable energy- solar and wind. Now, these two have said to have been tried and failed in the past. But we live in a country with climatic extremeties- scortching heat in the north and west, and strong coastal winds.
Live it up while we can mean while look for better technologies for power. Nuclear is clean and green but has potential risks which is tiny these days. Wind and solar is not an option at the moment for industry in particular, very expensive and not consistent.
I honestly believe this climate change is natural; you are worried for reasons not proven one way or another.
We had higher and similar to current Co2 levels with average temps in the past which suggests Co2 is not the cause for temp rise.
Look up agenda 21 and John Holdren seriously, the agenda behind climate change is to scare population for gov to take more control and create a world communist gov.
I know this sounds far fetched and conspiratorial but its true. If you tax carbon per tone which will increase in price by trading etc, everything becomes out of reach to most people. You have mass poverty and naturally become dependant on the gov this is where you become controlled.
@toranacar the evidence is that the quicker economies get on board funding methods to tackle climate change, and embracing technologies, and becoming the leader in the field of these technologies, the faster everyone else will fall behind and have to buy those techs from us and the richer WE all get. And the less "boat people" we have to deal with. The UN published a paper about it.
When used in conjuction, I (and many scientists of whom I'm familiar with) strongly believe that Australia, as a nation, could cover it's demand from the power grid.
If we have the techonology and the ability to be no less better off, what's stopping us from changing?
And this is drastic social change, not flimsy half hearted promises made by politicians whose main interest is styaing in power.
And we are talking about an average temperature rise, not day to day. Animals can clearly cope with seasonly changes, but if those changes became more extreme and more permanent, they would no doubtedly struggle. Humans too.

what's "carbon dockside"?

Okay now that I got that out of my system feeling slightly better. Yes I am concerned with Work Place relations which is why I voted Labor in last election as it was almost impossible to find work as things were. I liked John Howard before that, believe it or not because of his stance on guns (i lost a family member to a gun), and I thought he was perfect PM right up until Iraq War that's when things got a little crazy imho. work choices was the last straw with the aussie poeple
Stephen19852009 2 years ago
I don't completely dislike Tony Abbott but it would be weird to read "Abbott Government" in the newspapers each day, phrases like "Howard Government" and "Rudd Government" have a certain ring to them, that make sense.
Stephen19852009 2 years ago
Honestly, I am a Liberal myself, but I have lots of issues with Abbott and the direction he is leading the party- on women's issues, climate change, and workplace relations. I think this so-called "plan" is a load of garbage and hasn't been thought out, and wouldn't work. Climate change needs REAL action, not half mumbled responses to Kerry O'Brien and Turnbull/Hockey have/had it right.
kbbbb7 2 years ago
Well until they have a party that makes it legal to shoot the alcohol fueled human on sight, it doesn't really matter who you vote for. There's hardly a day goes by, when I don't encounter young kids yelling foul mouthed abuse at me, and their parents do nothing to discourage it...it almost makes me want to move to Singapore where you get hanged for drug trafficking. sorry mate it's been a bad day...perhaps I'll have something more constructive to say when i'm in a better mood.
Stephen19852009 2 years ago
Maybe you live in a bad area
Victorian105 2 years ago
yeah true, but police call an area "shady" what they are really saying is that they don't want to go in and deal with the problems there.
as for climate change, i am getting SO sick of half of the population not believing, the other half believing, it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for me to tell who is right and who is wrong, why can't scientists just come up with an irrefutable answer?
pumping more CO2 into the atmosphere probably won't bring back all the trees were chopping down quickly enough though
Stephen19852009 2 years ago
@Stephen19852009 the scientists have. I recommend you watch FOX News- it's a channel of people who imply Barrack Obama is not American, Climate Change is rubbish and Govt Healthcare will kill people. Repeating falsehoods drills them into people.
Certain interest groups (coal + oil lobby) and certain people as well pointing out irrelevant and discredited facts doesn't help, especially when the media keeps reporting the rantings of the out-of-touch far right like Nick Minchin. (I'm Liberal btw)
kbbbb7 1 year ago
@kbbbb7 oh that's a shame because I was still thinking voting for Kevin Rudd's Big New Tax on Everything.
Stephen19852009 1 year ago
@Stephen19852009 you still can, Rudd appears to still be in charge of the Labor Party and Gillard denies leadership ambitions. I recall Minchin labeled climate change legislation 'a great big tax' and a 'left wing conspiracy'. However economic liberalism has proven its Achilles' Heel of late. The recent economy plunge in the US proves that regulation is required to keep markets going off the rails and on the right 'track'. Building in climate change is on this 'track'.
kbbbb7 1 year ago
Climate change "science" has lost so much cred, I dont know why you would bother going on about it. Climate gate bull shit, Himalayan bull shit, scientists regarding climate gate under investigation. What will a tax do to reduce Co2 which is a plant food any way?
Recent temperature data emitted from the earth shows temperature being almost the same as 20 years ago
Years ago we had higher temperatures than today, check the data. Years ago we had higher levels of Co2 There is no prob with Co2
toranacar 2 years ago
@toranacar show me these reports
lordbyrne 1 year ago
Go and look for it You have the internet. Hint, Lord Monckton
Do some research
And finally ask your self what will a carbon tax achieve?
Why would you worry about a poofteenth of man made Co2?
Why did the scientists in England lie about the data?
Why does A Gore use more electricity than the average person?
Why should carbon be sold as a commodity to be profited off by bankers?
Why did the UK reduce Co2 by off loading their Alu smelter to India? Co2 in India is the same as Co2 in the UK
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar so basically u dont bother listening 2 actual scientists, and instead u look at the failure of govns instead of ne evidence... nice
lordbyrne 1 year ago
As you can see I have listened to scientific evidence, which is why I have asked these questions.
The science on both sides is quite different, the pro climate change scientists do how ever receive huge government grants. Before you go on about oil companies bribing climate skeptics, you should know Shell is pro climate change. Money is to be made from climate change at yours and my expense.
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar hahahahah aw u conspiracy nuts are so cute, shell is "pro climate" because of pr, not because it cares, all scientists that are denyers either turn out 2 be misquoted, or arnt atcuall climatologists. if u actually did yah research from journals and other sources of science u would no the turth, but no, u just keep on denying the reality :)
lordbyrne 1 year ago
I guess thats part of my point. PR.
So whats the truth and whats the reality?
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar since atm im currently in my 2nd year of both biological and environmental science at uni... pretty sure i have a well researched view
lordbyrne 1 year ago
Since youre at uni you probably should spell a little better.
I do know students at uni are being indoctrinated rather than educated.
So tell me whats the reality, whats the truth, because so far everything I have stated is fact is able to be read and confirmed by the UN climate council. They really have shot themselves in both feet. Tell me where I'm so wrong.
Tell me, how much Co2 is in the atmosphere, and how much should there be.
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar so your sayin in science, where we are taught 2 question everythin and go for evidence, what we are actaully taught is 2 be indoctirnated... rite... and 2 answer your question, the current levels or co2 in the atmosphere is 380 ppm, the highest it has been in 65 THOUSAND years
lordbyrne 1 year ago
So before 65thousand years ago we had 380ppm yet we had no man made industry with with man made Co2. Interesting. Perhaps something else is causing Co2?
What was the climate like back then?
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar first of all i regret i made an error, it should be 65 million years, which marks the last place that ice core samples can be drilled, as before that the planet had no ice caps. Of course theres a funny detail about that stage... lets just say there were these funny mountain like objects that were pumpin out co2 and other gases by the proverbial gallon (volcanoes) :) as in alot, also known as the deccan traps
lordbyrne 1 year ago
Forget the error; a couple of degrees increase in temperature is hardly worth peeing your pants over.
The Poles are not melting as was suggested, and admitted recently. Another error?
I agree about the volcanos, that makes sense, and the temperature increase or decrease is mostly caused by sun spot activity. Dont take my word for it look it up since you are interested.
The affect of Co2 on warming is actually present but it is so minute it is almost immeasurable. It is almost zero effect.
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar
TheManpile 1 year ago
Sun spot activity can easily out do what Co2 can ever do, that is influence temp. The volcano in Iceland is causing a temp decrease which is more than what man/industry can do.
I like the idea of sustainability, it sounds great, but if you think about it at some point nothing is sustainable.
Advantage of Co2, temp increase = increase plant growth, Co2 is pumped in green houses to achieve this.
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar If you want to learn sustainability I suggest you look up agenda 21 and John Holdren.
If you remember a hand full of months ago our government was not reluctant at all. Turnbull was all for it as well since it was in his personal interest Co 2 was going to be traded on the stock exchange as a commodity and Goldman Sachs was going to make big bucks out of it, these are the same people majorly involved in the financial crisis.
toranacar 1 year ago
Turnbull was a Goldman Sachs boss. NZ PM who introduced the ETS is an ex investment banker which is in his interest as well. Notice this has become a hot potato for Rudd, he hasnt said a thing about Climate Change, and health is another distraction.
toranacar 1 year ago
Species extinction is just another fact of life and death unless they have been poisoned or shot to extinction.
2 deg increases happens if you travel from Wollongong to Sydney, nothing extinct yet along the high way unless youre worried about road kill?
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar
What I'm certain that is not sustainable forever is Westernised society in today's day and age. Two sources of renewable energy- solar and wind. Now, these two have said to have been tried and failed in the past. But we live in a country with climatic extremeties- scortching heat in the north and west, and strong coastal winds.
TheManpile 1 year ago
Live it up while we can mean while look for better technologies for power. Nuclear is clean and green but has potential risks which is tiny these days. Wind and solar is not an option at the moment for industry in particular, very expensive and not consistent.
I honestly believe this climate change is natural; you are worried for reasons not proven one way or another.
toranacar 1 year ago
We had higher and similar to current Co2 levels with average temps in the past which suggests Co2 is not the cause for temp rise.
Look up agenda 21 and John Holdren seriously, the agenda behind climate change is to scare population for gov to take more control and create a world communist gov.
toranacar 1 year ago
I know this sounds far fetched and conspiratorial but its true. If you tax carbon per tone which will increase in price by trading etc, everything becomes out of reach to most people. You have mass poverty and naturally become dependant on the gov this is where you become controlled.
toranacar 1 year ago
Christ I've been through this before sick of explaining all the time. Just look up agenda 21 and John Holdren.
toranacar 1 year ago
Little off topic of climate change, search The Revolutionary Holocaust, more on topic search Dr. Tim Ball on Alex Jones.
Just watch it, see what you think, it may not make you flinch but see how you go.
toranacar 1 year ago
@toranacar the evidence is that the quicker economies get on board funding methods to tackle climate change, and embracing technologies, and becoming the leader in the field of these technologies, the faster everyone else will fall behind and have to buy those techs from us and the richer WE all get. And the less "boat people" we have to deal with. The UN published a paper about it.

@toranacar
When used in conjuction, I (and many scientists of whom I'm familiar with) strongly believe that Australia, as a nation, could cover it's demand from the power grid.
If we have the techonology and the ability to be no less better off, what's stopping us from changing?
TheManpile 1 year ago
@toranacar
Humans too.
TheManpile 1 year ago
@TheManpile
Seasonal* not seasongly.
