After that ONLY level Q and W maxing whichever you need more (Q for offense, W for Defense/Sustain)

Cloth + 5 Pots to start, buy Boots and build into Wriggles asap. Upgrade Boots (usually to mercs) and then start getting pieces of trinity, usually the hammer first for the slow/health or sheen for the dmg proc.

Mid-Late game get tanky with Warmogs.

Pretty much works with jungle and lane udyr. Obviously sometimes you must counter the other team (such as grabbing wits or fon)

asked this on the udyr commentary video too, but is spirit visage still a good item on udyr? or is it mainly good for a specific stance (I mean is it good, besides using turtle), because 10% more isn't that significant (from 18% to almost 20%)

in general mercs, philo, heart and wits end is the standard build on phoenix, but I feel like i lack dmg and tanking ability, though that's probably partly because i lack experience

and one last thing, lategame item on udyr: hextech gunblade, thoughts?

@elvenwoor From personal experience I find the spirit visage makes me tankier and mobile, taking the CD from 6 to 4.6s. At lvl 5 bear stance that gives you only 0.6s of not moving at +27%. I personally wouldn't recommend the hextech because not many of his skills scale well with AP/AD (apart from tiger, but I only ever switch to it lategame for the AS to go back to phoenix).

@noionxion i go for glacial shroud, more cooldown, more mana, and good armor (and builds out into one of the greatest tank items in my opinion)

but i'm mostly wondering about the 10% extra healing effect, if that makes it worth the buy

as for hextech,i wouldbuy it for the active and lifesteal/spellvamp, also ta beefier shield, it's not much but it could help, I haven't tested it because i never get there in a game, and vs bots is kinda pointless :p

@elvenwoor Core items are things I aim for but as the game progress' you build to counter the enemy team, only time I'd build into a frozen heart is as a counter to a starks ferver/heavy ad team. I find that as you move to late game udyr no longer has mana issues (due to the reduction in mana per lvl) and for me at least I wouldn't build the shroud for the mana for that reason - the philo stone covers my needs, if not a mana pot.

@noionxion frozen heart is in general good, for the cooldown, udyr is a tank, so the armor makes you able to tank turrets easily (certainly along with turtle)

i build philo too (phoenix jungle build standard), but after the gold items boots and wit's end, it's indeed situational, my main problem is i feel that apart from my 1 second stun, i don't really do much when ganking, but i haven't played him much lately, so I think i just need more practice :)

btw, when do you turn philo in shurelya?

@elvenwoor To that's the downside of Udyr, I just find myself in team fights bear slapping people if not on phoenix. Again, situational with the philo upgrade, if I can get kited by their team alot of if they've got movement speed on them, like ashe/sivir/vayne making it earlier helps out with the chasing. Great thing about Udyr is if not ganking he can invade like hell and make short work of the enemy jungle. Having a taric with a ranged stun/panth solo top makes ganking all the easier.

To me, spirit visage is just want udyr wants - makes up for his low MR, some health bonus and nice CDR for like 2k gold is it?

@elvenwoor Only reason you could not be as dps'y/tanky is because you might be falling behind in lvls/experience. I know in this video he suggets a 21/9/0 mastery page but from personal preference I like the 13/9/something he suggested in a team fight video. Getting the armour pen and movement speed then rest into defence. All personal prefernce though tbh.

When using tiger to jungle i suggest you to preload tiger and then switch to turtle and attack the monsters.This allows you to spellvamp the entire tiger-proc without losing damage or the shield.

Stonewall, just got Udyr. I like him, but I'm having trouble continuously locking people up without sacrificing damage output. Any items you'd recommend so I can actually do constant damage rather than get kited all day?

@ShadowIncarnate6 that's udyr's weakness. You can't help that. The best you can do is move-attack and try to get in front of them or in a way so they are forced to walk past you (in a gank). Later in the game - Merc/Shurelya's work out best.

@yazorstorm He is level 30, yes. Don't bother buying anymore runes. They are expensive enough as it is and you really want to focus on getting enough IP for the tier 3 runes instead.

And investment of 5k IP should get you 6 Tier 3 runes in everything + some extra. Try to go for that.

More importantly, expand your roster. Learn other junglers as well. Udyr is very weak in the ganking department when compared to others so try to buy a ganking jungler soon.

@yazorstorm For the actual jungling as Udyr you should take Cloth armor+5 health potions. This will get you through your jungle without a hitch. Wolf-Blue-Wraith-Wolf-Red-Gank at lvl 4.

Try a frozen mallet. It gives you more defense and slows them with each attack. Try to stun and reposition along their perceived escape route. Smite flash is great but smite exhaust works just as well. That'll help I hope.

For all those asking, while I myself am not a "pro", I do consider my game knowledge to be close to that of one, and vamp sceptre tiger udyr is weird but has its place. Phoenix Udyr is much safer and more sustainable jungler than tiger, but vamp sceptre bandaids that at the cost of a good early game item build(unless fed, won't get wriggles early). Instead the build is counting on the game going late, where that farm helps tiger udyr outshine phoenix at the end.its a pass

@norco1606 U should try to stay in level range of bot and still put pressure on the lanes, its ofc easier on fast junglers. Some exeptions are alistar or shaco, they try to win their teams lanes by ganking them all the time, so their team gets "fed" on minions. Atleast that works for me :D

Man Jungling: You can pick up any stances you want but you cannot use them until you have a successful gank(opponent killed/forced to use a summoner spell) or you kill an enemy. Extra credit if you never use a stance through the whole game.

Turtle Jungling: Skill order is WXW(X can be anything).

Bear Jungling: Skill order is EWE.

I have a TON of trouble ganking with udyr, I can never get a successful gank. I don't die, but I don't get kills either. The only option is when theyve pushed our tower really hard. I have a MUCH easier time ganking with Lee Sin and rarely fail ganks. Any tips?

Stonewall, damage wise I feel that early game tiger does more allowing you to secure early ganks more then Phoneix does, allowing you to snowball harder or allowing your lane to snowball. Thoughts?

@CoconutDonutzz in better. higher level games - ganks aren't going to work a vast majority of the time. Phoenix deals more damage than tiger if it gets the 3 procs on the enemy (and can deal damage during the chase as well). Phoenix is just all around more useful - with tiger you're just hoping you get a gank in.
