I played oboe in high school (no where near this quality of playing) and I love this piece of music. I am not an expert on style etc. I just know that hearing this piece played by this gentleman moves me.
As a professional American oboist, trained in the 1960's-70's when there were very distinct national playing styles, I am very interested to note how the playing style demonstrated in this performance could easily have been recorded in the USA, Europe, or Australia as easily as Japan. I would love to know who the oboe soloist is and the orchestra,,,it appears to be a conservatory. I admire the tone quality, perfect intonation, and baroque performance practice demonstrated here. Bravissimi.
Totally beautiful playing! :)
