As i firefighter, and someone who has experienced a head on collision. I can say that hindsight is in fact, 20-20.

Something like that happens so fast there is no time to react.

Nor is there ANY control of either vehicle in a head on collision.

@krazydude93 well it had happen to me twice. i'm a bus driver too and i have drivers cutting me off all the time but only two have hit my bus. like you said, it hard to know what in a split of a second but our instructors have told us to stay straight and hit the car cutting you off because if you kill someone trying to prevent those type of accidents you're the one to blame. would it be fair for someone to lose a family member just because other idiot ran in front of the bus?

Not always though can you think when something like that happens.

In the case of this accident, having been hit head on, anything after the initial impact would have been the fault of the driver who crossed the line. If a pedestrian had gotten hit, it would not have been the bus operators fault.

Sometimes you cant control a vehicle after being hit head on because the steering can break. If that happens and someone is killed, would they blame the operator for that too?

@krazydude93 i don't think they'll blame you for a broken steering because that would be a mechanical failure, but this guy lost control of the bus trying to prevent the accident. a small car like that can't make a bus lose control the way it did. it was the operator who decided to steer away from the car and as a result he lost control of the bus ending up on the curb and risking other people's lives.

It was the impact of the car that caused it to veer even harder to the right.

And i dont care what ANYBODY says. It's the natural reaction to try and avoid any accident when you're driving down the road. If you can see it coming, you're going to try to avoid it.

The exception to that is when you cant see it coming.
