Got two of them and they are both defective. Neither came with the insulating sticker. One simply gets hot and is not detected. The other is detected and the driver is installed, but the application can't see it. I have tried on several computers and switched components between the two chips. They simply don't work. The one that actually detects appears in Device Manager as "Flatmii - No EEPROM (0x8613)"

- Hi ChellSYork - I've got exactly the same problem. How did you resolve? - fierek1
The retailer sent me some files to flash the EEPROM, so one of them was repaired. He never sent me information to RMA the other. I'll try to dig up what he gave me and contact you so you might be able to fix yours.
I suppose if you use the power from the wii's USB, you wouldn't have to worry about power if you connected it to a non-powered USB hub on your computer
so how do you open the stupid 4 pin holder? No explanation given, it's incredibly small, don't want to break it.

But actually... after a little bit of thinking... it could get the energy from the PC USB, too...
Well... no Idea... This way the connector has his place ^^
