Gone With The Wind is the biggest movie of all time! Thanks for saying that George. Avatar and Titanic are not, but the media tries to sell new movies with that hype. That is marketing hype.
i don't think that it was a case of Star wars starting "blockbuster" films
what i would say is that since then films get hyped a lot more. also before SW there was probably lot less film merchandise with every flm. Well that changed since star wars.
@mrai2004 I think what makes the difference is that SW was the first great movie that created a cult following (to my knowledge at least). Star Wars was a phenomenom. I mean, nowadays we even have the "church of the Jedi"as an aknowledged religious oranization. Kind of scary if you consider that essentially it is nothing but a bunch of cosplayers. Ironically, Lucas is also, in part, responsible for the decline of said following.
hi their guys how you doing? LONG TIME NO SEE.@@ try ROCK YOUR PARTY. U TUBE FRANK39144 AND OUR BLACK DOG PRODUCTIONS. I PROMISE IT WILL BE BEST AND MOST STIMULATING VISUALS THEIR IS ON THE ROCK.
Very popular movies have always existed since movies have, but the actual term itself, "Blockbuster" wasn't coined until Jaws, wasn't it? Or was it Goldfinger?
The term "blockbuster" film has been around for decades. There have been so many blockbusters...why would you call Star Wars the first "blockbuster" or the inventor.
When will someone do a little short biography (made for TV/ DVD/ 4-D?) of George? There could be some interesting bits from his childhood, or an actor portraying George when he destroyed his souped-up race car would really show how tough and fearless George can be.
@GhostSnake actually the first 15 minute movie was a giant sci fi blockbuster based on high (for the time) technology !!! George Melies is the father of cinema and sci fi fantasy !
there well be more movies in like 20plus years i think
