  • Love the tutorial, and love the voice, thank you!

  • @WeRsNs Thank you!

  • Thank you for this - it's great to find a tutorial that I understand and uses easy 'language' in the explanations. It has helped me understand where I went wrong in my first book and now I can correct the template and move forward with the rest. Now to find your book cover tutorial.

  • @jameslsjay Thank you so much! That's why I put these episodes together. I'm glad they are easy to understand. Good luck on your projects.

  • Nicky, great tutorial ! I wish I had seen some of this before I started my book.

So far only three, but all great. I don't know what drives you to make these but they are a fantastic help.

    thanks,

    Denis (Singapore)

  • @hermanbroodnodig Thanks! The fact that you learned something and I was able to help that is what drives me. Thanks for watching!

  • I have decided to change my trim size after formatting the whole book. Are there Adobe shortcuts to not have to resize every text box on every page? All textboxes are aligned to margins

  • @FIRSTconcentrate This is a tough one. I haven't had lots of opportunities to reformat a project after it was near complete so I'm not aware of any shortcuts. I'll look into this for you and if anyone else out there has experience, please leave a comment to help out!

  • This is great--clean, professional, and clear! Thank you very much! Question: What if I want to add specific titles to header each differentiated by chapter? I'm assuming it has something to do with another Master page? Thank you in advance!! :)

  • @musicstud07 Thanks and yes, you would set up another master page with your title information. Just remember that master pages work well for text that will appear the same on the pages you set. This is why they work well for page numbers and other footer text. It doesn't change from page to page except for the page number.

  • I am undergoing a physical oxymoron by playing CoD and listening to this. As stereotypically CoD players are not creative. YEAHHHHHH

  • @RedofYellow I am a CoD fan as well! I think creative types can appreciate a lot of things. Speaking of an oxymoron, I'm a graphic designer and can hand code a website at the same time. There are exceptions! :)

  • I love you.

  • Wow! Great Tutorial.. Now I Understand how to do the chapter title and book pages. How about one on the T.O.C. and Headers & Footers.. :)

  • OH MY GOD! Thank you so much for this informative tutorial, but uhh, why am I not able to page it once, it always starts with an a then continue with 3= ? yeh with =! so on and so forth. :| Please reply.. Thank you!

  • This is the greatest tutorial on designing a book using inDesign! Million thanks to you! I've been looking for this and yours did help me A LOT! I'm in my way of designing my new book, thanks to you!

  • @thetruthshallremain Thanks a million!

  • @thetruthshallremain Thanks for watching! I'm super happy this video helped you out with your project.

  • Great tutorial. Is there anyway to make sure that the *placement* of each chapter title is the same on every chapter title page as well?

  • @meekohi This can be tricky to set up because each chapter title will vary. While I'm sure there are numerous ways to go about this, I would set your first chapter text, copy it, then instead of just pasting into the next chapter page, right click and select "paste in place". You can also find that option in the "Edit" menu. This puts a copy of the object's content and placement into the new page. A great way to ensure your chapters are always in the same place on their pages.

  • thank you very much was really helpful. Keep going

  • a quick question, when i print my book i would like to fold single a4 duble side printed pages for binding, but when you fold a page in half page 1 is what i would like page 4 to be, page 2 and 3 are in order as they are the internal side of the folded paper, but when i set pages from 1-4 and print it in this order will it work and will indesign apply this printing pattern automatically or would i have to change the page order manually when planning the layout?

  • You Rock!!! :D

  • @deiology Thanks! You rock too! Thanks for watching.

  • Hey, huge thanks to you, as stated above it's quite a breath of fresh air to see actual knowledge being shared with others. I have just one question, would you recommend this program for someone who is making Children's books ages 3-5. As in a paragraph or two a page with most room for illustrations. Once again thanks a lot for being truly helpful, cheers!

  • @kingcollie Thanks so much. I would definitely use InDesign for a children's book. You can have fun laying out your text and pages. It's definitely the program to use for your project. Have fun!

  • @designlikeapro Thank you very much once again for your advice. I have started to use it and it is quite fun setting it up once you know how to use it (thanks to you). Best to you and yours.

  • how come ur measurements are in inches and not in picas?

  • we need more people like you on YT Thanks a TON!!!

  • @copetedavid Thanks so much. That means a great deal to me :) and I agree that YouTube needs quality content over some of the other "popular" content regularly uploaded.

  • (how) can you add a word-document into indesign?

  • Excellent tutorial, thank you.

  • Thanks, was helpful

  • Do you have PC?

  • @alhex123 Yes, but I can also use a Mac if needed.

  • I would have a question ... maybe you can cover it in one of your tutorials ... if my magazine is stapled in the middle .. logically my page nr.1 is on the left of the indesign page and my last page say 30 should be on the right .. nr2 with 29 and so one .. is there an automatic way of doing that? or do you have some hints depending on how the book or magazine will be put together?! thank you

  • Excuse me, I need help ASAP from anybody.

What is the quickest way to edit a layout? I have set up a perfect layout with picture slots(for a year book) and name slots in the master section but when I go to my pages, I am not able to edit the master templates. Can someone help me find an easier way to have a set template that I can change, please? (tried ctrl+c but it doesn't go to the correct positions)

  • I appreciate this info, it is all well and good, but how exactly did you get to that point? I set up document but it does not appear after "ok"!

  • how can i put a automatic chaptertitle in all the right pages?

  • thanks for the video, how would set up a file correctly to go to a printer

  • If I already have a maste page applied (for my page design) how can I make a master page with page numbers?

  • @peacefellowlindsey You can create multiple master pages in the same way you add additional pages.

  • "how to put or start page numbering on page 5 like "page 1" appearing on page 5 instead of seeing "page 5"?

  • @bluelitetube go to your "pages" window, then right click on the page you want to be number 1, select "numbering and section options" from the menu that shows, and instead of "automatic page numbering" select the "star page numbering at:" option

  • @bluelitetube duh... since nothing is obvious, you have to input the number u want the numbering to begin with in the blank space

  • I never thought I would ever say this in my life EVER but I'm having trouble deciding which I like more InDesign or Photoshop??

  • thank you! but how to import my ".doc" file in there?

I wrote my text in a word document...is it possible to bring it up there?

  • @AndyAcoustic you can import a word document (.doc or even .docx with the newer versions of ID) by using the command ctrl+d (or File - Place), it doesnt just work for images you see, it places textual content as well :D

  • Making sure my chapter says nunnegan

  • Good Tutorial!!!!!!
