I don't believe so. The closest possible catastrophe won't be until 2880. even then, the chances of that hitting us .33%. I suppose if u really think about it, that's an extremely high chance, 1/300...but if that were to happen, we wouldnt be able to send bruce willis to go blow it up lol. But yeah, a large asteroid will hit us inevitably, given time. 65 million years ago it wiped out the dinosaurs, and it WILL happen again. roughly every 100 million years we get hit with something that size.

If you want to know more about it, i believe my astronomy 150 professor told me it was Asteroid 1950 DA. It's clearly out of our life time, but its kind of scary to know human life could be wiped out just like that. We wouldn't be able to blow it up because many smaller particles would fly into our atmosphere making it just as bad...we'd have to knock it off course many years away from us. Basically, go get drunk and throw a party if we know its coming.
