This is the pioneering of chiptune. Not "Nintendocore". Legions is correct. 8-bit is a great style in my opinion. But calling this anymore than chiptune or 8-bit electronica is a mistake.

Whenever I hear the term "Nintendocore" I think of bands like Horse the Band.

When I hear "chiptune" or "8-bit" I think of this.

Maybe Nintendo, but not Nintendo-core. That would imply it had "hardcore" within it, not of the european phrasing either, considering Europeans don't really care what it's labelled. Nintendocore was a joke made up for like... Horse the Band. But this is 8-bit Electronica.

@LegionsAreHere It's true! It's not a real description of a genre, or even a sub genre. If it was, it would still be inaccurate because these are not Nintendo sounds.

@OSTBros Yeah, I wasn't aware of that until shortly after I posted that comment. My opinion still stands, though. Nintendocore is still an inappropriate name. Nintendocore implies it's a mix of chiptune and hardcore music. It's not just nintendo sounds. Apparently since Horse the band had opened people to this subgenre (as more of a joke than anything), several bands have taken on that name to describe their own sound. But, you know, that's kind of the story for most sub-genres.
