  • How can we resolve this problem?

  • @BrothersOnPC It's not really a problem, more a caracteristic. If you're not playing, the fan stays quiet. Plus, the BIOS has been updated since, reducing fan noise in general.

  • Biggest reason i want this laptop is to play guildwars 2 xD (Personally i love it)

  • yo guys, i just got mine and so far I don't have any problem with the fan noise. Maybe, it's bcause I've a bit of a hearing problem or just so into the games. So far, no prob though.

  • @freaker126 could you make a video? This notebook would be the best one for me, at the moment, but in this video it produces too much noise.

  • A05 BIOS update!

  • @SequeStyle In what BIOS update change for the noise from fan?

  • @AussieMelbourneAUS go check out aw's official update page.

  • In Flames <3

  • lol this is bullshit i bought this laptop like yesterday and i got NO problem running these games

  • i have the same problem would cleaning out the fans help cuz im afraid ill fuck up the motherboard if i do

  • @mccaffrey93 i wouldnt do it lol

  • so is the fan as loud as is sounds at full volume while watching the video, or is like 70% volume the actual noise level

  • I agree a computer could play games better but a console is cheaper

  • Solution: Earphones.

  • I suggest you guys check out the up and coming laptop by razor. The Razor Blade. You'll be drooling...

  • How long can you play before it gets hot? No pint with that fan noise if the computer gets hot after about 45minutes.

  • Heard that ssd can solve the problems. Is it true?

  • @xNzzyz I would say no. The fan noise is cooling of the cpu and gpu, not the hdd. But I use a g35 headset. It completely blocks out the fan noise when in a game.

  • My alienware fan cover yours :D (while listening the video).

  • If you want mobile gaming power, this is the best you can get. Sure, there are laptops a lot thinner and lighter out there with the same amount of computing power, but they are not meant to be used as a game rig. Take Acer and Toshiba; they sound like a jet engine once you start gaming on them and even then they fail after a couple of minutes of gaming because they run too hot. That is why alienwares are relatively heavy; heatsinks, larger fans etc.

  • I just want a laptop with an Alien Head as the power button.. No other laptop has it!

  • Try playing battlefield 3 now, my xps 17 basically melts and moans like a loud hooker (same gpu).

  • can you tell me if using an I5 instead of an I7 will be much less loud than this,? tks

  • @Andirwan mine is a m14x with i5, its the same loud noise...

  • @sumx88 I see, tks^^

  • alienware = win.

  • As long as there is a good fan in the computer ill be happy

  • do you have 2 fans in your laptop? or just one on the left grill? my right grill doesnt seem to have a fan :( only the left grill has a fan in my one

  • when watching a 720p movie, did it make the same noise? thanks..

  • 2:33 epic nade

  • do you know if this i gd for video editing

  • I was wondering what this laptop was made from composite material or metal (aluminium)

  • so can the m14x basically play any game?

  • well, nobody plays without gamesound :>

  • Should I buy a laptop with the core i7 2630m with hd 6570m or A laptop with core i5 2410m with gt 555m graphics? which will have better performance in games?

  • this thing could blast 24/7 friday for all i care but will it be able to run bf3 at MAXIMUM settings???

  • If u stay on facebook for 2hour will it overheat and make noise?

  • i have m14x also and i was playing borderlands max graphics and the fan noise was really really loud!! and laptop was also hot is that bad?

  • best fricken computer and game in the world

  • i want one alienwareee!!!! u.u

  • Doesnt sound that much louder than my late 2009 Macbook Pro lol

  • I find it sad that this computer runs bad company 2 better than my ps3 does

  • @flyboyofoctober i dont, console hardware is literally years behind pc hardware

  • @flyboyofoctober its because battlefield is made maily for pc

  • Would this be the perfect laptop to play Battlefield 3 on? Please respond, I am trying to find a good laptop to play BF3 at 60 fps on at least high settings.

  • They should replace the useless optical drive for better cooling next time around. Even the bigger brothers are noisy as well.

  • ;;OTL my fujitsu T5010 tablet's fan even after replacing is so loud i couldn't hear the fan in this vid...

  • Thank you, i was concerned about the fan noise after a few bad reviews. This has set my mind straight, as it is no louder than a xbox fan. I t

  • in flames <3

  • lol 2 alienwares right next to eachother rich enough?

  • the speakers sound really nice. Can't wait for my m14x. should be here next week. Have you tried using a laptop cooler like the notepal u2?

  • Thanks a lot, this video was exactly what i wanted to see! (well, hear... :))

  • does the laptop get real hot?

  • i was wondering would an i5 core processor work for games because the i7 core processor is to much

  • @kay619rey Yes, you can go with the i5 for gaming, no problem at all.

  • @SuperOctet ty

  • @SuperOctet hey i was wondering what your average fps with the 555M is on BFBC2?

  • @kay619rey buy an amd phenom II x4 3.2ghz. Its as strong as 17 and much cheaper

  • @kay619rey core i7 only can perform at its peak at around 16gig ram.

if your laptop is 8gig ram, then core i7 will act like a core i5. or i heard around 2-5% increase in performance.

so core i5 should be perfect.

  • Heck, I use a 2006 white Macbook with 512 megs of RAM, and that thing heated up while buffering this video lol.

  • @IndianaKatarn yeah me too! i am thinking of selling my macbook and getting this laptop, and for the same price!!

  • sounds like a vacuum cleaner

  • I'm getting one with all Max specs is $1,976

  • alienware m14x vs asus g53sw-a1 ???

  • im getting one tonight :D

  • fps?

  • I'm getting my m14x next month. Hope that 1499.99 offer is still there.

  • @FilipinoXBaba

I'm trying to get one with an i7 and the grand total is 1,390

  • Headset + M14x = "Oh yeah baby"

Headset + a "quiter" laptop = "WTF is this laggy shit!"

  • @weilwen Headset + MyCrappyLaptop = WTF IS THIS FUCKING NOISY PIECE OF CRAP

  • I will be wearing a headset when playing games anyways so its no problem for me.

  • dear god that is loud.

  • I was playing at 1600x900

  • what resolution you playing at?

  • im getting my m14x in a week or two :33

  • sounds like a fucking vacum cleaner to me for as pc to be :(((

why culdont they have to fans that were on lower rpm one fore the cpu and one for the gpu.

    lower rpm = quieter :)))

  • Sounds like an xbox to me. Not bad.

  • is this on high settings? Do u think this will handle b3?

  • i think the graphics are worth the fan noise

  • @Roflofl129 i absolutely agree and if it is annoying you can buy a decent gaming headset such as creative fatal1ty causing no sound issues (unless you have the volume too high and get titanous but really that shouldnt happen)

  • @Roflofl129 Exactly, i dont mind at all cuz as a laptop users, the right thing to do its to get a nice pair of headphones and Voila!

  • @TheRevReviews think of graphics memory as ram more memory you can run faster and more

  • i'm stil thinking about this one or the asus G53w or something like that this one is indeed Noisy i know you can use a headset but stil (( if heard saying that there will be a Patchs out that fixes the Noise))

  • Really loud PC.

  • the alienware is fine. but you should buy a desktop. the Origin Chronos (search on google) is better than this :) only $971.00

  • i actually kinda like the fan noise, it reminds me of my roller coaster tycoon 2 days and it gives of a nice mood in the room... i dont know y but it does :D

  • im buying one of these pc's are you running max settings on this game

  • I think some got this video wrong :

I am NOT complaining in ANY way about the fan noise; I just made a video for the early buyers on NBR Forums because some of them were concerned about it.

I don't mind the noise, it's easily covered by ingame sounds and the M14x does a really great job at keeping cool temps.

  • any gaming laptop you find will have this fan noise or even harder its ment to cool the system and it does perfectly so nothing to complain about a fine laptop has a realy nice look to it too 5/5

  • @SuperOctet i have one question; will it annoy other students? taking this one for college. otherwise ill have to buy a xps 15

  • @kerolification I'll bring mine to school and I don't think it could annoy anyone. If you use the Power Saver battery plan, the fan won't kick in.

I would say that it's okay to bring it to school.

  • @kerolification If you start playing games at school when other students having exams it would be a little annoying for your neighbours. But if you are just browsing the web, using MS Office or something you will not hear it.

  • @kerolification Honestly if it annoys other students, tell them to screw off. They're just jealous of your amazing laptop.

  • Would you like the fans to be quiet? Good...while were at it we can let the pc overheat too...sounds good.

  • It sounds like fans cheering at a game.

  • Is there a difference between a 1.5 gb card or 3gb graphis card for m14x?

  • @TheRevReviews

    price and thats about it.

the performance gain is minimal if not non existent.

  • buy some turtle beaches dude... problem solved

  • i dont mind that noise, it just means the fans going at full whack

  • Comment removed

  • i would just get a cooling staition but buy a flat filter from like a comvenience story or vacum store so you get cooled but not get dust all throughtout your laptop. did it for mine and it helped the fan slow down and make less noise cause it has a temp detecter that tells it how fast or slow to spin.

  • lol yeah bro that really sux, how do i play hardcore shoot-em-ups in dead silence now? xDDD the sound quality on these things is amazing im on mine right now =)

  • Wt temps u getting on the cpu I was getting 91c for the cpu I feel like the processor is gonna melt

  • @lightningwar123 Yeah I'm having the same problem of CPU overheating with BFBC2.

  • Wear a headset...=S

  • lol try to clean the fans

  • It's a HUMAN Laptop, not really 'ALIENWARE.'

You got what you paid for, don't complain. Or else return it.

  • lol idc my macbook is trash and i have to use smc fan control to keep fan on high or it overheats about 6000 rpm actually

  • @Dewality : it was flat on my desk

  • In this video did you have the laptop flat on a surface or did you have it so the back was propped up?

  • DONT WORRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the internal components are not about to melt thay are ideal for a laptop

dell is releasing a bios update to fix this and it will be soon

the surface so dont get super hot also so dont worry thay are cool and conferable

  • Wow, I never used Matchmaking on BC2 PC before much less knew that it existed.

  • so does this graphics card has direct 11x

  • I don't really find it loud, but most if not all laptops sound like that while running a graphic-intense game. Remember... you'll be hearing explosions and gunfire, so a little fan noise is nothing ;)

  • Specs added in the video description. I do NOT have an SSD installed.

The system in the video isn't overclocked, but I selected "High Performance" profile.

  • @SuperOctet Overclock the GPU its amazing what it can do

  • @VjRocker007 lol man the thing is I pretend it to use it in stealh mode, not the alienware stealh mode but the low noise so I don't get caught playing :d

  • the fan is ok i think because you use too much grpahic property i always set it up to high performance what about you?

  • Doesn't sound much louder than my macbook pro.

Did you get the SSD or the regular HDD? That could effect how often the fans spin up.

  • wth that was so loud i was planning on buying it :(

  • @danex360 u do know that if your wearing headphones or using your speakers you wouldn't be able to hear the fans kick in or atleast barely hear them

  • @danex360 Dell said theyre going to release a bios update to fix the loud fan issue

  • it sounds like a turbo jet man~

  • felbus : The fan isn't THAT loud at when you're not gaming. It's quiet but still A LITTLE audible

Shadowx209 : I didn't have time to play 2 hours straight yet, sorry

  • @SuperOctet wat is ur specs???

  • i am asking whether the fan noise is so loud in normal use as it is in his gaming vid..

  • hi, thanks for the vid, apologies if this is bad french: la bruit du ventilateur, ca commence seulement pendant Le gaming ou tu l'entends pendant l'utilisation quotidien? cheers

  • can you play 2 hours straight without problems?

  • good for republica de Chile!! :p

  • WTF! thats loud!

  • The audio player is Microsoft Zune.

Bon c'est bruyant mais le jeu couvre quand même un peu le tout, néanmoins c'est bizarre que ça ventile avant de chauffer.

  • Damn I play games in class :(

  • hi, which audio player is that called, name? Winamp is not good anymore. Thanks
