@aaronibarra400 mesh over the top of the tank, but clamped down very tightly, maybe a heavier hood, or so they don't feel the need to escape, get one of those crab oases. They'll help cut down the temptation to go to the top for air.
Hey ! What are the things in the corner.?? With the bubbles? I want to imprrove my 10 gallon tank so i can maintaian my fish, please answer ASAP.! Thanks !
what fish do you reccomend for a beggining aquarist? and also wich and how many can go into a 10 gallon fish tank? i don't want to have only one type i want a variety of fish in the tank. thanks for yur help!
@kmscutie132 A good start point is to make through research before you purchase any fish. First, buy aquarium, filter, light, etc. before any fish. Second, cycle the aquarium for about 3 weeks before you add any fish. Danios are good fish to begin with; they are hardy fish. Find community fish get along with others.
@kmscutie132 You can start out with fancy guppys they are good starter fish or you can just have a betta in the tank but it has to stay alone besides the females the females can live in a group of three or more :)
That u/filter of yours -true-is looking quite nice but it might be too noisy for fish: make them stressed and either aggressive or shy in the future- big fish like betta for sure.
@tvshowuploader3 Undergravel filtering is an effective technique that's been around for 4 decades. You should do your own research on the subject matter.
Briefly, the bottom of the tank is raised 1/2" by interconnected plastic crates, gravel sits on top of the crate. Uplift tubes pumps water to surface while dirty water gets sucked in through gravel. Microorganisms inhabiting gravel degrade harmful substances to less harmful ones as the dirty water flows slowly through gravel. The price is $10
@seanjr55 They sure can work with powerheads too. However, powerheads would have create strong currents in a ten gallon aquarium. So far, my aquarium is still going well with the mentioned setup. I wouldn't change anything so far from what I have. Thanks for your question.
My problem with the crab resumes. I drop a Hikari sinking wafer for the crab, then danios swarm to pellet and gorge themselves with it. Now I have extremely obese Danios. The crab don't mind the pellet so much, as he knows he can get a fresh catch at night. My roommate witnessed another zebra danio in his claw in the morning, and as he flicked the switch on the crab let go of the danio.
Upon a German friend's suggestion, in which he said the red cherry shrimp is popular back at his home, I bought some red cherry shrimp. I found out amano shrimps cannot keep up with hair algae, so hopefully these little guys will compliment cleaning tasks.
The crab, Houdini, managed to catch a gold danio. He devoured on the poor fishy from head on. I began to consider getting rid of him by returning him to a LFS. I purchased a lloydiella for background to contrast my formerly purchased background plant hornowort.
Had minor green algae problem. Limited the light for few days, and now it's more manageable. Had blue/green algae growing on gravel, gravel vacuumed and that took care of the blue/green algae. I yet have to rid anubias nana leaves from brown algae with some more frequent water changes.

@ustadsami the red claw needs access to land or else they will constantly try to escape and will eventually drown.

Update: A zebra danio and an amano shrimp vanished without any corpse left behind. They probably have become crab meal.
Each shrimp and the crab has molted once. Plants are growing strong.
Got rid of background, and replaced it with a moss wall within a mesh.
