  • To everyone who is shipping out soon. MP OSUT is one of the longest and hardest training. It will be a long time til you'll get to see your family. It will be mentally difficult. Just message me if you have any questions. I will gladly answer.

  • I just recently enlisted into the army. i am a female and my mos is a military police officer. I am really nervous though about all the training. i dont leave till February, any advice or self experience anyone can tell me will be helpful. :)

  • 7weeks

  • @Loweyes34 what if someone is a split option, they already completed BCT last year and this year are going back to MP AIT. How long is AIT if it has been split?

  • if you become and mp can your family live with you on base ?

  • Can you be an MP if your a 4"11 girl?

  • @smildonfatalis1 I believe the height requirement is 5'2" You may want to check with a recruiter, they will know for sure and give you the information if there is a waiver possible for that too. Good Luck!

  • @rjjt81 Alright thank you for the considerate response.

Ive done research and it said the minimum height requirement for the Army was 58 Inches (4"10)

  • ship 2011/05/03 to ft leonard wood for MP OSUT!

    HOOAH!!!

  • ship 20110301 to leonard wood for mp osut!

  • fort lee hooah!

  • 20110202

  • from what ive been told, and correct me if i'm wrong... but if your a military police men and try to get a job at a civilian department, they won't hire you first, or at all in some cases because of the "bad habits" they picked up in the military. Ive gone to school for law enforcement, and was told this from both ex military and ex police officers including a chief of police. Is military policing that much different from civilian? Uniform code of justice vs. constituition?

  • I leave 20110223

  • Comment removed

  • @barrettser I was spose to leave then too but got bumped up to 20100216 but my boy still got that date...where u from?

  • hey i want to enlist in the us army to be an MP where should i go to police school?

also is fort leonard wood just for marines?

  • My cousin is a MP he's in Germany right now . He's coming home for his wedding in three weeks then in June he is off to Afganastan

  • I apreciate that , Thank You, Hooah!

  • Any advise you can give to recruit about to go to OSUT at Ft. Leonard Wood?

  • @Doughboyhq Same advice I'd give anyone going for any MOS. Start waking up at 0400 (according to whatever time zone you'll be in, Central in your case), eat healthy, exercise (especially running), learn Army ranks, memorize the Army Song, Soldier's Creed, General Orders, and in your case Military Police Creed. If you use any tobacco products, QUIT NOW. Best of luck.

  • I am 25 I have finly decided to do somthing with my life. I am going MP looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Do MP's get more arms training than infintry ( spelling sucks I know)

  • @lot0210 Infantry? No. Two seemingly similar but very different jobs. Infantrymen fight, capture or kill the enemy, and take and hold ground. Military Police enforce the law, ensure security for military personnel, their families, and civilians. This is taught from day-one, but anyone knows that OSUT doesn't begin to compare with training with your line unit. Marksmanship, martial arts, and physical fitness are still important, but law enforcement is emphasized also.

  • 31B 20100507, shipping out on 20100427. F LWood of course. Hope to see ya there.

  • im going there 20100414

  • @ spartan....31B here....u actually get to do stuff as MP. Small arms repair you sit in the arms room and clean weapons and fix them all day. Boring job. MP ALL THE WAY

  • 31B 20100202 Ft. Leonard Wood

  • they wouldnt let me do mp........ they said i didnt score high enough.............im doin combat engineer still really excited

  • i need help...i have 2 choose between becoming an MP and becoming a Small Arms/Artillery Repairer...workin with guns would be fun as a civilian job and i plan 2 get a degree as a teacher so i think the Gunsmith job is in someways better 2 secure my future...but there's no adventure...and if the world ends in 2012 i would probably be left feeling hollow...not 2 mention my dad was an MP in Vietnam...but my mom worked in an Armory(she was a Quartermaster) any help will be appreciated...thanx

  • follow your heart...

  • @Spartanwarrioromega this comment is incredibly late and youve probably chosen by now, but if you become an MP you could get a civilian job and an officer aswell..

  • @Spartanwarrioromega

Uhhh bro if you plan on being a teacher, the military isn't for you, unless you find a job that the military has that has something to do with teaching a class, and by teaching I mean by actual school subjects. I'm not trying to rain down on your future/plans but what makes you think 31B MP or 91F small arms/artillery repairer have to do with teaching a school. I want to work for a civilian p.d so I chose 31B MP as a push to the civilian police field. Think ahead bro.

  • shipping out to ft leonard wood 20100531 see you guys there!!

  • auston44 ill be there with ya haha

  • i'll be going here june 9th 2010 as a pfc

  • @Zombie158 ill be there march 23rd for mp you should have forced them to give you mp thats what i did and i even got airborne

  • yai no i mite still be able2 i go to pick in a few days i cant decide if i wanna do mp or combat engineer tho i aint doin 31echo anymore

  • Those were my 2 favorite choices two but mp offers you alot more when you get out and combat engineer I heard is a misirable job but thats just want ive heard I dont wanna offened any combat engineers

  • k thx i think mp is right 4 me cause i wanna be a cop when i get out so yea ill choose mp, if for some reason i cant ill choose combat engineer

  • i go the same day dude.

  • @jakoolaction alright ill see you there dude its coming up really quick only 53 more days

  • is there a combat mp unit in the reserves?

  • Yeah, there is lots of combat MP's in the reserve or guard.

  • Is there different units that are non combat or combat MP's

  • Yes, there are both combat MP's and Law and Order MP's in the Guard or reserve. You should ask a recruiter what your state has.

  • off the top of your head do you know if Ohio is one?

  • yeah, you may want to check with the National Guard's 838th Military Police Company. It looks like they do a lot of Law and Order or Detainee Operations.

  • I'm joining the army as an MP after the holidays. I live in louisiana do you know where I would go for basic?

  • You will more than likely to OSUT (One Stop Unit Training) at FT LeonardWood MO. Total 19 weeks. Have Fun!!!

  • This is my unit!!! WOOOO CHARLIE 795 ALL THE WAY COMMANCHES!!!

  • next year i start my basic training to become a MP

  • If you want free stuff, you should have joined the Air Force. I hear they have there own room where your drill instructor tucks you in at night and your battle buddy brings you french toast in the morning...

  • the kilitary is the military plain and simple. Wthout the marines and the army, the airforce would be nothing! without the air support of the airforce the ground forces like the army would be wiped out in a snap! u dont understand anything!

  • well I will tell you what Private proObamaman123, I think you will have a wake up call once you get to FT. Leonardwood. When you get out and get deployed, I hope you would get assigned to my squad. I would square you away. After I smoke the snot out of you for disrespecting. I'm confident that after your in for a couple of years you will make a good soldier. But right now your just a civilian trying to tell a veteran how the military works. Not too smart bud...

  • by the way.......that was my brother Jarret who was talking to u....my name is kellen and im only a freshmen in high school and the owner of this account! I have much respect for the military but listen here, from what i read, ur arguement has no clear point! basicly what u tried to say is the price of the army is getting killed!!!! thats not what my brother meant. what he meant to say is when u join the military, food is free, living quarters, and equipment!

  • No, my point was that NOTHING is free in the Army. Not food, not living quarters, or the uniform. I dont know about you guys, but I earned every piece of my uniform, I earned the right to eat chow with my brothers, and I earned the right to fight with them. The Army does not just give that stuff away. YOU EARN IT!! What part of this point dont you get?? This makes TWO (2) Civilians telling me how the Army is. This conversation is done. I hope you enjoyed the video. I put it up for you. ;)

  • ok you earn ur right to eat food? and second my point is YOU DO NOT PAY CASH MONEY FOR YOUR FOOD LIVING QUARTERS, OR UNIFORMS......TAXPAYERS DO! POINT MADE.....NOW ITS DONE!!!!!!

  • Typical kid, always have to have the last word. My kids to that too. I understand JR. You do pay for your food. Its not free!

  • no....at this point my parents pay for my food! I'm taking ROTC im not dumbfounded!

ps. just cuz u have served doesnt mean u know everything

  • Hey bud, look into a little thing I like to call PX....

  • And we are not the "killitary" we also build schools, provide aid and supplies to less fortunate populations. We dont just storm buildings and kill people. Its not Hollywood. alot of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears go into what we do. If you ever join (god help us) you will understand what I mean.

  • My brother has already been through basic training and let me tell u he knows his stuff!

  • are you joining active duty or reserve?

  • @ricmictol am joining active duty

  • Military is how some young people get out of their problems in the economy because every thing is free healthcare, food, uniforms, all that good stuff provided by me and yous tax dollars! see, things are used for good people

  • If you ever served in the military you will know that NOTHING comes free! Everything has a sacrifice in some way or another. You try and look your wife and kids in the eyes and tell them you are leaving and might not come home. You stare into the whites of someones eyes before you shoot and kill them or they blow themselves up! It is my fellow brothers in arms that afford someone like YOU the ability to speak your mind. Make sure you do it with RESPECT.

  • well sad my friend, well said. How dare u ProObamaman dis respect the men and women serving our wonderful country and the sacrafices that they make so people like you dont have to.

  • what the hell are u talking about!?!?!?! what i said was the army air force coast gaurd and navy is paid for with our tax dollars! what i said had NOTHING to to with troops sacrificing their lives overseas for our country!

  • whatever kid your not even a tax payer. and fyi, only about 33% of the tax dollars go toward national defense, whilst 12.5 of it is crap like interest.

To be quite frank, i'd rather see a bigger percentage of those taxes going toward national defense.

  • look man, u dont pay to join the military

  • im talkin about money not human life itself!

  • No sir, you are missing the point, the housing is called BAH, and what you call "free food" is paid to us as subsistence. When you are on the clock 24 hours a day for and get paid $45 as an E1 for 24 hours of work. That is 1.87 per hour. well then you could add BAH and subsistence pay for food, that would equal what you civilians would earn in a normal job. Instead of being concerned about the military pay, you should look into what a senator makes.

  • Oh one more thing proObamaman, thanks to your dad for serving, and I am sure he knows some things about the military, but you obviously dont. People in the military dont get anything for free! you shouldnt worry about your tax dollars supporting our troops, you should worry about the crooks of politicians that you obviously support. and what are they doing with our tax dollars. I pay taxes too you know. Your concerns are misdirected. Please educate yourself a little more in regards to the world

  • remember that the 20,000 bonus comes in payments , the first payment comes after graduation an its only 7,500 , then u get paid the rest throughout the duration of your enlistment

  • Its true that if you sing the contract for 6 years as a MP reserve army give you a bonus of 20,000?

  • You will need to check with your local recruiter. Check with Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard to see who has the right offer for you. I joined for service to country, not a bonus......

  • its that a right punch to my face? lol i know god bless you ......Respect

  • nah, not a punch to your face. Everyone has a different reason for joining. But the economy is in such condition as to where a 20k bonus would help a lot of people.

  • what song is that i know its the one in the recruiting commercials but whats the title

  • the title is "Army Strong"

  • Drill Sgt 787th mp ft. leonardwood

  • 31 bravo!!! hooah!!!

  • nice video but don't like the music

  • So say i do 3 years of MP and get out can i go str8 to my local police department and be a police officer.

  • no your mp training will just look good on your background but you would have to go through the same thing as some guy that was never sitting on his ass and one ay said i am going to become a cop.

  • your video is so much better than the one my son brought home from USAMPS in '07. he didn't get any live footage of the 'gas chamber' on his DVD- only photos. this is a real nice summary of the training. thanks for sharing it! hooah!

  • I signed up for MP in the Army Reserve so i could stay in college. I got sick of college after less that a year and now am stuck going to MP training. I wish I could switch to Active Duty and go infantry before I go to MP training... fuck my life

  • So? Knock out your basic and AIT and go active as soon as you get out of training. You can change MOS's on your new contract if you want, or stay MP. 2 1/2 months of active pay during AIT will be good for you, and so will the extra MOS on your record.

  • jdmorgan23 is absolutely correct. If its not what you want to do switch to what makes you happy. I have been an MP now for two years and have a chance to change to 74d and go to air assault school. having two MOS's will sure make look good.

  • that sucks. do u not like being an MP?

  • how long do you have to be in the gas camber ???

  • what is better this or 11b ? what do mp really do which AIT IS HARDER THIS OR 11B

  • 11b Is harder as in any Military Infantryman training is gonna be harder you go to Fort Benning Georgia I belive and I know thats hard shit cause thats first phase of Ranger school.

  • How often do MPs get stationed at a NON-COMBAT base?? I really wanna join in january as an MP but i want to know all the facts!

  • MPs are one of the most deployed MOS's...if you sign a six year contract you are almost guaranteed to be deployed...i love being an MP but if you dont want to deploy find something else

  • Oh no its not that i dont wanna be deployed...I would be honored to fight for my country.....I just want to know if I will be on a US base for a long time??

  • all depends on where you get stationed...one of my friends from basic trainning/AIT was deployed 2 months after graduation...another one of my buddies is an Honor Gaurd MP and wont be deployed for two years...all depends

  • it all depends where you go...one of my buddies from basic/ait was deployed two months after our graduation to Iraq...another one of my buddies became an Honor Guard MP and wont be deployed for 2 years...it all depends where you go

  • OHH ok gottcha! Thanks so much for talking with me!

  • i have a friend who just went infantry and i mentioned being an MP. His older brother was straight infantry and his second brother was air defense. They call it a job that lets u hide behind ur badge and do nothing. I dont want to guard bases all day and i dont want to be out in field to long either. I dont mind but i dont perfer? is that the case for being an Mp, you get the taste of both a somewhat infantry role and a police officer of some sort?

  • The thing about being an MP is that not to many people will like you. How many people really like cops? The reality is that MPs are one of the most deployed MOS's. For example in my graduating platoon only 12 are doing patrolling and doing police work. There are 15 who already are in Iraq or Afghanistan and the rest are National Guard or Reserve and I only graduated a few months ago. MP's are almost like infantry with the exception that we stay mounted and infantry rucks everywhere.

  • what do you mean NON-COMBAT? there is kinda a little war going on, and MP is a combat MOS.

  • Yes....NON-COMBAT.....Not in a war zone...Like in america ....Or abroad not in a war zone......Im aware what a MP does i just want some details........

  • In the current wartime climate, MP's often act as light motorized infantry in theater, and as law enforcement/ combat support readiness at home (if you go active). MP's are the defense, Infantry is the offense.

  • Would anyone recommend going into the US Army right out of high school. I want to be a MP officer or a medic. My grandpa was a medic in the Korean War and got a Purple heart. I want to do this for him. Any suggestions?

  • well if your going medic go into a emt first and see if you like it if you do then go right for it but if you want to became a mp go right out of high school

  • Ok thanks.

  • Don't do it unless you really want to do it for yourself first. Because there will be a time when your doing PT and you are tired and want to quit. make sure you go for the right reasons.

  • I just got back from Leonard Wood, Golf Co. 787 DRAGOONS!!!

  • Smith, Matthews, and Cleaves!!!! are in this video!!

  • wats the gas thing like

  • Its not bad. It just burns and you cant breath. Just go to your happy place ;)

  • holy crap.. this was my training company...

  • Who are you?

  • hey SPC MeLissa Silva (Black since I got married) HOOAH from afghanistan!

  • so who is this??

  • Is anyone leaving in August 26th? I was just sworn in yesterday and now have to wait until the end of summer. Well I guess its more time to get in better shape.

  • i'll let u know that the time that you'll be there it's going to be really really cold and u have to walk everywhere pretty much and do pt in the cold but be mentally ready and buy some calling cards b4 u go

  • Thanks for the adivce. I really wish I could leave earlier, but that was the soonest. Can't wait to leave.

    31-Bravo Military Police

  • Why calling cards?

  • because u cant use your cell phone and the calling cards that they sell there are kinda expensive so if u can get some cheap b4 u go you'll be better off but when u get there they give u a $250 advancement pay

  • apprenitly they are starting a new program where they will hand out cell phones after red phase to the soldiers on sundays during basic for like an hour to call there family... i know some in Ft. Benning who is 11B and they are allowing them to do it.

  • Yeah man I am

  • thank you for you service i would like to go to west point and serve in a stryker battalion.

  • I should be going at the end of May, but might not get in because I had a knee surgery. Wish me luck. *salute*

  • i ship may 14th and I'm fucking pumped.

    31-E.

  • I AM LEAVING THE 12th OF APRIL IN A WEEK

  • shipping out May 28th 2009! cant wait! (I know ill regret saying that)

  • Its 19wks and 1day but that doesnt include reception which can last a week or less for MP training

  • Im leaving in July for Ft Leonard Wood 31Bravo

  • dude totally. what day? I'm leaving for Ft leonard wood 31B on the 16th of july.

  • Jully 9th ill prob see u there ahah

  • yeah probably. You'll be my seiner by seven days lol.

  • when you leavin in july

  • july 9th

  • I'm leaving on july 14 :)

  • I leave August 11th

  • total time there basic and ait is 19 weeks

  • yeah, When I went we had 7 days in processing and then another 7 waiting to fill the company. total 21 weeks. I loved almost every minute of it!

  • aaaaw so peocessing isn't counted in that 19 weeks? I was counting on my husband being home at a certain date...he just got picked up for basic today... poor guy

  • My other half is there right now!!!

  • Leaving for MP 31st Bravo April 15th.. Cant wait.

  • where r u getting stationed? im gonna b at ft. Lwood may10

  • haha, that is the same day I left! Good Luck!

  • I will be heading here on September 9th

  • does anyone know how long mp AIT is? thinking about signing back up for MP

  • i believe its about 9 weeks i have to ask my recruiter though, because im starting bootcamp in the summer hopefully for 9 weeks and he said its another 9 for MP
