@rapala1995 He's using a spinnerbait so it's possibly a mod/fast action.  I wouldn't go with anything higher then 6'9" for spinnerbait and med/heavy. You want accuracy, not distance. Yes, he was using a carrot stix and I'm betting that is either a shimano citicas or calias, it could also be a Abu revo stx too for it's color.

to get into a college championship you have to win or place amongst the TOP 5 at ONE qualifier tourney..there are 4 of those..once you do that you automatically get a seat to fish at Regional Champions..those are two day tourneys with one practice day..place in the TOP 5 at one of those and you get a seat at the National Championships..fishing against the nations top 25 teams..5 teams per region from 5 regions...im in the western..as for sponsorships thats another long talk..ttyl

FLW College is a great program for these kids, and he deserves to be jazzed. The Western series is held mostly on deep clear reservoirs and a big bag is around 10lbs for 6 fish. The Delta is the only chance for these guys to score big fish in their tourneys. I'm impressed these guys can show up on bodies of water they usually know nothing about or have only fished a couple times and perform. Also keep in mind they fish a 1 day tournament after a pro tournament has decimated the lake. Nice!
