This is a absolutely incredible poem. But the singer has changed words while singing. I think this has limited the beauty and simplicity of original song. Although, I must say, for non-Marathi speakers, the translation is very god.

I guess the literal meaning of 'human spirit' is 'Atmaa' and not 'man'; the appropriate word may be 'human mind' for the poem 'man'.

Your two uploads of this simple housewife's poems clearly show how an inspired mind can spontaneously find the extraordinary in the ordinary. The mouth or pen of such a person then simply becomes an instrument of some higher power as Bahinabai Chaudhari affirms. Love both poems as sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Asha Bhonsle, respectively. @BharatGul Inspired mind indeed. There is no usual flowery language of poetry. All her similes refer to the farm life she witnessed daily, like crop with cattle in it, the birds, poppy seeds, encuberance of yoke around the neck of animals etc. Thanks for your comments, somehow your comments always get to the core meaning of poetry albeit Marathi is not your language..

@SJisBack . Thanks, SJ. You are generous to a fault. The fact is that without your translations , at best northerners like me would have a fragmented and tenuous, even inaccurate grasp of Marathi poetry as we recognize some shared diction with Hindi, and at worst no understanding at all !
