@philippusII , you are spanish is not as widely spoken in the philippines as english. blame it on the yankees, after defeating spain in 1890's, they brought into the philippines hundreds of teachers(600+) aboard the USS Thomas, these teachers were sent there to do one thing, to teach english to filipinos. These teachers are what we call nowadays the Thomasites in the Philippines. It is funny, because my great grandfather was a spanish soldier but I barely know how to speak spanish.

@philippusII , you are spanish is not as widely spoken in the philippines as english. blame it on the yankees, after defeating spain in 1890's, they brought into the philippines hundreds of teachers(600+) aboard the USS Thomas, these teachers were sent there to do one thing, to teach english to filipinos. These teachers are what we call nowadays the Thomasites in the Philippines. It is funny, because my great grandfather was a spanish soldier but I barely know how to speak spanish.

Y digo salvo el idioma porque cuando Andrés de Urdaneta llegó a Filipinas pensó que seria mejor adaptar nuestro idioma al indigena para que hubiera una mejor implantanción del cristianismo. Así que, el español nunca se habló mayoritariamente en Filipinas, lo que influyó para que el tagalo se conservo aún hoy en día.
