I think the whole issue is that technology is a slippery slope and we're all becoming more dependent on it whether our dependency is willing or not. I can't help but wonder, if 2012 is only a "solar event" that doesnt kill the world's population but sends out massive EMP's...where will technology and those profiting from it end up?
The main lesson to learn from the Music Industry is that DRM killed it - people want what they want and will always find ways to get it - it's up to Publishers to give the customer what it needs...
