@jacob2289 the human voice is an instrument. go to a concert for your local orchestra and you will likely hear a close to perfect performance. in-tune, good dynamics, etc. just because it sounds good, does that mean it's a pre-recording? No, they practice, pracitce, and practice, for literally weeks/months before the concert. these women are no different. you think they -can't- sound good live, yet -can- sound good in a studio?? why? these aren't pop singers, they're classical artists
One thing I find depressing about the holidays ending is that it means no more Christmas Carols(at an appropriate time) until next Christmas. Good thing beautiful singers like Meav and Orla make them such a treat to listen to!

@LadyMandyism Yes, and the proof is that on the few live videos other than the DVDs out there, they still sound great, but you can notice the difference between the performances... If they were syp-lyncing to a prerecorded track, there wouldn't be any differnces (which is the beauty of live music)... However, for those DVDs and TV specials, I think that the original performance was live, howver, as part of the post-production, they might or might not have rerecorded soem parts.

As a cultural bastard of celto-slavic heritage raised in an aftrican-american environment, I think we should say that these women took good musical arrangements, and took them to a whole new level. (I know about arranging--I have done a lot). However, I don't think their ethnicity had much to do with it. They are good, but they would be just as good in say, Italian or Russian. 'Celtic" = marketing schtick.

Sorry to shatter the illusion - I'm a big Celtic Woman fan - but Orla misses her lipsynch for an entire line at 1:26. Nonetheless, great arrangement between their voices - especially at the end.
@Gentlenesspact No, that was the choir's line, then Orla joined in again. It's common practice to choose backup singers with similar vocal styles, so the voices don't clash. Celtic Woman doesn't lip-synch.
Reviewing the total views of Celtic Woman's videos on Youtube as well as the position of CW's album on charts, I can claim that the most successful and flourishing period of CW is when Orla and Meav are still there. Why? Audience always prefer the Celtic heritage strongly shown through perfromance of both Orla and Meav and old CW. Nowadays the new CW lost that uniqueness with Disney songs. Lynn and Alex can't help boost the sales of CW's albums and views of new CW on Youtube.
@Tangerine258 I agree, but otherwise it makes me wonder.. it are often Lisa and Chloë who got and get the full praise with their solo-performances. I think CW's succes was because of the big contrast between the songs, now it's all much of the same. Still enjoyable, but not so unique anymore.

Orla seemed the 'most Irish' the group I thought in that you could hear her accent in her singing. All were great! Meav may have been the best singer in the lot. Miss 'em both!
I miss them both so much! They're both so incredibly talented with very lovely and very unique voices. I'm glad to have Orla and Meav together again (even if its only just for this DVD)!!!
yeah i stopped watching CW after they disneyfied it with their damn cheoregraphy and americanized songs. I was so so so disappointed. But these two I stuck with. They seem to have emotion and depth behind their talent.
I love this rendition. Meav, followed closely by Orla, was my favorite from Celtic Woman. The Irish flavor she and Orla lended to the group is unparalled. Without them, I seldom watch the current group since I feel they have lost their uniqueness

@BlackRaven87 They didn't leave the group on bad terms! Meav left because she wanted to concentrate on her solo career and her family. The touring simply took too much time from the family for Meav. That's also why Alex left. Orla left just before the Isle of Hope tour because she simply felt that she couldn't keep up with the touring schedule. Same thing with Lynn's recent departure. The current CW tour is over 80 stops, not including the summer German tour. Its hard on everyone involved.
@mattycakes117 I do not want to argue or cause problems but let me just say that I know a bit more about the group that the average person does. Also, I never said anything about Alex and Lynn leaving the group on bad terms, just Meav and Orla.

@cwfannumber1 It's a pretty lengthy explanation, but in short, CW management wouldn't give Meav or Hayley a full time schedule in the tours: it was EITHER Meav or Hayley. Both are accomplished musicians and deserve to be heard. They did the same thing with Deidre, who also left in disgust because of it. Meav decided not to continue because she was not appreciated, but CW publicity management told the public that she wanted to spend time with her fam. Hayley left for the same reason.
@cwfannumber1 Orla did not like the way CW treated Meav, Hayley, or Deidre and left (wisely) to pursue a solo career. They are such tactful and ethical women: you'll never hear them talk even slightly down of CW. I suspect that this situation is the main reason CW has a hard time getting new vocalists now. Nobody stayed except Lisa K and Chloe. Lisa's husband works for CW somewhere so that's probably why she hasn't had problems. Idk about Chloe... I guess she's a fan fave so they give her alot.

Reviewing the total views of Celtic Woman's videos on Youtube as well as the position of CW's album on charts, I can claim that the most successful and flourishing period of CW is when Orla and Meav are still there. Why? Audience always prefer the Celtic heritage strongly shown through perfromance of both Orla and Meav and old CW. Nowadays the new CW lost that uniqueness with Disney songs. Lynn and Alex can't help boost the sales of CW's albums and views of new CW on Youtube.

@Tangerine258 I agree, but otherwise it makes me wonder.. it are often Lisa and Chloë who got and get the full praise with their solo-performances. I think CW's succes was because of the big contrast between the songs, now it's all much of the same. Still enjoyable, but not so unique anymore.
I agree that I miss those two terribly... They were my favorites.

So let's all email David Downes and ask him to invite Orla, Hayley, Meav, Lynn, and Alex all back into Celtic Woman again. Alex and Lynn will sound much better with Orla, Hayley and Meav!

Orla seemed the 'most Irish' the group I thought in that you could hear her accent in her singing. All were great! Meav may have been the best singer in the lot. Miss 'em both!

I miss them both so much! They're both so incredibly talented with very lovely and very unique voices. I'm glad to have Orla and Meav together again (even if its only just for this DVD)!!!

yeah i stopped watching CW after they disneyfied it with their damn cheoregraphy and americanized songs. I was so so so disappointed. But these two I stuck with. They seem to have emotion and depth behind their talent.

I love this rendition. Meav, followed closely by Orla, was my favorite from Celtic Woman. The Irish flavor she and Orla lended to the group is unparalled. Without them, I seldom watch the current group since I feel they have lost their uniqueness

@BlackRaven87 They didn't leave the group on bad terms! Meav left because she wanted to concentrate on her solo career and her family. The touring simply took too much time from the family for Meav. That's also why Alex left. Orla left just before the Isle of Hope tour because she simply felt that she couldn't keep up with the touring schedule. Same thing with Lynn's recent departure. The current CW tour is over 80 stops, not including the summer German tour. Its hard on everyone involved.

@cwfannumber1 It's a pretty lengthy explanation, but in short, CW management wouldn't give Meav or Hayley a full time schedule in the tours: it was EITHER Meav or Hayley. Both are accomplished musicians and deserve to be heard. They did the same thing with Deidre, who also left in disgust because of it. Meav decided not to continue because she was not appreciated, but CW publicity management told the public that she wanted to spend time with her fam. Hayley left for the same reason.

@cwfannumber1 Orla did not like the way CW treated Meav, Hayley, or Deidre and left (wisely) to pursue a solo career. They are such tactful and ethical women: you'll never hear them talk even slightly down of CW. I suspect that this situation is the main reason CW has a hard time getting new vocalists now. Nobody stayed except Lisa K and Chloe. Lisa's husband works for CW somewhere so that's probably why she hasn't had problems. Idk about Chloe... I guess she's a fan fave so they give her alot.
