Wow I thought drivers here were bad... Those idiots didn't know how to yield to you at all. And for the person asking why you parked so close... Well let's see the cops parked on both sides of the road in the way as usual so where do you expect the ambulance to park?
@plymouthblood They don't have to back away from the car. Any emergency vehicle has the right to park anywhere within the scene to creat a barrier or a protective surrounding so they can work safetly.
@plymouthblood At the moment the traffic is stopped but it will take a good hour or hour and a half to get this subject out of the car, clean up the accident, and write the accident reports. The traffic is not going to stay stoped the whole time. They made a Barrier so when the traffic moves again they will have to go around the ambulance meaning they will have to go around the accident meaning that the emergency crews can work safely.
I feel for you guys, you have some stupid ass people down there, like they ate lead paint for 18 years, oh look Red and Blue lights I think I will keep driveing, then when they don't move and find out it was for thier Mother Father bother sister Husband or Kids it's than, why did you not get here faster.
@AvsSensBest It is not as close as you may think. Both drivers story match so there is not going to be a whole lot of investigating. There were no fatalities, so there again there won't be much investigating. It had been flooding rain prior to and during the crash, so there was not much of any skid marks. So with all that, there was no scene to ruin.. One of those drivers admitted to being at fault. Had there been a scene the police would not have let us drive in where we did.
@AvsSensBest Also keep in mind that no matter what, the lives of the victims comes before the investigation. If EMS feels they need to be closer in order to have the best chance at saving a life that takes precedence over the investigation.
@giantenemycrabX I guess you did not see the heavy rain, or the fact that we passed everyone on the road. How fast would you drive in these conditions? Had we crashed there would have been no one to transport. I like to make it safely to the scene. we were exceeding the posteg limit.
@s5medic516 I'm sorry, I wasn't suggesting you drive faster. I was wondering if there is some sort of rule or protocol about driving speeds depending on emergency and conditions. Basically I was wondering how you balance the emergency with also driving safely. I realize it sounded like one of those "I drive ambulances in GTA going 120mph and I'm fine so you should drive that fast too", but that wasn't my intentions.
@LatviaRullz1 Code 3 is use of lights and siren. We do not use codes 3,4,5 etc in my area.. I just use that because some people search for videos using code 3...We use "10" codes here. 10-17 would be code 3.
@rykember11 I think the vest are required by National DOT. ALL emergency personal must where them on all traffic ways. I think this is Nation wide. If some of my subscribers know for sure please post response.
@s5medic516 Any Federal Funded Roadway, all personnel are required to wear at least an ANSI Class II vest or the combination to be at least ANSI Class II compliant. Even if it wasn't required, should do it anyways. Nothing will stop a car from hitting you, but it could help someone avoid you.
Just out of curiosity what kind of ambulance is it?

i think also getting close to a scene to help a dying patient is more important than preserving the scene

What was the thinking behind parking so close to the scene, you just ruined any possible decent investigation for the cops

It's sad if people driving on the opposite side of the road will pull over and slow down a bit but people on your side just keep cruising like usual.
