Reducing birth rates isn't an easy business. You have to reduce it slow, otherwise you'll have a massive old population. In that sense, I think India is doing a good job by reducing it the natural way.
My wife and I have 7 sons,but our income allows us to support them easily....The American population density is only 34 people per km,excluding Alaska.... Only half of China is habitable,the Gobi Desert and Himalayas are massive...So its understandable, because land restraints and lower income .. Shanghai like many parts of China has they're own dialect and customs, I think they are against it because of this. My mum is HK Han while my dad is Shanghainese, my Shanghainese grandparents do everything Shanghainese way. you're absolutely right. It's kind of like how many people think that EVERYONE in Africa is poor and living in a shack or in the bushes with diseases and flies crawling on their children. When you actually go there, you'll see although it's certainly not as developed as the west, there are various lifestyles and class levels just like everywhere else.

And looking at how this world is already MASSIVELY overpopulated I'd say it's rather a bad thing to have more than two children. And a good thing to have only 1.
Overpopulation is what impairs the freedom of the individual in the end, and therefore 1 or 2 child policies are a MUST in all countries.
