I've seen Videos of Buffalo and Zebra crossing water and killed by Crocs too and they can't find any other way around lol And just like this sometimes they cannot get up the bank the other side. Slaughter!!

Yup, get past the jaws of death, and then realise you have ot turn back and do it all again. That would suck. Those gazelles are the size of sheep, so it gives you an idea of the size of the crocs (like the man said).

Why don't they go around the river, you say? Well, that river is hundreds of miles long.

The grass and leaf matter these gazelles eat is fairly low in nutrition, so that means they don't get a lot of energy out of it.

The strain of trekking across hundreds of miles of croc-free dry land would cost far more energy and gazelle lives than swimming through 60 feet of croc-infested river.

And actually, this kind of migration only occurs maybe once or twice a year.

Humans can survive for a maximum of one month without food, whereas crocs can manage up to two years. But logically, a croc that hasn't eaten for a year is like a human who hasn't eaten for two weeks straight. The hunger pains must be staggering...

Although the crocs can go for unbelievably long periods of time without food, they're still going to be *really friggin' hungry* by the migration!

It's the same thing that makes people bothered by watching a snake killing another animal. Cats, wolves, etc you can see, you can keep an eye on them. The crocs, are so much harder to see.
