  • I was talking with my fed ex driver at work about Atlanta and he claims Atlanta is a nice city and hears the cost of living is cheaper in Atlanta then up in Baltimore. Which is one reason I intend to move to Atlanta. I did see ATL's violent crime rank is the same as Baltimore and property crime is at 9 on a scale from 1-10 as Baltimore its at 6. So how safe do you feel Atlanta is? I would like to move to another city and wish to move somewhere safer then Baltimore.

  • @MrWill1985 I personally like Baltimore, I find it an interesting place for what I like to do but living there may be a different deal. Crime is bad in some places in Atlanta, like any big city, just stay away from those areas and everything will be fine. In the main parts of the city and metro area I'd say it's pretty safe overall.

  • I am going to visit different cities to determine where I should move to. Im sure downtown in any city is well patrolled by police but surrounding downtown in each city can be a different story. Baltimore has even gotten to a point surveillance cameras had to be installed in most inter city neighborhoods. Even downtown. But I still avoid bad neighborhoods in almost any major city.

  • Nice

  • yes people do jaywalk i do it! trying to get to class and no cars be there

  • Forever I Love Atlanta

  • ha! atl is a mixture of everyone from the south, north, midwest, etc..u get some drivers who will drive u into the sidewalk or barriers and others u just have got to lay on the honk to move the hell out the way for driving so slow..and then those who cant stay in their lanes!!!i love the nighttime scenery it is really pretty..video is very nice

  • @NiVeA5678 Thank you and you are right about people from everywhere else, my family moved here from New England when I was a kid back in the 70's.

  • People jaywalk all the time here in atlanta thats why I live in Marietta

  • good video and great music

  • @90skidlalala Thank you!

  • i lived in atlanta for 3 weeks about 2 months ago and i traveled up and down peachtree street all day everday. i was staying under a marta bridge right behind the greyhound station

  • do u live in atlanta right now.

  • @redsoxguy617 Yes, I've lived in the Atlanta area since 1977.

  • @Freewayjim do u know the last name of baines?

  • @redsoxguy617 No.

  • @Freewayjim k nevermind.

  • I Love Atlanta!!!!!

  • @ 1:45 - Hey, what do you have against Virginia Tech fans????

  • @papilgee4evaeva What exactly did I say that's negative about VT Fans? I made a point that they guy who was turning left from the middle lane was from out of town with VT stickers, in for a ball game (Chick Fil-a-Bowl). Geez! As if turning left from the middle lane isn't bad enough on it's own merit, the VT mention was nothing more than college FB gamesmanship, this is SEC country you know.

  • @Freewayjim LOL, no beef. Just asking. BTW, we did beat SEC member Tennessee handily in that bowl game. :)

    (VT class of 2005)

  • @papilgee4evaeva Tennessee was what 6-6? The ACC team in that game ALWAYS plays a lower ranked SEC team just to keep it fair. ACC is 2-11 in BCS games since the format started, SEC teams win championships :)

  • @Freewayjim Tenn was 7-5 going into that game, and #23 FSU did beat #20 SCar in this past season's CFA bowl, so... :) I'll admit that the ACC hasn't shown up in bowl games like we'd like to... hopefully that turns around soon.

  • at 0:37 I've been on that connecting bridge. I think that's the highest one in the city. It's so fun to look down, but kinda scary too!

  • hi,it seems that ALT is beautiful, but I've heared that there are some dangerous areas! I want to know them...and how they're are dangerous??! (we're from France and we're gonna internt at Georgia Tech Research Institute)

  • @theprince16031988 Don't to too far south of the GT campus.

  • OH GOODNESS!!...wanna go to USA :(

  • the quality looks a little bit like GTA

  • my city !!!!!!! i love atlanta thumps up if you think like me !!!

  • 2dislikes need to get out more.

  • Man the music is so relaxing Atlanta is beautiful. How dare you get 2dislikes!

  • @1xoirc Can't please everyone I guess :(

  • @1xoirc it may be beautiful but it is so overated. It is country and boring.

  • @JkillaJ15 Boring?are you kidding me?

  • Yes boring. its not any near ny or philly

  • @JkillaJ15 Dude please! Philly? really? (smh) and NYC, is that fair comparison for any city not named Chicago or LA?

  • @Freewayjim Just because Philly doesn't get as much media attention as atl doesn't mean atl is better. Philly is a much larger city than atanta and it has alot to do. Everything is around the corner. Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago are the only cities that look similar or somewhat similar to ny. LA is not all that either it is overated. I've been to all the cities you named so I can comment on it. You go by popularity. I bet you haven't set foot in philly.

  • @JkillaJ15 Newer cities in the south are more spread out in general. Philly has natural boundaries that Atlanta does not have and land (for whatever reason) is more expensive as is the case with all "older" northern cities. I do not go by popularity, dude, I've filmed Philly, and seen plenty of it beyond that, I like Baltimore and Pittsburgh much better than Philly. I guess a fair comment is that we probably look for different things in a city so to say one sucks and another is kind of silly.

  • @Freewayjim I guess your right

  • @Freewayjim So far Ive been to 5 major Cities. Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and NY. I do plan to visit Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, as well as Columbus. And Baltimore which is the city I grew up in is the worst city Ive been to. Simply because too many panhandlers and the fact the judicial system of Baltimore is too lenient. Have you ever had to handle ATLs judicial system and if so how good of a job do they do with justice?

  • @MrWill1985 I've never dealt with the judicial system in Atlanta, like any big city it has it's pluses and minuses. Yes the cost of living is far more reasonable here than any other city this size. Don't move to Atlanta, move to the northern suburbs of Atlanta, big difference. (Outside I-285 and north US-78). Charlotte is similar to Atlanta, just a smaller version that is still growing but the difference is that Charlotte is a Southern City, Atlanta is an International city.

  • @Freewayjim I have leaned towards moving to one of the suburbs if I move to one of the 2 cities. Hopefully the northern suburbs since Im currently living north of ATL and Charlotte. I may set foot downtown occasionally like I do in Baltimore. As far as Judicial systems. I have charges against my ex in Baltimore after she stole money out of my bank account without permission and she is being let off if she pays it back and this was her third theft she commit according to her background.

  • @1xoirc Thanks, I just got 3 now, I mean if people don;t like ATL fine but don't take it out on me, lol.

  • @Freewayjim Pay them no mind keep doing your videos.

  • @1xoirc Thanks, you bet!

  • @Freewayjim You welcome Jim.

  • "Fluid" by Johnny Fiasco, it was listed in the closing credits.

  • What's the music playing in the background? I like it

  • sorry dude but this video is boring and the music sucks

  • @elcore100 And how many videos have you produced?

  • Awsome video brillant Quality!! :)

  • @jim301288 Thank you!

  • just took this route today pretty much from downtown to 85 north but lots more people

  • I enjoyed your video! thanks sharing.

  • @Onemillionmoney Thanks for watching.

  • Peachtree Street is basically the Broadway of Atlanta. Freewayjim, I'd like your opinion, former Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin unveiled a $1 billion, 20-year plan to transform Peachtree Street with streetscape upgrades, public parks, buried utilities and the addition of a streetcar. Are you looking forward to Peachtree Street becoming a tourist mecca?

Also about using the crosswalk, I agree. Not a lot of people know right of way laws in Georgia. But drivers can't just strike the pedestrian. :)

  • @MyMultimedia Yeah, I think that would be a neat thing.

  • Waiting patiently for the New year day ATL tour.......I can't wait !!!

  • @remnant72 Probably not this year :)

  • This was the best part of staying in Atlanta.Peachtree Street. The driving is crazy, but once u learn the roads its a cool place to visit.

  • i love atlanta.i live in monroe ga

  • Hey!!! You passed by the Georgian Terrace Hotel!!! I stayed there once visiting Emory!!! It's really nice

  • @Jazzman7893 Also there was a prom going on at the Fox Theater from what I saw from my window, is it normal for stuff like the to happen there?

  • Nice video . Clear shots. 2:47 it's like the traffic lights are dancing .

  • Everytime I turn around, something is always underconstruction in this city. Dope vid!

  • Never drive slow in Atlanta. Everybody loves to go over the speed limit.

  • you are a very aggresive driver. Seems like everyone in big cities are

  • @Ck370z Not so much aggressive, just trying to keep the view clear for the video.

  • Great street video! I have 3 more street tours planned. There's just some crazy pedestrians in that area.

  • midtown atlanta is full of yuppies and hipster losers. fake.

  • at 1:29 is that emory university?

  • ooh i was just down there last week for the wonder girls and 2pm concert!

  • have you ever thought about shooting a night tour of atlanta in town streets and neighborhoods?

  • @pimpsquad27: Yes, I may eventually shoot the downtown/Buckhead streets at night. The Neighborhoods are not lit well enough for that, and really I would not be interested in that anyway.

I do have a video of the ATL downtown freeways at night posted.

  • @Freewayjim maybe I shouldn't have used the term neighborhoods, but I was referring to placing like atlantic station, the lindbergh area and such. as well as downtown, midtown , and buckhead.

  • @pimpsquad27: Yeah, I could see doing those places at night sometime.

  • OMG...this city is so different now? I haven't visited Atlanta in almost 10 years wow, shoot the only think vaguely familiar is the Bank of America Plaza. WOW!

  • Great music

  • Man, Atlanta sure is a cool city

  • I remember Peachtree having its fair share of Hippies and sex shops, head shops etc...man how things have changed.

  • What abandoned building did you pass at 1:22? It's sad that building fell into neglect, and obviously was a nice building long ago.

  • I don't know what that building was, did not notice it to be honest.

  • Never mind, I did some quickie internet research and found it was the Medical Arts Building. The website Emporis has a good page on the history of that building, and sadder that both it hasn't been used since 1995 and is the only high-rise near downtown to be abandoned.

  • Nice soothing video of downtown ATL.

@ 1:42 the van turning right from the middle lane, I notice more idiots doing that every day.

  • i love peachtree st, i went there once, if i remeber correctly its sort of like detroits woodward avenue ( serivcing highly populated surburban areas with a direct route to downtown). also, did u notice that the billboard at 3:42 was exactly what u were doing? and also, i i dont think u caught the peachtree towers in your video ( you were going the other way) its a maginficent site to see. i like atlanta @ night better though, the buildings light up giving the sky a beige tent. WOOT 4 COBBCOUNTY

  • Ur rite it does look like detroit's Woodward Ave. I haven't been in Detroit since 1998. How does it look now. UB

  • It's so interesting(and almost floors me) to me that Olympic torch decoration at 4:46 is still there, even a decade and a half after it was first placed to market the coming of the 1996 Olympics to Atlanta. Totally doesn't surprise me to see it's now being used as a billboard for of all things, Chick-Fil-A!

Also looks like jaywalkers there are as annoyingly aggressive as many I see in Chicago. Your pics of poor ones were good, as someone who is very careful before ever doing that myself!

  • That's not Olympic torch decoration that you see. It appears to be the circular Peach billboards. The ornament on top of the billboard is a Peach not the Olympic torch.

  • Thanks, Jim for answering my question. It was a foolish one though. Those laws only applied to people driving while using cell phones. I apologize for my ignorance. UB

  • No prob :)

  • You just can't help yourself from making stupid comments can you?

THE VIDEO IS SPED UP so it looks far worse than it really was, I was never above 40 MPH at any point. Geez!

  • Man, I wouldn't even keep responding to them -- just block 'em and move on.

  • I think you are right Bryant.

  • Yeah, I've had several ignorant comments posted on my vids and didn't even give them (the posters) the satisfaction of an argument.

  • Yeah, I would ban him, if I were you, Jim.

  • it's people like you that cause people to weave in and out of traffic, that or get blocked in.

  • Oh geez, another one.

Yeah Brent I did ban him, dude was 53 years old too, what a tool.

  • i was talking about the guy that commented on your weaving not you jim. good video and sorry about the misunderstanding.

  • Ah, gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.

  • You post like an asshole.

How can you make an assumption about my turn signal? which I do in fact use.

I don't normally drive like this but when filming I try to stay in clear space as much as possible, far be it for you to make any other assumptions.

  • great city!!

    I see a bicycle lane?......red lane.

  • Thanks, It takes me about 20-25 minutes depending on traffic.

  • nice driving!

  • I like how you manuever in downtown traffic, like a real professional.

  • Nice vid.

lol u ran into alot of obstacles jaywalkers, people turning from middle lane. slow drivers

i think quatlen ment Duluth, MN ; )

  • Well if that's the case eluko79 already did a wonderful video of Duluth, MN. I doubt I'll ever get up that way to be honest.

Duluth GA is a major suburb, I thought he meant that :)

  • Very nice, Jim.

  • I love watching these videos, I would really love to see videos of Duluth.

  • Eh, other than I-85, what's really worth filming in Duluth?

  • Centuryrox just posed an very interesting ? With the new year/decade the laws are changing. I'm asking are there any laws against filming while driving?

  • Not that I'm aware of with the exception of certain facilities in NY City.

Keep in mind that I'm not touching the camera at all during these videos, once it's on it's on, plus I have a remote if I need to pause it or anything or I do it at a stop light by just reaching over so I'm not distracted in the least.

  • 3:01--many years ago, there was a Steak-Out on the left where I worked for a little over a year after college when I lived in the ATL...

  • I always enjoy watching your vids in full screen mode. It's just like being there!

  • great vid .. glad to finally see downtown atlanta in hd .. thanks a bunch

  • Awesome Drive! Nice to see your vids again. It'd be nice to see more stoplight poles instead of wires but you got the awesome highways to make up for it.

  • Thanks, and I would agree with you on the poles.

  • Another great video, Jim.

Just curious, but have you ever been pulled over by a cop during your trips? And, if so, what did the cop have to say about your mounted camera?

  • Thanks and no.

  • love it...just out of curiosity what kind of car do you drive? must be nice for all your travels!! Love your city

  • Thanks, I shot this video in my Acura TL, on longer trips I usually take my wife's Acura MDX.

  • Nice video, Jim.

I dislike that part of Peachtree Street, a bit, near Crawford Long, because of the cars that park in the number three lane, heading northbound.

The APD had put some gates, to prevent peds from jaywalking over there by Peachtree Center.

  • I agree, that is insane, luckily they fixed that issue on the section near the Arts center.

  • Yeah, that section was a mad house, with all of the weaving.

  • Great video. Do you have a special mount for the camera ? I've done a few of these videos and while my hand is steady, the resulting video STILL shows too much movement for my liking. I look forward to your next video

  • Thanks, yes I use a tripod secured on the passenger seat floorboard.

  • That is a cool drive. Central Atlanta is much more urban than many people think, especially because Atlanta is known for it's low-density residential housing.
