  • My Grandpa played football with Bob at Michigan and they were pretty good friends. He passed away last month and among his other things, I found a talking Bob Ufer bobblehead he had. Pretty fkn awesome.

  • THE HUMAN TORPEDO!

  • Nothing against Frank Beckmann....But I wish we had someone like Ufer doing the games now...

  • I became a Bob Ufer fan when I was 9 years old. My Dad, brother, sister and I were sitting in the car an outdoor A&W stand in Kalamazoo, and we were listening to the Michigan-OSU game. Dennis Franklin was the quarterback; this was 10-10 tie in which he broke his collarbone. I remember that I just loved hearing Bob Ufer (at the time I thought his name was Bob BUFORD!) call the game, and instantly became a fan. I still love his Uferisms; I still call that place in Columbus the "Snakepit"!

  • Bob Ufer was the greatest he made me a Michigan fan when I heard him at 13 and 42 years later I still am a Miiiiiiiichigan fan! Go Blue!

  • Thanx for the memories benny....GO BLUE!!!!!!

  • May God Bless Bob's Cotton pickin Maize & Blue Michigan heart!

  • I was a die hard Buckeye living in Michigan from 77-81. Before ESPN or DirecTV, if I wanted football, I had to listen to UM. Bob Ufer was the BEST. Loved to listen... (Go Bucks)!

  • ufer was great. for more fun listen to the voice of the dawgs the legendary larry munson.

  • This is a good tribute put together for Bob Ufer

  • "Two tightends and a balanced line. Hucklbey deep and Davis close -- Ricky Leach under center! " I can still hear it after all these years!

  • @Bubba33Thomas

I can still see them after all these years. Leach destroyed OSU while he was there (unfortunately). Obviously I am an OSU fan, but I still think Ufer was great and I miss the 10 year war.

  • During the 1970's, we'd watch U of M on television without the sound listen to Ufer on the radio.

Those were the days. Ufer honking Patton's horn, the rivalry of Bo and Hayes, the toilet paper flying across the stands of the Big House...nothing will ever match it.

    Thanks for the tribute!

  • I never got to hear his games live, but every sunday during the football season, AM 1050 replays one of the games he called

  • really? what time???? does this still happen? i was raised on Ufer games... would love to take a walk on a sunday w/ ufer in my ear.... what a good walk down memory lane that would be :)

  • I love his horn that he used when Michigan scored!

    Go Blue!

  • Back then we had Ernie Harwell and George Kell doing the Tigers, Bruce Martyn with the Red Wings, a young George Blaha with the Pistons, Bob Reynolds doing the Lions, and Ufer.

Cripes, how could you *not* turn into a rabid sports fan?

  • Very true... Ufer (and my dad) made me the MEECHIGAN fan that I am!!! GO BLUE!!!

p.s. how about the game this past saturday!!! Ufer would have been screaming his head off!!!

  • This is one of the best comments I have ever read on Youtube! You are so right!

  • the greatest ever period meechegan football !

  • When Michigan played on TV you turned down the volume and listened to Bob Ufer. His pregame talks with Bo were the best, even humbling Bo with his facts.

  • YES Every game we did that

  • "Russell Davis ran through there like a bull with a bee in his ear"! MY personal favorite Bob Ufer quote.

  • Bob Ufer was the best, he made listening to Michigan Football fun. I am a Spartan fan, we had Ray Lane announcing our games. Ufer rocks.

  • My dad went to Michigan and he said that when you listened to Ufer, the other team didn't exist. It was all about Michigan. Gosh I wish I could listen to just one game nowadays where the announcers were biased for the Maize and Blue. No one even compares to this guy.

  • Amazin' ! Grew up listening to him in A2 and loved hearing recent radio re-broadcasts on UM's off week during the season. Thanks!

  • He passed away when I was in my crib but I never get tired of hearing his old broadcasts.

  • The greatest broadcaster all-time. To adapt a line from Wordsworth: Bob Ufer! Where are you now when Michigan needs you the most..." Thank you for all of the memories.

  • May God Bless Bob's Maize & Blue Michigan heart.

  • On Nov. 17, 2006 Bo Schembechler passed away at77. Bo now joins Ufer,Woody and Yost up in the football heavens. R.I.P Bo.

  • God Bless Bob Ufer and all of those who bleed Maize and Blue !!!

  • WOW!! He was quite a broadcaster.

  • God bless Bob Ufer!
