Love that frosty green Smith. I'd like to see one w/rosewood or whatever is available now. Just something about green guitars that is hard to pull off , but yours is very cool. I just subscribed and look forward to you.
how did i sound Dave? i thought it was pretty smooth. i liked that little slide set up you had at the beginning of your lead playing.. did you like the chord work i had worked into that? :D
just joshin ya! i like the concept you have for this though, truthfully.
LOVE THESE. Have this slapped through appletv and stereo. Seriously jamming out here. Thanks for this. Could we get the backing track a little more prominent in the mix?
This may end up being one of the best things for a lot of us even if we don't realize it yet. It was fun for me. First time I actually had a guitar in my hands for a video of yours. A lot of times I just use the videos as a lesson to apply later. Here I am getting a focused practice.
Dave - I was thinking that it could be important to mention that jamming and trading licks isn't about who's better or worse at playing guitar, and getting wrong notes is just as important as playing what you know well because there is growth and learning in the wrong notes.
I was looking at it with a 13yr student that I mentor and he made the comment that he wasn't as good as you. I told him that _I_ wasn't as good as you either ... but I still played to it.
This is great Dave, love the direction Riff of the Week is headed and I also love this new Jam With Me idea you got going on here. I'm sure you already know, but your phrasing is also ridiculously delicious man.
Haha I love this! It's kind of like jamming with someone on stage and ALOT more fun/interactive than playing to a straight backing track. Looking forward to more!
It would be pretty cool if you had a part where the viewer could harmonize with your leads. Harmonizing leads is something, that I think anyway, that turns a pretty cool jam into something that's awesome.Very cool idea Dave, looking forward to more of these videos! Nice improv/backing track too!
Now this is pretty cool. Perhaps people could give suggestions of things they'd like to solo over or to see how you work a solo or rhythm part for them?
AWESOME LESSON!!! I wish more jam tracks were like this. It's very cool seeing the ideas of what you can do and building off that. Real playing examples makes all the difference.
Dave, this is probably one of the best concepts I've ever seen for a video series. It's pretty hard for me to find really great cats to jam with where I live, so this is a welcome addition to my Wednesdays. And Thursdays, and Fridays, and... You get the idea. Bravo, good sir!
Dude, this is seriously awesome! I can't tell you how reassuring it is to learn that even players as awesome as you can make mistakes while improv soloing. I thought really good players like yourself just ripped off flawless solos with ease and that I sucked because I can't do that - so it is truly inspirational to realize that the mistakes I make when I am trying to improv solo are totally natural. Forget Riff of the Week - you should be charging for these awesome videos.
Nice vid Dave, couple of questions (which i`m going to put on the forum too), What Tempo? and how many bars do we get? and does anyone know of a way to extract the audio from the vid? so I can just put it straight into protools (laptop speakers are going to be drowned out by my amp)
Hey dave has anyone ever told you how much you look like John Travolta? I think you should embrace it and do a disco themed video.....in a white tux!!!
Dave, is there a mailing list we can subscribe to to know when your new services come online? Who knows what will become a priority in life early next year, I think am likely to forget.
This was a GREAT idea! It's super fun to try and match the techniques you used and it helped me pinpoint what I need to improve on. Like when I tried to compliment your double stops I found my choice of intervals to be in bad taste. I'll be practicing with this whenever I get a chance until next week's! =D
I like this feature. My friend is using my guitar to lay down tracks so I grabbed the bass and jammed the rhythm section. Found it quite fun and forces me to practice new techniques and keys.
