@the80h all the elements existed well before hip hop came about as a culture,it was already part of street life & gang culture in the Bronx,it wasnt until all the elements came together under Afrika Bambaataa & the ZULU Nation that the culture was formed, the name itself comes from slang used by Keith Cowboy of the Furious 5,mainly the 1st heads were bboys and graff, then DJs' & then the MC'S.but rap artist were around before''hiphop''came about as a culture.hiphop and rap.dont get mixed up lol.
