  • wait.....saun of the dead?!?!?!?

  • I've got an addiction to backpacking in wet weather. It's like a test to see how well I can performa nd stay dry.

  • its a vid about camping in the rain but the tent is a pitch inner 1st - not the best tent then a outer 1st would have been a better one to use

  • @ascar77uk does seem a bit daft doesnt it - i wouldnt even consider owning a tent that pitches inner first. Especially here in the Uk when it can be sunny one minute and torrential downpour the next lol

    Peace

  • Whats the name of tent you have

  • pop into one of the 40 plus stores and get utterly ripped off by our overpriced kit. or alternatively go online to find it much much cheaper.

  • It also pays to be well prepared - especially if you are camping in unpredictable British weather. Being able to put up your tent quickly is essential...

  • I reckon camping in the rain is fun, as long as you've got kit that is bombproof weather wise, like ma' Vango Tempest 200! ;)

  • shame wild camping is illegal in England and Wales

  • @sweetypie000

as long as you don't get caught. ;)

  • @SaintBroken oh sure, it dosen't put me off he-he :D

  • @sweetypie000 legal on dartmoor

  • @sweetypie000 It isnt actually illegal - just very restricted. I looked into it last year and there is a website (cant remember the name of it) that lists all the legal do's and don'ts. A lot of it has to do with altitude, distance away from walls surrounding fields, distance from roads and also rivers and streams. You could camp anywhere when i was a lot younger.

It's surprising how much of what we think of as wild and free to use land is actually owned by someone

    Peace

  • @RumbleGuts2112 Please, Please do not undermine the facts - it does nothing to aid right-to-roam and wild camping.

trust me, theres no argument here, wild camping IS ILLEGAL. I don't know where you looked but it is wrong. Wild Camping is illegal England and Wales. It is tollerated in Scotland but basically partly illegal. Dartmoor turns a blind eye - just and that's the ONLY place in England and Wales.

Really, please think before you add a comment like that

ALL land is owned by someone.

  • @sweetypie000 Under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 , wild camping is classed as Trespass

Trespass is a civil wrong, not a criminal offence. And whilst wild-camping is not permitted by law, it is not illegal.

    Peace

  • @RumbleGuts2112 Now you are clutching at straws. Go tresspassing in England and Wales and you will feel the full force of the law.

Apparently to you 'Tresspass' is not illegal ? you are insane!

Go read the forums on wild camping and peoples real time experiences

  • @sweetypie000 i'm not clutching at anything, i am stating what the law is concerning trespass. Trespass is civil unhtil you damage or otherwise harm someones property or go onto the property carrying a weapon, such as a blade, with the intentention to do harm or commit an offence. But in those cases different laws apply.

Yes you can be taken to court for trespass, but a civil court not a criminal court.

    Peace

  • @RumbleGuts2112 It's illegal to wild camp, that's why few people actually go and do it. For some reason you think it isn't illegal or that it's alright to do it. The LAW says it is ILLEGAL.

Wild camping should be carried out without any fear of legal action being taken by the law. I don't care whether that is civil or criminal courts that would have to deal with it. The point remains a wild camper CAN be LEGALLY harrassed whilst wild camping and this imo infringes upon my right(s) to roam etc

  • @sweetypie000 Wild camping is prohibited not illegal. It's a small but significant distinction. It turns illegal when people cause damage or harm to crops, property or livestock. There was a time when festivals could be held anywhere people decided but the famous 'Battle of the Beanfield' soon put a stop to that and new laws were brought in to make such spontaneous event's illegal.

I totally agree with your second paragraph. After all if it is away from farming etc no harm done.
