This was the first of fsol that i was introduced to by a big follower of there's and for me personally it's a brilliant album one of my favourites. I was a bit of a late comer as i was to young to appreciate there music first time round
-- I love the earlier FSOL stuff, but I think the Isness is one of their best albums. I understood when ppl reacted negatively toward it, but I am happy they allowed their creativity to take them someplace new. I think it will make their music better for it. Experimentation bears wonderful and unexpected fruits. FSOL + AA = DIVINITY (^__^)
@johnyringoz Hence the reason that I said The Isness was *ONE* of their best albumS ... 1) implying that they have made many great albums, and 2) admitting that ppl's tastes are different and, regardless of how strongly anybody feels, an objective "best" is difficult to determine. Regardless, your *opinion* is duly noted =/
Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by The Future Sound of London. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
First of all they are called Future SOUND of london not SOUNDS in plural...well, the same men behind this song formed a side project called Amorphous Androgynous and their album "Tales of ephidrina" was released 1993.
This song (track 7)how ever can be found on Amorphous Androgynous album the "Isness" from 2002...so even if its half true... it is a little misleading to lable the artists FSOL. Lovely song and thanks for the upload
@indigochild79 when this album was first released in america, it was released as a Future Sound of London record. Years later, i would see vids on youtube (like this) where it was billed as an Amorphous Androgynous release, and i wanted to correct the uploader. Then i did a little research and found that they did rerelease it under AA. But i understand your confusion- technically it's both an AA album and an FSOL one... cheers!
i remember when FSOL released this, (they later re-released it as AA) and i was taken aback to say the least. The last thing they had done was dead cities, and this is quite a departure. Actually took me a cpl years to appreciate it... But hey, i'm all for a band exploring different styles...
I posted a comment somewhere on facebook or here about The Isness as I was expecting it to be like tales of Ephidrina as I had been entrenched in electronic music for so long I actually took it back after a week was so intrigued miffed a whole host of emotions I just had to go back and buy it and was bowled over by their brilliance as electronic had gone a bit mad with crazy time signatures like Autechre were doing and now when I listen to The Environments series I just think wow FSOL
@MrROLY1973 yeah, it was definitely a huge departure for both AA and FSOL. i'm glad i can appreciate it now, but i was also quite put off by it at first. And it's not like i was closed-minded about bands experimenting at the time; i was just SO into FSOL (and tales of ephidrina) that i couldn't make sense of the Isness. These guys are such virtuosos in the electronic genre... now i see how cool it is that they've branched into organic psychedelia... as long as they still tech out now and then.
The A/A stuff just doesn't hit me in the same way that FSOL does. I think they are better producers in the electronic sphere than they are at the organic stuff. Also, they have a horrible guitar tone on their records. Really canned and cheesy. But I'd rather they do this and be happy than be miserable doing the old tricks. They deserve a break after so many fantastic records.
My husband dedicated this song to me when we were boyfriend and girlfriend. It became my favorite and when we got married, we danced it for our guests with a special choreography. Really, I think this is a beautiful example of how music should sound in heaven.
That is not FSOL.. well kind of.. The group is called Amorphous androgynous its a side project by Brian Dougans & Garry Cobain... And FSOL is short for Future SOUND of london not SOUNDS..yes i know im anal
absolutely amazing! its my favourite AA track ever, and means so much to me! I could listen to it on repeat all day everyday, so it still plays in my head when i switch off the ipod!
I've just listened to this album for the first time last night around 2 am whilst standing in a densely foggy field under an almost full moon. I was blown away
fuck - the is the most disgusting and most kitschyest FSOL song, hopefully for ever......
