But what about the things beyond the control of the choices I make? Why should somebody be born more talented, better looking or born into a rich family? I understand that lifes about using what youve been given to work and make your way in the world, but in the end if I work just as hard as somebody else but they were born luckier then me, why should he be more successful then me if I work harder? life is not fair.
@ASPEDBUSDRIVER1, youy ansered your own question! "LIFE ISN'T FAIR"!!! So what do you do about it? Steal from those that got a better deal than you because you see that as fair? I wasn't born rich and I am NOT rich now but I am working hard to be rich someday! I do not worry about others and their luck in life! I worry about myself and my family because I do not hate the rich! I want to be one of them! Some people are born preety or handsome and some are born butt ugly! LIFE ISN'T FAIR"!!!
@TomCatScat1 No Your right. Like you said about the minorities, I going to work harder than somebody else and when I get there Ill be proud knowing I had to work harder than others.
@ASPEDBUSDRIVER1, right on brother! Do not worry about others luck or their choices in life! Worry about your own and your family! If you spend to much time worring about others. Then you are not working on your on life! Make your own luck by making the right choices my friend!
@DerrenBrown100 Why LIB?, because Conservatives want you to work and NOT live off the tax payer! Maybe because Conservatives believe in personal responsibility! Ask all those voting liberals living on the tax payer in tax payer housing and ask who the hell put them there! The liberal government wants you and your lib friends dependent on them and then they get your vote! Liberals are socialists and now turning into dictators! Get a fucking clue lib!
Hmmm, I sort of agree with what you're saying. I interpret it to be that life isn't so abstract, rather a series of choices and consequences. People shouldn't say "oh my god, I ruined my life" they should say "I've made a really bad choice and now I need to live with the consequences". However, there are some things that are more than just a little unfair, they are just simply cruel, evil, or unjust and you can't just wash that way by saying "life isn't far".
I cannot seem to get this to stay on your site so I am replying to you here. As a fellow George Bush admirer I wanted to share a site with you. President Bush suffered so much at the hands of the lying media, they never reported any good that he did (and he did A LOT of good), and exaggerated on anything they could find negative, here is one article I found very interesting that I thought you might be interested in. Do you think that people (especially rich people) would pay taxes if it was up to them to decide? Don't be naive!
Btw.: I have never said that rich people have to give up all their wealth. I simply believe that everyone should do his/her part for the wellbeing of a society.
If those charities had enough resouces to provide sufficient help to all the people in need, then the government wouldn't have to spent money on social programs!
The only reason government creates such social programs is because private charity simply isn't enough. Not by a long shot!
My point is that you are being hypocritical if you want to get rid of social programs because some people abuse them! Because if the mere existence of abuse is enough reason for you to get rid of such programs, you would have to get rid of the entire government!
Do you want that? If yes, then you're an Anachist. If no then you're a hypocrite for using the abuse argument solely against social programs and not against the entire government.
So what's your solution, USAGymnast? Is it Anarchy?
Because ANY part of a government or a society CAN and WILL be abused by some people! And the only way to prevent such abuse is to give up on any form of government and society and that's nothing else but Anarchy!
If Anarchy is what you want, fine! But don't try to tell me that abuse is a problem which is limited to social programs. Because it's definitely NOT! It's a general problem of any part of society!
Tax money should be put into rebuilding these communities and eliminating the root causes of the problems, that should be priority no1 of every government, end of.
I think your looking through rose tinted glasses !!
If a person is raised in a war zone, they might become a fighter, if their razed in a place where drugs are everywhere they may become a junky, if their parents are uneducated, they may become just like them and so on, and by then its to late, so i fail to see the "choice" these people have.
Yes, we havent. And probably we will never get rid of all abuses. Just like we will never completely get rid of abuse in any other area of life, society or the law! So the goal must be to reduce abuse to an acceptable level.
My main point is: Abuse is not an inherent problem of such social programs! Abuse is a general problem for ANY part of society!
i agree 100 percent with personal responsibility. although there are things that are not people's choices. just a few examples are broken homes lack of education, crippling disases, or a tyrannical system which conspires to reward the rich. the system is flawed. always has been. it just comes to a head now.they designed it that way. the system isn't fair imagine a world where there were no resources to struggle for. people could use that time better. like you said life isn't fair.
Life isn't going to be fair if we all just sit and wait to see what is going to happen to our country, The revoultion against the Brits was not popular. 1/3 vote for it, 1/3 voted against it, and 1/3 was not sure!
Tommy, I think you smacked the wasp's nest with this one. The libtards don't want to hear anything about making the right choices and personal responsibility.
Tommy, I think that I finally understand what part of reality you are missing: You belong to those people who like to belief, that someones future depends entirely on his or her choices!
But you're WRONG!
On average, someone's choices probably make up no more than 25 to 50% of how his/her future will look like. The remaining 50 to 75% is LUCK, random events and other things you can't influence!
And thats why no one is really in control of his/her own future! Such control is just an illusion.
Luck? I call those opportunities that require choice! Luck is hitting the lottery! Meeting someone at a Bar that owns his own business and needs immediate quality help and you are too stupid dumb drunk to blow that opportunity...that isn't luck that's called being responsible for yourself!
Yeah, that isn't luck. But whether you get hit by a drunken driver while crossing the road, whether your plane crashes and whether a stray bullet from a gunfight two blocks away hits you in the head, those are questions of luck / bad luck!
I'm not saying that everything is totally random! I'm just saying that chance/luck plays its part in everyones life and it's a rather big part!
And that's why imho government should try to counteract the most severe consequences of such random events!
LMAO!!!! LIFE ISN'T FAIR!!!! DID YOU HEAR THE VIDEO Praiosrondra??? Life will through you curves! You have to take personal responsibility and over come! LIFE IS NOT FAIR! Does that mean you give up on life? Luck or bad luck makes no difference. You deal with what is handed to you in life!
Yes Tommy, you should take personal responsibility. I totally agree with that!
All I'm saying is, that you made it sound as if someone's choices are the only thing that defines his future. And that's just not true!
There are such things as unpredictable and unavoidably events! And because of this it is possible for someone to get into trouble, even if he made good choices, while someone else can have success, even if he made some bad choices!
Bullshit! I said and let me repeat! "LIFE ISN'T FAIR" If you are dead, you have NO more choices to make!!!! If you are crippled from an accident then you do what you have to do to survive and there are programs to give people a hand up instead of a handout!!! "LIFE ISN'T FAIR"!!! For you are me and for the guy that is killed in a plane crash! "Life Isn't Fair"!!!
If "life isn't fair" is all you wanted to say, then I agree with you. ;-)
However, I believe that we should try to counteract this "unfairness of life" on the national level. I believe that if someone's life was particularly unfair to him/her, he/she should get some help from the rest of society, from those who had more luck.
That is what a society is all about: You watch out for and care about each other. If we don't do this, we may as well just dissolve the state and live in anarchy.
What do you call all the socialists programs we have now?? How much more money do you want to take from those that have succeded?? When will enough be enough?? Why is the fault of anyone else??? Why do we have to pay for someone that life has been hard too?? That is what the govt. programs we already have are designed to do! How many more programs do we need? The govt. cannot do the job efficiantly and so you want American's to give more money to the Feds!!! Damn!
Tommy, I never said that the USA doesn't have any social programs. All I'm saying is, that it is a GOOD thing that such programs do exist!
And it will be enough as soon as there are enough programs in order to ensure that anyone who worked hard for a decend life is no longer at risk of losing all he has worked for because of bad luck.
Btw.: Do you realize that even the rebuilding of Iraq and the whole "bringing democracy to the middle east" idea essentially are social programs?
You want more programs????? How many more???? How much more money do we need to give to those who believe it comes from the govt.!!!! The money comes from American tax payers! I have no problem with giving a helping hand but too many of these people turn a helping hand into a way of life!!!!
No Spideyfan, it has nothing to do with making other people's life less fair. Some people get skrewed over by random events while others get fortunate because of random events. And BOTH are unfair! So if the fortunate guys are helping out the one who had some bad luck, it doesn't make anyones life less fair! Quite the contrary!
And as I said before: Helping each other out in times of need is what a society is all about!
I was born in rural Appalachia, my father worked his butt off but didn't make much money. I decided to work hard and go to college. I will be getting my Master's this spring. I'm in debt up to my ears, but I'm glad I made the choice to go to school.
Being born into poverty sucks, but it is YOUR choice on how you live your life. The beauty of the America system is that the poorest, most deprived person can succeed if they make the choice to.
Thanks for the vid! Yes, if only liberals would listen to you more often instead of their brainwashed news networks like CNN. We all make choices in this life, and even if we do make bad ones, what determines who we are is how much we are willing to get out of the pit that we dug for ourselves. Why do liberals always feel like someone else has to deliver their butts when things go wrong?
You can work under the age of 15 in Virginia if you get a judge to ok it! I got my workers permit at 13. Not because I had to but because I wanted to ake my own money!

Tommy you are right, but in some cities kids don't have a choice. Their only option between starving or putting food on the table is to sell dope on the corner. Not all of us are lucky enough to be born and raised in a nice neighborhood. If some of you have never been to projects go there and then tell me whether those kids have a choice. If you're born in the projects, you're fucked from the get go. No more freedom. It's either sell dope, join a gang, or die.
We have program after program after social program to do just that. Feed the families that are in need. There are churches but if people do not help themselves like the kids family/mom/dad much of the blame has to go on the parents! If you live on welfare! Stop having kids! If you cannot support your kids then ask for a hand up and not a handout! I am all for seeing that the kids get fed but we do have govt. programs to givethat hel. God Bless Brother!
Lives at home with mom and dad. No job and taking welfare. 6 kids already and wanted just one more! LMAO! She didn't need the 6 she already has and now it's 14! Whos going to be paying for this?, We the tax payer!
Tommy, I mostly can agree with you on this video. The only place where we may part ways, is that I feel children should be put in a position to succeed. Putting children in substandard schools where they get inferior education and aren't prepared intellectually to go on to higher education is setting them up for failure in life. If they are put in a position to succeed and they fail, well then that's on them.
That is a product of the Federal school system! Many of our kids fail for many reasons but it starts at home! A parent needs the choice of schools! School vouchers are the answer! God Bless my friend
CEO's are not for everybody! We need mechanics and they make very good money! There is a job for everyone. It's up to each person to find what works for them and then excell to be the best at whatever you do in life! Learning a trade in school should be priority #1.
tommy i have to say my desicion on life is that every day IM HIGH ON LIFE.............. not drugs but LIFE. I figured if i always look at the pos. things nothin can go wrong.( i don't just ignore bad things and live in lala land LIKE SOME LIBERALS though cough cough obama) it's just the path iv'e choosen to go down though.
Life isn't fair! I have buried a lot of good friends and relatives and have had a lot of ups and downs. The difference between reality and fantasy, success and faliure is having the ability to pick yourself up and keep going.
But Tommy..little Johnny came from a broken home..he didn't have sneakers that cost $150 a pair..nobody loved him..he was abused as a child..he grew up poor..blah blah blah..all the excuses that liberals use to excuse bad behavior!!
We live in a "victim" mindset society.."it's not my fault.".it's always someone elses fault.
Everything you said was dead on the money..Great video!
We know Hussein is a socialist who wants to turn America into Europe. He is everything anti-American. I was just reading a comment where someone said the libs (I call them socialists now) want to prosecute Bush who kept us safe all these years and let the terrorists who want to kill us all go free. If that doesn't just say it all, I don't know what does. We've got to fight the evil that has taken over Washington! Thanks for another great one, Tommy!! Take care:)
But what about the things beyond the control of the choices I make? Why should somebody be born more talented, better looking or born into a rich family? Tommy you make so much sense of what bullshit liberals shove down people's throats.

Where the schools went wrong is getting rid of the shop classes (auto, wood, metal). Those classes are what will help you suceed.
So what if you can read a 500 page novel or do long division, big deal. What are you gonna do when your car breaks down?
**I know reading and math are important.**

CEO's are not for everybody! We need mechanics and they make very good money! There is a job for everyone. It's up to each person to find what works for them and then excell to be the best at whatever you do in life! Learning a trade in school should be priority #1.

Good job Tommy but the people with that "gimme gimme gimme" attitude can't hear it. They are too busy covering their ears and holding out their hand.

Take care:)
