@AdamCWM I know you can never beat the tried and true leather whip. Is that your preference? I've been having a difficult time finding a good leather whip that'll last through practice. I'm worried that the difference is price. Ideas?

@LadyeXo Almost all of the whips I use in my shows are made from nylon as it's easier to maintain than leather whips. The only leather whips I've found to perform better than nylon whips tend to be on the expensive side.

I have an 8ft bullwhip and what I do for a sideways flick is start with the whip in front of me extended. and when you drag it behind you keeps your palm facing away from you. This will let the whip come up rather than side ways. Then flick it forwards once the whip is neutral in the air.

Hey Adam! Watching you cut that can on Time Warp is what got me into whips. That being said, I can't rest until I cut a can in half. So my question is:

What kind of cracker do you use when cutting cans like this?  Is it Kevlar or will any cracker do?

i crack whips and can cut soda cans just like that, and i just use my regular crackers, they work fine.

my advice: move back until it looks like you're too far back to hit the can, so the cracker is laying in front of it by a few inches, the thrust of your body ad you crack will bring it so just the cracker hits it, but keep trying; it takes practice.

its not the cracker that slices the can, its the fall.... if u watched timewarp the fall that cut the can had some knots in it? maybe a latigo fall with a few tight knots will increase the fall's ability to cut the can

actually, i DID watch that episode of time warp, and that was definately the cracker. the knots were from the making of the cracker. it was definately not the fall.

ebay is full of mostly junk whips, cheap but won't last very long and won't be as responsive as a well made whip.

Email Adam about his Indy on a budge whip. I just emailed him recently and he will be heading out to the Arizona Renaissance Festival, so you might not be able to buy one from him until April(what he told me). One of his 8 foot 4 plait whips is $160. Just save up the extra up to that time. Or buy one cheap on ebay and see if it's something you enjoy.

ya i just got dumb whip it has leather on the out side but rope on the inside ( dont ask ) it was fun to use it to cut the grass, hit trees, grapple trees and pull them around, and just crack it and it is fun! whips rock!

How'd you get so super accurate?? Were you a natural with a target whip, or did it take tons of practice? Ive been cracking since i was twelve, and I've only recently taken up targeting. Except I usually end up hitting myself more than the target!
