If this is running without any seed charge or battery, then the energy is coming from somewhere (obviously). Put the whole device in a rf shielded cage. I suspect that the energy may be coming from captured television signals. It's still "free" energy to you.

The coil is actually a capacitor. the many insulated spaces between the litz wire produces capacitance and just like a capacitor, the two end are not connected. Replace it with small disc cap and you will see for yourself that it still works good or even better.
