@gglaw42 how was Pink Floyd cute? they have much darker songs than Hawkwind. dont look at their most popular songs and judge if they are dark or not. check out "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" or "Cirrus Minor" or almost all the songs from The Wall and tell me if Hawkwind can get any darker than that
@freddiebarry93 They're probably commenting on physical looks. Girls swarmed around Floyd because of Sid Barrett and David Gilmour himself was a male model at one point
No need to lock the doors, Lem, no one leaves an Hawks gig 'til it's finished. Second best band ever. The good ship Hawkwind was at its best when it had one Captain Robert Calvert Esq. at its helm. The man was a genius.

Thank you so much for posting these vids. I missed this on tv (well I got home to see the last ten mins and was raging to have missed it) so will catch up now. Cheers mate (enjoy the gigs if you're going).
Ian Fraser Kilminster, (Lemmy) joined Hawkwind in late 1971, after lobbying from his mate Dik-Mik, and was kicked out in spring 1975 after a legendary drugs bust on the Canadian border. His first Hawkwind album was Doremi Fasol Latido, his last Warrior on the Edge of Time, which was heading far away from Lemmy's own musical direction...

Well their attitudes towards one another suck, that's it. Both are great men, and Nik is bitter that Dave got control of the band, and Dave is bitter that Nik tried to take his position as the band's backbone. Nik will always represent the bands ideals, but there would have been no music without Dave.
P.S. Mike Moorcock regrets getting involved in the Nik-Dave dispute, as he thinks he reacted too quickly.

I don't understand all this talk of Hawkwind v Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd were group of art students who made trippy music but didn't take drugs
Hawkwind were a bunch of drug taking hippy squatters who made music.
Give me Hawkwind or the Pink Fairies any day, it would make my squat complete.

Thanks. I saw my Dad on this show last summer and its taken me this long to track down a clip to show my family.
He's busking with Dave Brock between 2:20 and 2:36 if you care ;)
So happy HawklordPXR5 put the clip on utube, you're a true Gent. I owe you.

He was known as Bob Southern, or Ramblin' Bob. He passed away several years ago, so it was really nice to see him on tv.
Unfortunately the Beeb are unable to help me track down the original footage the clip came from.
He fell out with Brock over busked money and never spoke to him again. I notice Brock has had a similar effect on a number of people since :)
