  • what iwould love too see is them remakin PS1-4 for both PS3/360 but with upgraded graphics and som voice actin with cutscene....now that would be awesome

  • I wish there were HD versions of the 3 sprites.....would be so awesome.

  • i had this game in high school. i played it for 4 months. when i finally beat it, I don't think I ever touched it again. the game was so awesome though. going to play through it again on my sonic mega collection on 360.

  • beaten the game today on Wii,it was such an awesome game, and the final boss music is just freakin awesome:D

  • I'm still waiting for Sega to make a sequal to this one. There needs to be more Phantasy Star games that take place in the Algo System.

  • That boss looks worse than Gygas

  • Its been 10 years since I've played this and watching this video brings it all back. ;)

  • cheesy speach before boss ROFL

  • 6:17 - Time to kick some space-demon-girl ass!

  • @royyor1414 With one of the best battle themes of all time playing in the background! -rocks out-

  • Damn, i so wanted a remake of this game or another phantasy star game related to those classics (PSI, PSII, PSIV)

  • Man that thing's ugly.... Damn ugly...

OWUT it just turned green and got even more Damn Uglah...

    Wren's barely taking danage...

    Nevermind...

    She looks Fawking AWESOME now.

    Wait... GIRL?

  • ohhhhhhhhh form 3s got boobs

  • Phantasy Star 4 is truly an endearing masterpiece!

I know I'm not the only one who wonders what happened to the characters after Chas & Co destroyed the Profound Darkness & saved all of Algo!

  • still waiting for PS 5

  • using raja is ez mode...because it lets rika free to do dps

  • man took me long 2 kill these things lol

  • I would love it if they remade this game..

  • What's wrong with the Graphics?

  • AAAAW SH**! This ever scary but sexy bitch.

  • I wish they would make a Phantasy Star 5 same style just new story, characters etc

  • @Mao333333333 really, have you ever played earthbound on snes.

  • Anyone else think this thing is scary as hell? (music too)

  • @RandomComicDubs this music is EPIC!!!

  • I love this game

  • THIS THING SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME AS A KID!

I once was lying in my bed, last one in my house awake, and I was a silent and motionless as possible, because i though what if this thing was in my house?

  • possibly the best RPG ever.

  • This game kinda remindes me of Final Fantasy...

  • @Kzar5678 phantasy star is before final fantasy

  • Last boss music saids to me " Your defense is now -100, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO NOW ? "

  • ive played earthbound, but this looks neat :)

  • Hell yea a demonic godess with Space Tits!

  • the song is annoying lol. i liked the boss fights in PS II better

  • this shit brings back my early 20s to new heights, i beat this and dance the jig afterwards. took forever

  • Easily the greatest RPG of all time.

  • I think it's cool how Wren is like a Terminator and holds his gun and BANG! Also on this video I thought it was funny when Raja attacks the first form, And screams HOLY WORD. So what does he think, Harsh Language is going to kill it?

  • In Phantasy Star History this has to be the best Fight out there, And IV being the best game has the best music! I just love it.

  • who's doing that music right at the begining clip credit?

  • Currently I have beaten this game with Hahn and Kyra, with Hahn I leveled up on Rykros/Ryucross using the Holocaust combo and spammed NaFoi with the Mahlay Knife. With Kyra I went to The Edge and used Black Hole over and over except on the Prophalluses (Prophalli?), which I used Kyra's Tandle and used Destruct to do 999 damage. Phantasy Star 4 Rocks!

  • lol too many 337's.

  • lol 3:05 *Raja Defends*

Profound Darkness: "Oh, time to change I guess."

I used to think long ago that his transformation was based on how much damage was done. But sometimes it happens when I heal/defend. I've never noticed, is it a set amount of turns/time that pass?

  • I think it IS based on damage, but it won't transform until your current turn is over... even if that last move happens to be heal/defend/eat a sandwich lol

  • It is a generalized damage portion. Every 15,000 HP or something like that. Irony just works well. Burst Rocket worksquite well too however. The massive set of maws can suck, especially a Chaos Beast-like monster such as Miss Profound Darkness ^_^

  • @maxpeg It is damage. Once a set amount of damage has been inflicted it will change form at it's next turn. So if it attacks and then the party does enough damage to it, it won't change until it gets it's turn in the next round. Same thing happens with the final boss of The Legend of Dragoon.

  • Coming from pso blue burst, this game doesnt inflict the evilness it should. It is an amazing game, but it is pretty hard to take a blob with a lot of mouths seriously.

  • And you can take enemies covered with Rainbow Colored Neon lights seriously???

  • touche

  • I'd be pretty terrified if something like that appeared in reality.

  • this game just reeks of epicness

  • just like xenosaga episode III

  • you should use effess and crosscut and make the combo grand cross which hits for 999

  • Combo attacks are for pussies! lol nah j/k. I intentionally made my walkthrough combo attack free for an extra challenge.

  • Using raja is for pussies.

  • @Artificialraven damn, this bitch was hard to beat for me...XD

    love the game!

  • @Mark00098 999? I'm lucky if it hits over 650 at level ~50...

  • Not bad, but since the fight is easy at these levels + Raja, you should have shown off some skill combos here, like Destruction (Deban + Megid + Legeon + Posibolt) or Grand Cross (Crosscut + Efess) and possibly Purify Light (Holyword + Efess). Stuff like this made this RPG very unique back in the day.

  • second form looks like a robot.

  • Its first form is the scariest!

  • shure is....

  • This guy was go easy, but thats cause all my characters were in the 50s exept rune who was 40

  • i see the profound darkness and mother brain pops to mind....

  • Love the Final Boss Battle music...

  • Raja=god

  • The thing that makes me saddest about the PS2 remake of this being canceled is that I won't ever get to hear an arranged version of the theme for the Profound Darkness' final form. I loved that song.

  • Is it just me or does Wren seem to take more Magic Damage?

  • He doesn't have the spiritual presence to reduce the damage. Notice how Rune (A wizard who knows real magic) takes like the least.

  • I used to choose Gryz. Its pretty hard, but he was my favorite, so... yah...

  • why is he your fav? His techniqes suck, so all he can do is attack...

  • Its not how hard the first form is to beat, but the way he looks that makes him so scary.

Usually in RPGs the last boss is some sort of humanoid sorceror/demon/darklord/god or whatever, but in this case all you have is a huge, writhing mass of pure hatred and evil, represented by a mountain of flesh covered in burning red eyes and jagged teeth - its an awesome piece of design.

  • This boss, the various Dark Falz, Lavos from Chrono Trigger, Giygas from Earthbound, and Culex from Super Mario RPG are my absolute favorite bosses.

The Sephiroth fanboys can go suck it!

  • whats the name of the song playin at the beginning of the video, it sounds awesome

  • Where it is necessary to go?pliz help i the anger i kill alys

  • whoever played this...you're my hero. I have never beaten a boss in Phantasy Star. I just don't know what the hell I'm doing....

  • I've never played this game, but this boss doesn't seem too hard at all compared to some Dragon Warrior bosses.... The defense of the boss stays the same, and it hardly even hits more when it transforms! The only difference is that it uses more party-damaging hits... But yeah. Nice job, I think.

  • The boss isn't really that challenging. The only spell you have to watch out for is Megid, other than that, it's a pretty easy final boss fight.

  • well part of what made him easier is was the use of defense magic at the beginning. NRG barrier, sanner, and deban, all help your characters greatly, and the boss has a neutralize spell, that luckily it never used. She packs a lot harder hit when those defense skills arent in play!

  • Hm. I beat the first 2 forms of the PD with regular attacks and saved my techniques and skills for the last form. My HP wasn't that high either.

  • Dude...Anyone can beat PD with levels over 50 and Raja. You're not showing us anything exciting.

  • at 03:07 I thought it was dead. but it changed....

  • no duh there are better games there were better games back then but to some people this game was there favorite different people have different opinions not trying to be rude

  • this game is a classic. do you think chaplin movies are now terrible, since we've got color and sound?

  • Better games? Perhaps if you value graphics much more over gameplay.

  • The sad thing is that most teenagers DO value graphics over the classics... >:(

    Damn us!

  • So true.

  • I'm kinda sad, because despite my wanting not to be, I quite often find myself rejecting classic games because they just look so dang... = /

The most classic game I've played was the REAL Final Fantasy 3 (NES)...or Kirby's Adventure, once again, on the real NES, this year.

I have no qualms playing games like the original Star Ocean, though.

  • @SuperGheyz0r my cousin is a sad example of that

  • Games now are prettier, but that's IT. In terms of gameplay, emotional content, it just isn't there anymore. I can count the number of games to affect me like Phantasy Star or other classic series did on one hand.

Just because something new and shiny comes out, it doesn't automatically turn all classic games into crap. I'll take Phantasy Star 4 over Halo or whatever other games 13 year old boys seem to jizz themselves over, any day of the week.

  • I beat the game 4 times it was a pain in the ass the 4th time i used cheats.

  • It looks like Mantorok from Eternal Darkness..

  • this thing is uggly...

  • this is one of my all time favorite games

  • Wow, did you over level? Wren's HP are ridiculous

  • One more thing.. can you tell me the name of the song you used in the beginning of your video with "boss battle"?

  • Love phantasy star... every PS game should get a music award.. and I love your game tuts AR! I use em on shatloads of oldies I have lying around.

  • w/e, y'all! i was 12, and this game was super-fun. i loved PS 1, also.

  • Heh, I love how they let you use one of the last bosses attacks 'megid' right back against her.

  • I really liked the Charaters i PS4

Wren,Rune and Rika were my favorites!

  • good thing there main characters.

  • dont forget chaz.

  • DAAAAAMmmm SOOO mANY MemoRIES MAAAn i used to got this game for genesis but never no where near got that far but its crazy to see it again and dark falz is in every phantasy star last boss

  • damn this game looks bad ass

  • Only because it is.

  • Wren should be in middle

  • holy shit spoilers jack ass

  • One of the only challenging RPGs ever made. This game ranks on my top game list

  • Actually I don't think this is a very challenging RPG. It pales in comparison to the original and PS2 in terms of difficulty. Out of all the RPG's I've played, and I've played many, this one is one of the easiest.

  • I gotta agree with ya YieArKungFu. The dungeons in PS2 gave me goddamn headaches, especially the tower with over 70 teleport tiles. I swear that complicated ass dungeon was designed by a sadistic psycho.

  • Yes, and as Raz pointed out, a good amount of grinding is required too. The original is also challenging. With the FP dungeon view everything looks the same. It's very easy to get lost.

PS4 was a walk in the park compared to the first two.

  • PS4 was still a lot more fun, thanks in part because it was, well, PLAYABLE. PS2 had increddibly shoddy design overall, and even though PS3 was rougher around the edges than a freshly sawefd-off 2x4, it still rocked all over PS2.

The original, however, is still the best. And still one of the best RPGs in existence.

  • I disagree about PS2, I thought it was a very good RPG and the had the same "feel" as 4.

My personal order of preference is: 4, 2, 1, 3... but to each his/her own.

  • 4,2,1,3 is my favorite order of the games too. In fact, I think thats what a majority of old school PS fans will say too.

  • Megarey.. You sir, are 100% correct.

    PS1>PS4>PS3>PS2

PS2 just doesn't hold up well today.. It with its mind-numbingly frustrating mazes for dungeons and incessant level grind, took away what little enjoyment I was having with the game.

I agree that the much maligned and underrated PS3, was much more playable and less frustrating than PS2.

  • PS2 isnt bad you just need that thick little hint book that came with the game :P. I still have mine things invaluable

  • It was too easy to check it out. I blazed through PS2 within 3 weeks, no thanks to it... I should've burned it!

  • Dunno about that... I actually played through and beat PS2. I played 2 hours of PS3 and quit.

Not much of a fan of the Golden Axe team's version of "Phantasy Star." As far as I'm concerned, 3 wasn't a true entry in the series, and 4 was the REAL third entry.

  • PS4 has parts that officially made PS3 part of the canon, so too bad. I absolutely LOATHE PS2, but I don't waste energy trying to pretend it's not part of the timeline.

  • I never bothered playing through PS3 to a certain point, so I wouldn't have noticed any such parts in part 4.

And it wouldn't be as legitimate to try to 'disown' Phantasy Star 2. Like it or not, at least it was actually created by the Phantasy Star team. Part 3 was created out of an effort by Sega to squeeze more cash out of the series before the true creators were ready, and nobody associated with the original games worked on it.

It was put together by the Golden Axe team, and it shows.

  • PS3 takes place in a space colony inside the Algo system, and yeah you actually get to see it in PS4 so I guess that's how Sega tied it into the series. But yeah I agree, I didn't care much for PS3 much however if you're dedicated enough to it, you'll find it has tons of replay value due to the different time lines it offers.

  • I have play ps2 ps3 and ps4. PS4 is by far my favorite game, and due to the how difficult PS2 is, i never actually had time to beat it. I played PS3 back when I was a kid. I must say I personally think PS3 has the greatest replay value of all the games. As spoken depending on how you marry, there are some caves you never even travel unless you completely replay the game. All PS games rock.

  • PS3 was garbage. I don't even count it as an entry in the series. >.>

  • and whos the sadistic psycho?

  • Hmm, I am reading this and I do agree. I think PS2 is ultimately the most challenging of all the games. PS2...grinding...grinding...if you didn't grind you were screwed. PS4, you didn't have to do a lot of grinding, and if you had newer equipment you were in pretty good shape. PS4 was slightly challenging, but not NEARLY as challenging as PS2. PS4 is cakewalk compared to PS2

  • this whole game series was my life when i was 12-15, i still play it now and then when im bored, :) especially the orignal part 1, oh i had a crush on Alis Landale, only could meet her in my dreams...

  • Jiraya from Naruto would have a field day looking at the profound darkness's 3rd form lol.

  • Pft, any party that doesn't let you use destruct is bullshit!

  • this is the first time i see a five party members RPG in my life that is not online or strategic

  • With Raja, but it's a good job.

Try again with other 5th... maybe Hahn or Kyra? To make it more difficult ;P

  • I always use Demi. <3

  • i like last king very excited

  • wow y didn't u just use crosscut with chaz

and efess with rune that casts grand cross sometimes which does a payload of damage

  • Amazing game, truly amazing. And no, PD is the final reincarnation of Dark Force. If you've played the game you'll know he created a giant hole in the ground just north of the starting town, I forget the name, and southwest of Mesa. This used to be my #1 favorite game... before WoW came along. I just love the story line. Too bad for Alys though...

  • So this is the main culprit behind dark force? The one who created dark force from the previous PS games.

  • Well Dark Force was actually a part of the Profound Darkness. Think of it as a hand trying to bring its entire body back in the universe.

  • @yourtubeyourass21

PD is the complete and true self of "Dark Force" while "Dark Force" was actually a part of PD that managed to escape the barrier every 1,000 years to gradually destroy the seal, letting the entire PD to enter back into space again.

  • i was surprised that they killed a main character like Alys off...I was shocked.

  • Can you line-up your characters here like in Dragon Quest 8?

  • Yes, you do it by organizing the way they walk in a line. You press the 'Camp' button and go to 'Order'. The one in the front of the line is last to be attacked in battle.

  • Why did you have Raja defend so much?

  • Because he's an old man who's weak as hell, but very useful on the last boss ^^

  • yeah, Raja's healing techniques are VERY useful at the end of the game

  • If you're gonna insult my friend Raven, then get lost!

  • Does anyone else think that the 1st form of The Profound Darkness is the ugliest looking thing ever? Particularly when you compare it to other final bosses, The Profound Darkness last form though is a surprise to me.

  • Chaz+Rika+Gryz+Raja+Wren+FTWXD!!!

  • im at this part, but im way underlevel to try yet, all my people are 37-38 lol, i normaly use kyra instead of raja ,

  • I was surprised that you didn't use the Macros and use combination attacks like Rune using Effess and Chaz doing CrossCut to form the "Grand Cross". You did it the hard way, and for that I applaud you! It's interesting to see how others beat this boss. I always use Raja, but he holds 2 silver shields (the best he can use) and I have several macros programmed in. Thank you for sharing!

  • Great job on this video, I especially love the music on the final part of Profound Darkness.

    ^.^

  • Wow,Wren killed the final form by attacking

  • that happened to me i had only wren left i had to constantly heal until the final part made the mistake of using evil eye has no effect on androids then i made the killer move.

  • Yeah, Wren is the fucking best when it comes to fighting bosses.

    WOOT Wren!

  • yes wren is the one i have in front because the one in front is much more likly to get hit than the one at the back and if wren gets hit he can just recover or use a repair kit (which you get tons of in a place on dezolis)

has anyone done the final boss of phantasy star III

  • Props to using Raja and Wren.

  • wow, Raja killed the first form by going into defense
