  • Actually, black leather is NOT the way to go on the west coast - they're too heavy for brush (wildfire) operations. LA County firefighters have the option of black leather helmets and those who consider themselves "smoke eaters" often opt for them.

  • Gotta respect these brave heros, but I have to admit, the yellow helmets look pretty weird! Black leather helmets are the way to go!

  • Firefighters really are some the bravest people around. They fight FIRE for fucks sake!!! The only element that every creature on this planet is scared of.

  • I'm from Arizona, planning to move to LA. Do you know if you can apply to LAFD (when hiring) to be able to get an opportunity to work for them. Or do you need to be a California resident with ID only? Please let me know if you have that info.

  • @lazona1233 Gotta have a California Driver's License and pass an extensive background check (takes nearly a year to complete). Next hiring phase will likely begin next year.

  • whos idea was it to crash an airplane in to the ground/buliding?

  • 124

  • fi

  • What plane crash was that and when did it happen?

  • @TheJFLAME27

USAir Flight 1493 which collided with SkyWest Flight 5569 upon landing at Los Angeles International Airport the evening of Friday, February 1, 1991.

  • God bless the American Firefighters, a salute to all the fallen comrades who lost thier lifes to safe others, greeting from the Firedepartment City of Enger, federal state of Nordrhein-westfalen Germany

  • Nice. Good to see the LAFD again.

  • smokin hot :)

  • thumbs up if you agree that the firefighters on every place on earth must bee priced with a milion thumbs up

  • I've been to sta 27 when I was in LA. The guys were really nice and gave us a full tour of the station and the museum. Also got to get on old boat 2. It was about a year before they retired it. They got a great group of ff's there.

  • I am a volunteer firefighter and a fulltime cowboy.

  • Amazing.

  • thank you for your service.

  • ON ANOTHER DAY CMON CMON

  • is it still possible to become a LAFD firefighter if you have had any past medical history due to an accident, but are cleared and 100% better now? thank you

  • i wanted to join the army and fight for our country but because im 35 they said im too old. Anything is possible,

  • Train and become certified as a Fire Marshal. Many areas you have police power and still have to maintain your firefighter certifications.

  • *salute*

  • I want that fire trucks in Germany! =D

We in Germany have only these fucking ugly modern trucks -.-

the fire trucks in USA look really bad ass!!

    greetings from Germany =D

  • whoever dislikes this must be on something because this is one of the best fire departments on the face of the earth!

  • psshhhh BS lol, when no one is typing you know they walk..lol

  • why don't choose an gallet helmet?

  • is it possible to be a full time police officer and a part time firefighter?

  • @SpringCube It is possible to be a full time law enforcement officer and a part time firefighter, but not in the City of Los Angeles. Some cities in Northern California use this exact combination of expertise.

  • @LAFD027 Well cool that would be awesome! I live in San Bernardino so ill check whether or not they would allow that and see what I can do. Thanks man!

  • @LAFD027 Are you sure? You could be a reserve officer but full time firefighter

  • @twentyonekay Absolutely - but the typical employment is full time police and part time fire. Northern California has several cities that follow this protocol. Fire Captains and apparatus operators are full time, but firefighters are also police officers.

  • @LAFD027 i thought that you couldnt be a part time firefighter due to being oncall all the time? i plan to join LASD reserve because i dont want to pursue being a full time police officer, however cops arent on call all the time, just on shifts.

  • @LAFD027 here in michigan we got people called public safty officers, they are full time police officers, but when a fire starts, they go stright to the scine in their cars and someone else brings the appratus, they also keep their gear in the back of their potrol cars.

  • @LAFD027

Here in Michigan the Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety Department has it set up where the police officers are also firefighters.

  • @LAFD027 You guys are awesome. Thanks for keeping the people safe. We respect you, and appreciate you.

  • @SpringCube how you are going to rest?!

  • @SpringCube Just prepare to have absolutely no family, social or sex life.

  • @SpringCube Yes it is, because i am both! It is freaking great!

  • @zulu547 What county!? That is so exciting

  • @SpringCube Its in a Canadian county. Full time LEO and Paid on call Firefighter! Despite what anyone says about no life, i say bogus! Social life is great and the sex life is even better! Its just a great way to give back! Different crests, one common goal!

  • @zulu547

Haha, what do you mean sex life is even better?

  • @CleverDjembe chicks dig leo's, and FF's, and if your both! Double the action. It was a reply to a prev comment made below about no social or sex life. I had to point out that was very incorrect.

  • @zulu547 Can't believe someone actually said that. You get to go on calls that involve dealing with people, all the guys at my station do truck checks every tuesday, BBQ's and everyones invited, they all have families, and we pretty much meet new people everyday! I'm sure that moron who said no social, sex life, or family is/was ignorant.

  • @SpringCube In Bucks County it is! Full Time police officers work 4 days a week and you could be a volunteer firefighter which is basically show up when you want to.

  • @WestBrickstonFire37 Same here in Missouri. Onlly the city cops don't like us because we pretty much take over their jobs when we get to the scene. Traffic control, choas control...to protect lives and property!

  • @SpringCube my uncle was one he was a full time sherrif and a volunteer fire fighter

  • @Stickymajorwow also my other cousin is a cop also and the fire chief

  • @SpringCube < There are several municipalities in CA that have dual roles. The city of Rohnert Park (Sonoma County) in the north San Francisco bay area is one such city. The RP dept of public safety officers are both full time fire and police and operate on a two week rotation. Two weeks you're a cop, two weeks you're a fireman. There are other rotations available but two weeks is the standard.

  • thats a good video

  • They do look similar to a wildland helmet but the helmet is the Phenix Fire Helmet-First Due Series. I have one that was given to me and it is a great helmet (in an area of Texas that is heavy on the traditional leather style of helmet...I still like the traditional leather style but only wear my Phenix helmet now). I have wanted one for years.

  • the new helmets look like wildfire helmets eh?

  • @uscgswimmer1 LAFD helmets are not new (firefighting). USAR helmets (and CERT) helmets (also not new) do look like wildfire head protection.

  • @LAFD027 ok thanks
