My oldest had his teeth at 4 months but at that age there are still nutritional benefits from nursing and he was too little to use his tongue to swollow real foods. My daughter didn't get her teeth until she was almost 1 1/2 years old but she was well onto solids by that point and the nutritional benefits of nursing are no longer there at that age.

If people don't want to breastfeed at all or past a certain age, that's their choice. Keep in mind that what is normal in the west is considered abnormal to the rest of the world. It's perfectly normal to breastfeed a child until they self wean. My son got teeth pretty young, so by some's logic I should have weaned him then, but he wasn't able to eat many foods, and the foods didn't provide nearly the amount of nutrition as breastmilk. I stopped at about 8 months, but I wish I wouldn't have.

I am a mother of two and no way on God's green earth would I consider breastfeeding my child until 6-8-10 years old. After 2 years of age, there is no significant nutritional value in it for the child. There are other ways to comfort a child who fell and scrapped his knee or had a bad day at school. In my opinion, I think the mother isn't ready for her child to grow up.

My oldest had his teeth at 4 months but at that age there are still nutritional benefits from nursing and he was too little to use his tongue to swollow real foods. My daughter didn't get her teeth until she was almost 1 1/2 years old but she was well onto solids by that point and the nutritional benefits of nursing are no longer there at that age.

For anyone that has done any real research into these subjects the benefits become apparent. The difficulty is then following through with these great things in a narrow minded, judgemental society, who think they are 'educated'.

I saw some other video on youtube and this retired nurse lady says that breast milk has a lot of sugar and causes cavities. (Then again, what food doesn't cause cavities?) And I just now tried to research issues with sugar in breast milk.. but like nothing came up.. Haha fail!

If people don't want to breastfeed at all or past a certain age, that's their choice. Keep in mind that what is normal in the west is considered abnormal to the rest of the world. It's perfectly normal to breastfeed a child until they self wean. My son got teeth pretty young, so by some's logic I should have weaned him then, but he wasn't able to eat many foods, and the foods didn't provide nearly the amount of nutrition as breastmilk. I stopped at about 8 months, but I wish I wouldn't have.

I am a mother of two and no way on God's green earth would I consider breastfeeding my child until 6-8-10 years old. After 2 years of age, there is no significant nutritional value in it for the child. There are other ways to comfort a child who fell and scrapped his knee or had a bad day at school. In my opinion, I think the mother isn't ready for her child to grow up.
I think that when the child can ask for it and unsnap your bra, it's time to stop.

I live in the US and I think people who think we should take away what our children have always known to be there because they need to "self sooth" are messed up in the head. Why self sooth so you can slack on your job as a parent its all to make it easier for you and detuning yourself from your child. Even the government says its best to breastfeed.
